On November 5, 2009, a mass murder took place at Fort Hood, Texas. 13 soldiers were killed and 32 were severely wounded by a single radicalized Muslim for no other reasons than they were American soldiers.
The killer, Major Nidal Malik Hasan betrayed his oath and his country when struck a blow on behalf of the terrorist organization Al Qaeda. Evidence shows he was motivated by an Al Qaeda leader in Yemen, imam Anwar al-Awlaki, also a US Citizen and a Muslim.
This was a clear case of treason and terrorism, so says Four Star General Barry McCaffrey, United States Army Retired.
On April 9th, 2015, nearly 6 years after this terrorist attack the Army issued Purple Heart medals to the deceased soldiers families and to the wounded soldiers. This was unprecedented and it has raised many questions about the handling of this attack.
For some, this marked the end of a very dark chapter in our military history. For many others, the ordeal continues, because too many questions remain unanswered.
Right after the attack, before all the facts were known, President Obama was already calling this attack a simple case of work place violence and thereby he obstructed the issuance of the Purple Heart medals.
This story will not be complete until President Obama is gone from office and is never again in a position to harm America.
Aside from the Fort Hood travesty, the Trayvon Martin incident, the Ferguson scandal, the Bowie Bergdahl fiasco and Benghazi murders, the damage Obama has amassed in his two terms in office is almost beyond comprehension.
Our allies no longer trust us and our enemies no longer fear us. Obama’s damage reaches around the world and undercuts our national security.
When this man is gone, he will leave the nation many trillions in debt, the Middle East will be in chaos. China has already replaced us as the world’s greatest economic power.
Speaking of China, they have repeatedly engaged in cyber-attacks on American businesses and that has affected millions of Americans and the worst part is, they did so without a US response.
Russia has taken advantage of this weakness in the White House and used it to seize territory in a bid to return to the glory days of the USSR. Even North Korea feels they can attack and threaten us with impunity. Jimmy Carter looks strong and decisive compared to President Barrack Hussein Obama. But, don’t say that to Carter or he’s likely to punch you out. He doesn’t like being compared in anyway to Obama, he detests the man.
Is it any wonder that former Vice President Dick Cheney refers to Obama as the worst president in this nation’s history?
Jack they’ve given them the medals and it’s about time, but they did not award them the medical benefits that usually goes along with receiving the Purple Heart medal. The move, at this late date, seems politically motivated rather than genuinely offered in recognition of the combat nature of the killings.
This is the worst administration ever.
It’s about time. I remain baffled as to why this was not labeled a terrorist attack to begin with.
It is a travesty that the recipients have not yet been awarded benefits, but it seems like this is due more to the law than to Obama, according to Fox News:

“Section 571 of the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act addresses both the awarding of the Purple Heart to service members killed or wounded in attacks inspired or motivated by foreign terrorist organizations and the Defense of Freedom Medal for those members and civilians killed or wounded during the Fort Hood attack on 5 November 20009,” the April 6 letter states.
“Nowhere in the act, however, does it offer combat benefits for service members permanently disabled in attacks inspired or motivated by foreign terrorist organizations. Although subsequent legislation and guidance may change, currently, the Board has no authority to award V1/V3 (service related) designation to soldiers disabled during the Fort Hood attack. “
Still, you’d think Obama could fix this by executive order. This pisses me off and it needs to be rectified soon.

According to a Pew survey a vast majority of Muslims in Malaysia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, and the Palestinian territories support the death penalty for apostasy.
Public amputation is common in Islamic nations for crimes of thievery, often in the form of the cross amputation of a hand and a foot.

Do you really believe my Muslim students are taught by their parents to hate Jews and wish death upon gays? I find that highly unlikely.

Chris, you asked the question “Where is violence by “mainstream Muslims” happening in America?” Allow me to answer this with a few news snippets in no particular order of important. I went to a lot of trouble to answer you, so I hope you read every word now:
1. In 1989 in St. Louis, Missouri, sixteen-year-old Palestina (Tina) Isa was murdered by her Palestinian father, Zein Isa, with the aid of her Brazilian mother, Maria Isa. Their daughter listened to American popular music such as dance, rap, R&B, and rock. After learning that Palestina had taken a part-time job without her parents’ permission, and dated a non-Muslim African American man, her father felt she had become too Westernized. On the day of her murder, Zein repeatedly stabbed his daughter Tina, while her mother Maria held her down.
2. In July 2008, New York Post writer John P. Avlon claimed that the murder of 25-year-old Sandeela Kanwal—allegedly by her father, Chaudhry Rashid—was an “American Honor Killing.”[4] Rashid is said to have strangled Kanwal to death with a bungee cord after she tried to end her arranged marriage. Chaudhry Rashid was then sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
3. Amina and Sarah Said were the children of Egyptian immigrant Yaser Abdel Said and American Patricia Tissie-Owens. Both girls were born in Dallas, Texas. Amina was born on March 2, 1989 and Sarah was born on March 16, 1990. The girls were found shot to death in a taxi at the Omni Mandalay Hotel, in Irving, Texas, January 1, 2008. Both girls had left their home in Lewisville, Texas earlier that evening, with their father Yaser Said. At 7:33 pm CT a call came into the Irving Police Department’s 911 call center. The call was from Sarah Said. She had been shot 9 times and told the operator “My Dad shot me and my sister, I’m dying!” Their mother, Patricia Said, claims both girls were killed for having non-Muslim boyfriends.
4. In February 2009, Muzzammil Hassan was arrested and charged with murdering his estranged wife Aasiya Zubair with a knife and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. As I recall he cut her head off for divorcing him. At the time Imam Mohamed Hagmagid Ali, vice-president of ISNA, stated: “This is a wake up call to all of us, that violence against women is real and can not be ignored. It must be addressed collectively by every member of our community.” So the Imam was aware of growing violence by every day Muslims, but nothing changed, violence continues to grow and get worse.
5. Faleh Hassan Almaleki, an Iraqi immigrant, struck and killed his daughter Noor Almaleki, 20, in a Phoenix valley parking lot in October 2009, and also injured her boyfriend’s mother Amal Khalaf. Police said Almaleki told detectives and witnesses after the October 2009 incident that he was angry at his daughter because she was “too Westernized,” defying Iraqi and Muslim values.
6. The United Nations reports 5,000 honor killings a year, a small percentage of which take place in America, though actual numbers are unknown because honor violence is still a new epidemic. Even without data, the threat is real. http://theislamicmonthly.com/americas-honor-killings-a-growing-reality/ This was written by a Muslim female, Farhana Qazi, a lecturer and writer on conflicts in the Muslim world. She wrote, “This morning, I received a phone call from a police officer who wished to be unidentified to review a possible case of honor killing. A young Pakistani American girl is on the run from her parents for fear they will kill her for refusing an arranged marriage in Pakistan. Because this is an ongoing case, there are too many questions unanswered. Who is the girl? Why did she call the police? What does she want? Will the family hunt her down? All I have are sketchy details. The girl is barely twenty. The family migrated from Pakistan to America and is naturalized. The father owns a convenient store. The mother insists her daughter marry a foreign man in her home country. And the men are on her side.”
She further says, “What do the honor killings in America have in common? In each case, the victim is accused by a male family member for adopting an “American” lifestyle—sporting sleeveless or wearing jeans, befriending boys, and choosing to be free from family traditions. On the phone with the police, I began to describe honor versus shame in Muslim societies.”

Now Chris I want you to consider that we are a nation awash in firearms. We’ve lost thousands of our citizens here and abroad to Muslim terrorism and our response as good citizens has been to turn the other cheek time, after time, after time. This speaks volumes about our respect for religious tolerance. Imagine if this situation was reversed in a Muslim country. Do you think Americans would be shown the same level of tolerance? Nah, not even close. We would be dead and buried long ago by revenge mobs of Muslims.

How could I find all this information above so quickly and you could still ask, “Where is violence by “mainstream Muslims” happening in America?” Doesn’t that question look just a little bit stupid given the evidence, and it was by no means all the evidence either, there’s so much to be said!

Where we part is that I don’t think such actions do anything to help change the institutional behavior of Muslims. I also feel that jokes such as Peggy’s, and comments such as Pie’s, denigrate all Muslims, including the innocent ones.

I’d argue that honor killings are often a type of terrorism. They’re meant to “send a message” toward Muslim women to keep them in line. I’m not questioning that this has happened (though I do have issues with the source), I’m saying that I doubt the majority of American Muslims take part in these practices.

This isn’t true. Joseph Kony’s terrorist group identifies as Christian, and engages in the same practices; so do many others in Africa. Uganda, a so-called “Christian” nation, recently debated a law that would have put homosexuals to death; this law was supported by some right-wing American groups such as the Family Research Council.

That said, it is true that these practices are more common in majority Muslim countries, and that our nation faces a greater threat from Islamic terrorists than from members of any other religion. I have never denied that obvious fact.

This is what’s known as “moving the goalposts.” You started out by saying that Obama, unlike Bush, does not “name the enemy.” When it was pointed out that this is not true, you moved on to saying that what Obama says doesn’t matter. This shows that your critiques are not principled–you’re not arriving at your opinions through logic and reason, because the reasoning behind your opinions literally changes from comment to comment, and you don’t even seem to notice.
You can’t criticize what Obama says and then say “pay no attention to what this man says.” That is a naked contradiction. Either Obama’s rhetoric matters, or it doesn’t. You are trying to have it both ways–his words matter when it’s convenient to you, and don’t matter at all when it’s inconvenient. That’s not honest or rational.

Please stop. You know that the terrorists who attacked Benghazi explicitly cited the video as their motivation. You know that Obama did not “blame America,” and explicitly said that the video was no excuse for the attack. There is no sense in continuing to pretend that you do not know these objective facts.

Me: “Yes, he has literally said those exact words. He has gone even further and said that “Islam is hell.” Surely you remember this.”
Tina: “Surely you, an English major, can place those words within the context of all of his remarks.”
There go those goalposts again. Your argument was that Pie never said “Islam is the enemy.” Except that he has said that and worst. Instead of admitting that, you try and deflect with an argument about “context,” which is really unheralded anyway since the context hardly makes his remarks any better.
I know you are recovering from surgery right now but from what I know about you, you’re too tough and proud to want me to go easy on you due to that. So I’ll say what I’d say to anybody arguing the way you are right now: Stop changing the argument every time you are proven wrong about something.
Tina, countries are removed from the state sponsor of terror list for political reasons all the time. This has ever been so. Bush removed North Korea from the list in 2008. Hey, we haven’t had any problems with them since, right?
Congress has the option to introduce legislation to block this decision. If Cuba is taken off the list, only three countries will remain on it. Only eight countries have ever been placed on the list. Surely, there are more governments sponsoring terror than that–note that Saudi Arabia has never been placed on the list. Get outraged about this if you want, but spread the outrage around; Obama is not the first to take a nation of the state sponsored terror list for political reasons. It’s a longstanding part of diplomacy.

I think that rogue nations ought to be on the list for what they are doing and they should not be taken off the list until they have corrected their behavior. Anything else seems just dishonest. -Jack
