I Once Thought of Myself as Regular Guy

posted by Jack

I used to think I was just a regular guy, but . . .

I was born white, which now, whether I like it or not, makes me a racist.

I am a fiscal and moral conservative, which by today’s standards, makes me a fascist.

I am heterosexual, which according to gay folks, now makes me a homophobic.

I am non-union, which makes me a traitor to the working class and an ally of big business.

I am a Christian, which now labels me as an infidel.

I believe in the 2nd Amendment, which now makes me a member of the vast gun lobby.

I am older than 60, which makes me a bit less than I used to be.

I think and I reason, therefore I doubt much that the main stream media tells me, which must make me a reactionary.

I am proud of my heritage and our inclusive American culture, which makes me a xenophobe.

I value my safety and that of my family and I appreciate the police and the legal system, which makes me a right-wing extremist.

I believe in hard work, fair play, and fair compensation according to each individual’s merits, which today makes me an anti-socialist.

I believe in the defense and protection of the homeland for and by all citizens, which now makes me a militant.

Recently, a sick old woman called me and my friends a “basket of deplorables”.

I need to thank all my friends for sticking with me through these abrupt, new found challenges in my life and my thinking!

I just can’t imagine or understand what’s happened to me so quickly!

Funny, it’s all just taken place over the last 7 or 8 years!

And if all this crap wasn’t enough to deal with. I’m now afraid to go into either restroom!

Because I am collecting Social Security, I am now a “freeloader”.

Because I am a veteran, I am now a potential “domestic terrorist”.

  2. Tina says:

Jack it’s downright other worldly how you’ve changed!

Because you watch football you are violent with wife-beater tendencies.

Because you are white you are privileged.

  3. Harold says:

Does this blog make you a radical activist as well,?

What about all the volunteer work you do, if it is not orientated toward some social liberal program, what does that make you?

  4. Libby says:

Poor Jack. You are not a racist because you are white, but because you repeatedly draw distinctions between your fellow beings based on race. Black people do it too, you know.

So stuff the simpleton schtick. And for heaven’s sake … what grounds have you really got for this profound sense of persecution?

    • Tina says:

Stuff it yourself, Libby. Jack is describing the inanity you and your comrades spew in a creative way and having fun while doing it.

You are your usual bigoted, sour, PC self.

  5. J. Soden says:

And because I voted for TheDonald, I am a bigot and all of the above.
And because I disagree with many on the Left, other folks posting here have resorted to name-calling and baseless accusations.
And I should be strung up by the thumbs for the audacity of wanting the political ruling class that infests DC to be fumigated!

Got news for you on the Left – pound sand! My thoughts are NOT gonna to kowtow to yours nor will I stop speaking up. Period!

I’m not a liberal progressive democrat, because I don’t want to give up my freedom and rights to the control of local, state and federal governments.

I am a Constitutional Conservative because the government is supposed to work for me/the people, as our Founders designed in this great experiment of America.

I am a patriot, because like those who died to preserve my rights I too will lay down my life for future generations.

Bonhoeffer: “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”

It was just announced on the radio a George Washington park in Chicago is being proposed to be renamed and his statue removed.

Great comments, thank you, thank you.

    From the internet.

All I can say besides AMEN!!!! is that I wish I had written this!!!

This is an excellent read. Thank you to the author, ElyDoran : There is no question that Indeed we don’t care if the guy swears… or how many times he’s been married…or who he voted for, or what his income tax return shows or what he tweets. We want the problems fixed. Yes he’s an egomaniac, but we don’t care. We know he’s not a racist,or a bigot or bad to women, or all the other things the liberal media is trying to label him with. We know he’s raised a good family, and that says a lot about him.

The country is a mess because politicians suck, the Republican Party is two faced & gutless, and illegals are everywhere and Muslims are openly trying to hurt this country and make the civilized world adjust to them. We want it all fixed!

We don’t care that Trump is crude, we don’t care that he has changed positions, we don’t care that he did fights with Megan Kelly, Rosie O’Donnell and other FAKE NEWS outlets, and the so many of the elected establishment. We don’t care that Mitch McConnell, Ryan,Lindsey Graham, the Bush’s, and so many other top old and new Republicans refuse to endorse him for their own selfish reasons, and we know what they are. We don’t care that he doesn’t know the name of some Muslim terrorists, we don’t care that he tried some businesses that didn’t work out.

This country is weak, bankrupt, our enemies are making fun of us, we are being invaded by illegals, we are becoming a nation of victims, where every Tom, Ricardo and Hasid is a special group with special rights to a point where we don’t even recognize the country we were born and raised in, AND WE JUST WANT IT FIXED. And TRUMP is the only guy who seems to understand what the people want.

We’re sick of politicians, sick of the Democratic and Republican Party. We’re angry about the Iran deal, the budget, Obama care and treatment of Israel, military weakness, lobbyists, special interests, overpaid politicians with their self serving bills and back room deals, trade deals, loss of jobs, manipulated economic numbers, businesses fleeing, and the hateful liberal loving news media,

Americans are no longer going to be fooled, and the movement is out to change the direction we’re taking. Trump may not be a saint, but he doesn’t have lobbyist money holding him, he doesn’t have political correctness restraining him, and all you know is that he has been very successful, a good negotiator, he has built a lot of things, he’s flexible, and he’s also not a politician..and he says he’ll fix it. and we believe him because he is too much of an egotist to be proven wrong or looked at and called a liar.

Public service has become elected greed. This may be our only chance to have a non-politician, despite his flaws, try and correct the mess, at least for the next 4 years. We must and have taking the shot, well we know that the consequences of putting Hillary Clinton in office were frightening.

There is a tidal wave happening, and its going to overcome much of what’s happened to this country.
