Trump Border Wall a Go in San Diego County

Posted by Tina

Life is strange. California is threatening to become a sanctuary state in defiance of Trump’s immigration policy but Trumps border wall will get it’s start in San Diego County in the community of Otay Mesa. The project begins with prototypes:

Of the possible border locations in the region, building the prototypes near the Otay Mesa crossing makes the most sense because it allows companies to test out designs in a heavily trafficked area that still has room and flexibility, according to Eric Frost, director of San Diego State University’s graduate program in homeland security.

Frost, interviewed before the location was confirmed by the federal agency, said Otay Mesa would be a better place to start than the desert to the east or near a river — often empty locales.

“A lot of trucks already use it,” he said of the Otay Mesa crossing. “You want to look at how they actually interact with the fence.”

Companies participating in the bidding process have been threatened. In California Representative Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D-San Diego) co-authored Assembly Bill 946, to punish any construction company that participates in the building the wall. The bill would liquidate stock held in the state’s two large pensions, the California Public Employee Retirement System and the California State Teachers Retirement System. This seems to me to be a stupid move since both pensions have not done all that well the last two years.

Even more disturbing are the death threats received by Michael Evangelisa-Ysasaga, CEO of The Penna Group.

Evangelisa-Ysasaga’s grandfather came to America illegally. It is his hope that securing the border will create conditions for immigration reform:

‘It is our hope that once we secure our borders, which is the right and duty of every nation, then I think, at that point, we’ll be able to have a rational, productive conversation about comprehensive immigration.’

If his company wins the bidding war we wish him and his crew well. It’s a sad state of affairs when construction workers have to work in fear for their lives.

Border crossings are down 60% according to AG Jeff Sessions who said that Trumps strong leadership is the reason. It is incredible what happens when laws are enforced and a strong stance is taken in favor of legal entry.

The tunnels buddy the tunnels. A Wall is a bunch of crap to block us in.

Amazing people are clueless about what goes on at the border.

Btw why don’t you crowdfund your Berlin wall. The rest of us need to rebuild infrastructure. Clean water and food.

Mexico was never paying for a stupid wall we are. Next a Canadian wall and we are trapped…nice

What about the people whose properties end up on the Mexico side? What about the land seizure? Them Texans gonna take it?

My favorite is the golf course that makes ya go to Mexico to do about 18 holes then come back….lol

Keep wondering how differently we would be dealing with illegal immigrants crossing out southern border if our history hadn’t been rewritten. Those not old enough to remember the 1960s at least would have had the facts and not a political party’s agenda to base their opinion on.

Icon Cesar Chavez was anti-illegals to his core. He led groups of US farmers to the us border to stop “wetbacks” (his word not mine) from crossing the river.

He had the support of Bobby Kennedy, who visited him during his hunger strike, and JFK. Chavez was with Bobby when he was shot in LA.

He founded the UFW/United Farm Workers union to protect the jobs of US farmers from the illegals who took their jobs for lower wages. Chavez and the Kennedys understood the negative economic impact illegals had on the farm workers and their local communities.

In the 1990s-2000s I was honored to have had several of Cesar Chavez’s nieces and nephews as my student workers. It’s shameful today’s students aren’t being taught the truth denying Chavez’s rightful place in history alongside MLK and Gandhi.

Cesar Chavez Used The Term “Wetbacks” and “Illegals” to Describe Migrant Workers from Mexico:

Cesar Chavez: Anti-Immigration to His Union Core:

“Call it the whitewash of Cesar Chavez. Yes, that Cesar Chavez: the late farm worker unionizer (he died in 1993) honored repeatedly by President Obama. The man the Left loves to name drop for his role in organizing all-those grape and lettuce and melon pickers in the day.

But there is a considerable twist to the story. In fact, Cesar Chavez believed ferociously in the border of the United States — because that border protected his union. So ferociously did he hold this view that the New York Times ran a story detailing an accusation that the union Chavez founded, the United Farm Workers, set up a 100 mile “wet line” to keep “wetbacks” and “illegals” — yes, all of those are Chavez’s words — out of the United States. So let’s go back in the time machine to the period when Chavez was rocketing to fame.

Cesar Chavez was deeply opposed to illegal immigration. But the question here is why.

The fact is that just as Americans along the southern border today want it sealed to protect their private property or the safety of their families, Cesar Chavez wanted desperately to protect his union from illegal border crossings by

Mexican “strikebreakers.” At core, Chavez was demanding — like property owners along the border today — that the sovereignty of the United States be respected. Those who remember Chavez recall him vividly as a committed Chicano activist who neither minced words nor shied away from acting on his beliefs. And in doing so, he put himself firmly on record against illegal immigration.

Here is Chavez himself on video from a September 25, 1972 interview with KQED in San Francisco, explaining just why he opposes illegal immigration — along the way using the terms “wetbacks” and “illegals.” (Both terms are considered offensive today, the latter being banned from usage by the Los Angeles Times, the Associated Press, and others.) Says Chavez in the interview: “As long as we have a poor country bordering California its going to be very difficult to win strikes as strikes are won normally by other unions with the employer.” He goes on to discuss a strike his union was involved with against a gas and oil company, saying:

…where we closed them down, they were unable to get strikebreakers, or they’d gotten very few. And then all of a sudden yesterday morning, they brought in 220 wetbacks — these are the illegals — from Mexico. Now, there’s no way to defend against that kind of strikebreaking…

More people are going home than crossing over…..

We have bigger problems than some fake wall that will blow up the debt

The amount of money trump is spending on Bombs and security as his family travels the world for business is gonna blow up the debt to where we may not be able to overcome it

cause his next big act is to reduce revenue
