Dictator Castro is Finally Dead – Good Riddance

by Jack

Fidel Castro dead at age 90. Hopefully his communist regime will soon follow him. The only thing that kept the communist party going all these years was a vicious exploitation of their people. Most wages in Cuba topped out around $50 a month, regardless if you are a doctor or a farm laborer.

Cuba’s prisons are filled with political prisoners who now see a glimmer of hope for their freedom. This is especially true as Cuba moves towards a market economy and away from the failed doctrine of the last 60 years. My prediction is the lure of capitalism will snowball and the entire iron fisted regime will fall like a house of cards.

Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz, commonly known as Fidel Castro, governed Cuba as Prime Minister from 1959 to 1976 and then as President from 1976 to 2008. Castro was a devout Marxist-Leninist and also served as the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba. I’m glad he’s dead and so are hundreds of thousands of exiled Cuban’s.

Why do Americans so distrust journalists? Because so many are idiots —

    Journalists Hail Castro’s Achievements

Golly. Those poor Dems just can’t catch a break.

I hear Colin Kap. wore a shirt with Fidel Castro’s and Che Guervav’s picture on it. I think Kap should go play for the Cuban football team. Oh that’s right they don’t have one. Well, then he can live on the average income of $25 a month.

  4. Dewster says:

    LOL

You use the word Journalist too freely

there are very few. Most are paid hacks who write as told or fear to loose access. Even heir trump has pulled the Media in and warned them. While I happen to agree they are ars one can not threaten their access.

Everything is a liberal and conservative to you guys. So sad. fighting a civil war from a one horse town in Norcal?

    LOL

Now as Bad as castro was one fact remains Cuba has Better healthcare than we do. bar None.

    • Post Scripts says:

Again you have taken a mighty swing at America and missed. Cuba does not have a better healthcare system than we do. It was pretty good when the USSR was subsidizing their healthcare. Hospitals were well equipment, staff was well trained, costs were extremely low but so were wages. Since the USSR dropped out due to bankruptcy, Cuba’s healthcare system has been on the decline. Hospitals are clean enough, but inside the equipment is antiquated. If you have something simple to deal with the care is streamlined and efficient, but if its something complex and you are poor you are in trouble. Then the system fails you.

“No system is without its flaw, however. They reuse syringes and needles because they can’t afford more hygienic disposable ones. They use half-century-old sterilization techniques. People get stabbed in the rump instead of swallowing a pill. They have no standards, so safety can vary from doctor to doctor. These are symptoms of a society with no money. The less money you have, the more shortcuts you’re forced to make.”

The Cuban docs push preventative medicine because its far more cost effective and that’s fine….but, “If you do not have a contact or money to pay under the table, the waiting time for all but emergency procedures can be ridiculously long.

Many Cubans complain that top-level government and Communist Party officials have access to VIP health treatment, while ordinary people must queue from dawn for a routine test, with no guarantee that the allotted numbers will not run out before it is their turn.

And while the preventative healthcare system works well for children, women over the age of 40 are being shortchanged because yearly mammograms are not offered to the population at large.”

Dewey we have on scratched the surface of all that is wrong with the communist healthcare system in Cuba, so I recommend you go there and check it out. Get vaccinated with a used needle too.

      • Libby says:

Jack, there’s a gadget, it’s called an autoclave; it works real well, and, widely used would put the wasteful “disposable” industry out of business … well, it would, if, here in America, employing people took priority over investor profits.

You have to accept the fact that if Cuba’s socialist state did not more or less work, the citizens would not have put up with it, lo, these many years.

        • Tina says:

I wouldn’t mind if the disposable industry died of natural causes. The thing that would be offensive and undesirable to me is using the force of government to make it happen! You lefties are big bullies in this respect.

Disposables came into use for several good reasons including the health of patients. They are apparently more cost effective than sterilization methods as well.

In terms of jobs, if your autoclave were substituted all of the jobs involved with making and packaging disposables would be lost. Your argument has holes in it in addition to being bossy and offensive.

Re Cuba’s citizens. Are you really that stupid? There’s a reason Little Cuba exists in Florida. The good Cuban citizens whose land and businesses were taken or who are being held in prisons have no voice nor do their many relatives.

Cuban human rights activist urges U.S. to suspend trade and investment in Cuba until regime stops oppression:

Dissident: Trump should halt Obama’s trade move with Cuba

One of Cuba’s most prominent human rights activists is in the U.S. to push for a halt or suspension of U.S.-Cuba trade and investment changes that he and other leaders say are enriching and empowering the Castro regime.

In an exclusive interview with FoxNews.com, Guillermo Farinas said the Trump administration should halt or undo the Obama administration’s move to open up trade and business deals with Cuba until the Cuban government commits to making democratic reforms.

Farinas, who has been jailed by Cuban authorities for his activism for human rights, said President Obama’s easing of trade restrictions is enriching the regime of Raul Castro, and hardly benefiting the Cuban people.

Farinas has been tirelessly traveling to several states, including Florida, New York, New Jersey and Washington D.C., meeting with members of Congress, Cuban exile leaders, United Nations officials and representatives of leading human rights organizations to build support for a U.S.-Cuba policy that takes a tougher approach to the Cuban government.

“The people of Cuba see very little of the money that comes in from foreign investment and trade,” Farinas told FoxNews.com

“It makes the regime richer, and stronger, and bolder, because they have felt that because of President Obama’s decision to do business with it, it has credibility internationally,” he said. “It uses this international credibility to thumb its nose at the Cuban people, especially its critics and dissidents. And it’s gotten more brutal and more intolerant of dissent.”

He also said the Cuban people have been isolated and opening the country to tourists was a good idea because it exposed the people to different views. (see video)

          • Libby says:

Yes, yer capitalists took it in the slats, but you know I’m not gonna get too worked up over that … capitalists being the short-sighted, mercenary so-and-sos that they are … they bring this sort of thing down upon themselves.

    • Pie Guevara says:

Re: “Cuba has Better healthcare than we do.”

Again Dewey blesses Post Scripts with his abject ignorance and idiotic pomposity. Dewey, do you enjoy making an ass of yourself?

Cuban “healthcare” is a fraud. Go look it up, dimwit.

    • Tina says:

Well at least Castro, his elitist upper crust following and assorted visiting Hollywood tools have “good” healthcare…the regular folk, not so much.

Hot Air posted about two different studies that found Cuba’s superior healthcare is a myth:

According to a study conducted by the group International SOS ranking every nation on Earth for the risks associated with seeking health care inside their borders, Cuba was among the many “high risk” (colored orange) nations for visitors who happen to fall ill while traveling abroad.

In fact, travelers are more likely to receive proper medical care in nations like the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama and Colombia than they are to get sound care in Cuba. … “Many Cubans complain that top-level government and Communist Party officials have access to VIP health treatment, while ordinary people must queue from dawn for a routine test, with no guarantee that the allotted numbers will not run out before it is their turn,” Lucia Newman, a former Cuban resident, wrote for Al Jazeera in 2012. “The system is free, but it is neither fast nor efficient for two important reasons. One is obviously the lack of financial resources, and the other – which is related to the first – is the “export” of doctors, nurses and dentists in exchange for hard currency.”

“Over the years, I have heard many complain about the deteriorating quality of the services offered. One of the problems is that no small number of Cuban doctors have left the country looking for better opportunities abroad,” she added. “They are considered deserters.”

But who could blame them, considering that Cuban doctors are paid by the state an average of between $30 and $50 per month for their services.

None of this will be a problem for the anticipated new industry of American medical tourism to Cuba, where wealthy and credulous urbanites will fly to Havana for the thrill of exotic surgery. They will get the best care that this island prison nation can provide, of course, but only at the expense of the indigenous people.

The trouble with Dewey’s “bar None” argument is it’s as phony as the Marx based propaganda that fosters the mythology.

    • Peggy says:

LOL Dewey. You believe what the Cuban gov’t reports about their health care and education. Boy are you gullible.

      Cuba Manipulating Health Care Statistics:

“Experts: Socialist regime trying to enhance its legitimacy

“The Cuban government’s approach to health and health care seems to prioritize the health of ‘the revolution’ above the health of individual patients,” she said. “This means doctors must hit specific statistical targets for their communities.”

Doctors in Cuba’s public health system are pressured to induce abortions for potentially problematic pregnancies in order to artificially lower the infant mortality rate. Stusser estimated that if the deaths of living fetuses older than 21 weeks had been reported, Cuba’s infant mortality rate would be at least 50 percent higher.

Hirschfeld said there is reason to be “skeptical” of PAHO’s data because it relies on self-reported health statistics that are not independently verified.
Cuban officials have been reluctant to acknowledge disease outbreaks in the last couple decades despite multiple reports. A cholera outbreak beginning in July 2012 sickened hundreds and killed at least three people.

Hirschfeld said she contracted dengue fever while in eastern Cuba and was placed in a crowded hospital, where no medications were offered and medical assistance was limited. Patients who could walk helped the more severely ill, and all of them were expected to have their own dishes and utensils.

Cuba actually eradicated diseases such as smallpox and yellow fever in the early 1900s—before the United States did, Stusser said. However, Castro’s nationalization of the health system banned private initiatives and public-private partnerships, hampering Cuba’s biotechnology industry and drug development.

Cuba now has a glut of poorly trained family doctors, and many of the best health care facilities are reserved for elites and foreigners, Stusser said. Thousands of doctors have defected.”

Ted Cruz: The Truth about Fidel and Raul

There is more than enough evidence to judge the Castros’ legacy for what it is: the systematic exploitation and oppression of the Cuban people. Two decades of “Castro-is-dead” rumors are finally at an end. And the race is on to see which world leader can most fulsomely praise Fidel Castro’s legacy, while delicately averting their eyes from his less savory characteristics. Two duly-elected leaders of democracies who should know better, Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and American president Barack Obama, are leading the way. Mr. Trudeau praised Castro as a “legendary revolutionary and orator” who “made significant improvements to the education and health care of his island nation.” Mr. Obama offered his “condolences” to the Cuban people, and blandly suggested that “history will record and judge the enormous impact of this singular figure.” Now, he added, we can “look to the future.”

With all due respect to Mr. Obama, the 60 years Fidel Castro spent systematically exploiting and oppressing the people of Cuba provide more than enough history to pass judgment on both Fidel and, now more importantly, his brother Raul.

  6. No Longer Deplorable J Soden says:

Obumble should have offered his condolences to the Cuban people who have suffered mightily under the Castros. Once again, our narcissist-in-chief got it WRONG!

Anyone else wanna bet that Obumble will attend the Castro memorial? After all, it’s another chance for him to travel on Air Farce One at taxpayer expen$e before he gets outta office . . . . . .

  7. No Longer Deplorable J Soden says:

Remember that all of those so-called “journalists” who are lauding Castro now are the same “journalists”(presstitutes) that tried to convince us of the certainty of a $hrilLIARy prezidency.
They’ve gone from touting $hrilLIARy to outright promotion of communism and their words should NEVER be trusted again!

  8. No Longer Deplorable J Soden says:

After Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau’s lauding of Fidel’s history, some folks at Twitter decided to opine:

Hypocrite leftist snowflakes cry for Fidel Castro

  10. Pie Guevara says:

Obama sent no US representatives to Margaret Thatcher’s funeral in 2013 but sends two to Fidel Castro’s funeral to “show respect.”

    What does that tell you?
