Trump Gains Edge in Key Battleground States

Posted by Tina

Politico’s Battleground watches and reports on the presidential race in the swing states. In the last week Trump has taken the advantage by a slim margin, except in Pennsylvania where his lead is sizable:

New swing-state polls released Wednesday by Quinnipiac University show Trump leading Clinton in Florida and Pennsylvania — and tied in the critical battleground state of Ohio. In three of the states that matter most in November, the surveys point to a race much closer than the national polls, which have Clinton pegged to a significant, mid-single-digit advantage over Trump, suggest.

The race is so close that it’s within the margin of error in each of the three states. Trump leads by three points in Florida — the closest state in the 2012 election — 42 percent to 39 percent. In Ohio, the race is tied, 41 percent to 41 percent. And in Pennsylvania — which hasn’t voted for a Republican presidential nominee since 1988 — Trump leads, 43 percent to 41 percent.

After weighing the weight of other polling and attempting to give a tip of the hat to Clinton the site concludes:

But, in a reversal from earlier surveys, it’s a more acute problem for Clinton. Clinton’s unfavorable ratings (59 percent in Florida, 60 percent in Ohio, 65 percent in Pennsylvania) are higher than Trump’s (54 percent in Florida, 59 percent in Ohio, 57 percent in Pennsylvania) in all three battleground states. And majorities in all three states — which together account for 67 electoral votes, or nearly a quarter of the 270 necessary to win the presidency — have a “very unfavorable” view of Clinton.

Another measure of voters’ ambivalence about Clinton in the Quinnipiac poll: a second ballot-test question, this time adding two third-party candidates to the mix. When voters are asked to consider the general election again, this time given the option of choosing Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein, Trump’s advantage over Clinton grows in each state. Trump leads on the four-way ballot by five points in Florida, one point in Ohio and six points in Pennsylvania.

Polls are useless to me in terms of who will be our president. They have been used to try to sway public opinion and quite often they end up being wrong. I posted this because of what it says about public opinion regarding Hillary’s lack of character and the questionable character of the party leadership as a whole. Who would nominate someone so badly tainted by a history of scandal and criminality?

Stewart Varney reported this morning on Fox Business News that top aides to the President, including Rahm Immanuel, warned Hillary to stop using her personal email service. This indicates Obama was aware of her criminality and did nothing to stop her. We should keep in mind that several of her emails contained top secret information so sensitive that only the President and a handful of others are allowed to read them.

It was also reported today that President Obama did not meet with Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn a single time “while he served as the President’s deputy director of national intelligence and later as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.” Flynn was on Trumps short list for VP.

The general, who spent 33 years in the intelligence field, told The Daily Caller News Foundation he was never called in for a face-to-face meeting with Obama to offer his assessment of ISIS as it rampaged through the Middle East, or during the political meltdown of Libya and Egypt, or on Iran’s efforts to build a nuclear bomb, or of the “Russian reset” that ended in shambles. … In four years, Flynn was never invited to brief the president on any kind of intelligence issue. Ever.

Hillary is unfit to serve as President but in addition, layers of dishonesty and criminality within the Democrat Party show that the levels of deceit and connivance run deep. It’s questionable whether the party can legitimately continue.

If the new polling suggests that the people are beginning to wake up I have hope that our nation will survive. We might even see a resurgence of the America we all love.

(Guys I will be unavailable until later this evening and unable to post your comments. I will post them, if Jack doesn’t, as soon as I can…sorry for the delay)
