The Email

by Jack

Email from a friend: To call the quagmire in our government a swamp does a disservice to swamps. What we have is a cesspit of venomous vipers that are willing to take down the presidency and the country to protect their fiefdoms. These pit-dwellers are vile and bloated with power over the people of America. They tax trillions of our dollars to spend on causes that further their agendas of hate and discontent. They are winning.

President Trump is surrounded with traitorous party members that smile to his face while plotting his demise. The Progressive Socialist Party gloats and sneers at the President’s inability to hold his commitments to the people that elected him. There will be no draining of the pit. There will be no flushing of the sewage mains, and there will not be reforms. Why should there be? Why would the creatures of the swamp want to end their own circus ride? The dwellers are paid and fed, chauffeured and quaffed on our dime. They arrive penniless and leave rich. They spew their ignorance of governance with bombast and fistlets of faux rage.

I despise my government because they despise me. I curse them because they curse me. I fear them because I cannot strike back.

The ballot box did not work for us. Our votes meaningless.

What am I to do?

Email reply: Yep, I know, but you ask a tough question and I have no ready answer. Globally, we are fighting (half-assed) in a religious war on two fronts, where none of the combatants are worth a tinkers damn. This is basically a holy war that has been waging for over a millennia. At home, it’s a case of “death from a thousand cuts”: Our cops are vilified and criminals are glorified…and hows that working out? Ferguson, Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, and now Charlottesville, to name but a few and each one divides and scars us. And lets not forget San Bernadino, Boston, and that reminds me of Eric Holder with his work place violence at Ft. Hood. (Nothing to see here, move along folks!)

As strong as we may be at fighting external threats, we have a very weak, very divided society at home. Dopes and socialists want to erase our history and fundamentally transform America. Our society is getting dumber by the decade too!

How can we survive when we have too many doing only what’s good for them and not what is good for America? There’s too many takers, too many wearing blinders and too many opportunists looking to exploit whatever comes, be it Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, LaRazza, MoveOn.org, Meccha, Earth First, etc.

The pressure keeps building and building….and some day our bubble is going to burst. How could it not?

Maybe ignorance is bliss? Let’s turn off the news, have a beer and watch a ballgame while we still can.

  1. Libby says:

    “Maybe ignorance is bliss?”

Can you be ignorant of a situation existing ONLY in your own head? It would seem to possess you, actually.

“… be it Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, LaRazza, MoveOn.org, Meccha, Earth First, etc.”

And all you have are the Klansmen? That is a bummer.

    • Post Scripts says:

Okay, let me add KKK, Neo Nazis, any extremist groups, left or right, that advocates violence for their own ends are abhorrent and wrong. Hows that?

      • Libby says:

It’s a start. But I’m telling you, seriously, what you complain about is what makes this a marvelous nation (for the time being). You can be a Klansman. You can go to your meetings and host your events. They are truly repulsive, but nobody is going to send them to the Gulag.

Even those arrested for taking to the streets in their helmets and torches and clubs: they make their bail, they serve their time, even if it’s for murder, and that’s all.

But you, with your “Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, LaRazza, MoveOn.org, Meccha, Earth First” seem to insist that these organizations have no business to exist. They do. If this is still America. So why do you get your knickers into such a twist over it all?

Shall I tell you why? Because your purveyors of “news” are nasty, button-pushing, prejudice-exploiting, sadistic entities that exist only to make a buck, and care nothing about this country whatsoever. And until you learn to take what they feed you with a grain of salt (or not at all), you’re gonna continue to be miserable and afraid … which is no way to live.

        • Post Scripts says:

Libby, but I am not a member of the Klan or anything like that. I have no meetings to go to, except at the AmVets.

          • Libby says:

It’s a figurative “you”, Jack … and you know that. Please don’t take up Tina’s rhetorical techniques. They are that annoying, and not at all productive.

It’s not about you. It’s about the Constitutional right of assembly … as long as you leave the torches and armament at home.

What I’m asking you is why assemblies of La Raza’s get your knickers into, oh, such a bunch?

        • Tina says:

“… but nobody is going to send them to the Gulag.”

Of course not, you lefties are much to civilized for that. No, it’s enough to create a language rule book and a band of willing soldiers to shame anyone who dares speak incorrectly. It’s enough to send armies of thugs out to run folks out of town rather than let them speak freely. It’s enough, for now, to send thugs out with rocks, bottles, cans filled with cement, bats, 2×4’s, pepper spray and lots of ginned up anger to intimidate and harm citizens who simply wish to express their own political preferences and assemble freely.

Yeah, your a real terrific little group…so much Luv! So tuned in to the ideals of individual freedom and individual rights.

“…seem to insist that these organizations have no business to exist. They do. If this is still America. So why do you get your knickers into such a twist over it all?”

You’re not particularly steeped in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights or the rule of law so let me help you. NOBODY has suggested they, “have no business to exist.”

We are saying that none of us has the “right” to riot, burn down buildings, break windows, intentionally intimidate and bully with intent to do physical harm, prevent others from speaking or assembling peacefully or moving about freely. NONE OF US! It is particularly offensive that your party pays people to do this, that your party welcomes them into your tent, and that you promote them as if they were “victims” of some imaginary wrong.

“Because your purveyors of “news” are nasty…blah, blah blah… that exist only to make a buck, and care nothing about this country whatsoever.”

You can say that all day…it doesn’t make it true. It’s your opinion and it’s flat out wrong. Of course it does offer you an excuse for not engaging your opponents…much easier to malign and dismiss.

” And until you learn to take what they feed you with a grain of salt…”

There’s that arrogance…if only the world would listen to YOU!

The media your comrades are likely to listen to is deranged about Trump…as planned!

On Monday, following the Charlottesville mayhem and murder over the weekend, NK backed down from it’s aggressive stance and Iran threatened to restore (ha) its nuclear program…yet on CBS Evening News 100% of it’s time was dedicated to bashing Trump regarding his remarks on Charlottesville. 100%!

Brent Bozell of https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2017/08/15/nets-spend-77-percent-evening-news-wild-trump-presser“>NewsBusters has the complete rundown by alphabet channel, which includes this:

And it had been a day since Politico published a damaging story about how the “Obama team was warned in 2014 about Russian interference,” and did little to stop it. “There was no explicit warning of a threat to U.S. elections,” they wrote. “But the official said some diplomats and national security officials in Moscow felt the administration was too quick to dismiss the possibility that the Kremlin incursions could reach the United States.” There was no mention of this story on Monday or Tuesday.

And for all of their coverage of the Trump’s press conference, the Big Three Networks didn’t discuss the President’s infrastructure proposal in any detail. NBC was the lone network to mention it, but it was only to describe why the conference was called at all.

“…you’re gonna continue to be miserable and afraid”

You are pathetic. If anyone is afraid (too ignorant to be miserable) it is you…afraid to face the real problems in the world, afraid to face the failures of the ideology you’ve embraced, afraid to admit to the corruption in your party, and too afraid to say anything here (most of the time) but a slew of judgemental, bigoted slurs.

You pretend to stand up for “marginalized” people…and then set about trying to demean and thus marginalize those who share an opposing point of view. It’s so phony and duplicitous.

      • Tina says:

        Regarding your clarification to Libby….

        Predictably insufficient, Jack…as with Trump.

Those Democrats are like peas in a pod!

    • Peggy says:

“And all you have are the Klansmen? That is a bummer.”

Wrong! YOUR party gave birth to the “Klansmen.” Remember?!

Oh that’s right you all tried to rewrite history and were even somewhat successful for those who believed the lies you were teaching.

Great job Libs, you get credit for all of them that have and are trying to destroy the country for their individual gains. Boy, what a “bummer” to have so little to really be proud of.

We on the right just have the Constitution we keep fighting for no matter how many times you try to rip it up and throw it away.

      • Chris says:

Wrong! YOUR party gave birth to the “Klansmen.” Remember?!

Yes, and now the Klansmen are on the right. It was not called a “Unite the Left” rally, was it?

Really, what do you think you are accomplishing by constantly bringing up that the Democrats created the KKK–which everyone here knows and has not been “hidden from history” in any way you can demonstrate–while ignoring that the KK and every other white supremacist organization in the country now identifies with the right and vocally supported the Republican candidate for president? You are not educating anyone, you are not making any kind of coherent point other than “Neener neener, you started it!” All you are doing is making yourself and people who think like you feel better by dodging accountability.

I hope it at least feels good.

        • Tina says:

The Klansmen are not “on the right” in the way you and your party imply, Chris. You should be embarrassed that you do not see, or will not acknowledge, the difference.

Democrats created the KKK and participated in the activities of the KKK as civilians and as elected officials! They fought civil rights legislation clear into the sixties. They were the ones ordering the use of and holding the hoses!

The KKK may vote for Republicans, they have that right, but the party has never endorsed or accepted them. In fact we have resoundingly rejected them!

The only thing we on the right have done is defend their right to peacefully assemble and speak, something all Americans should support.

Any idea why your party defends the groups that are determined to prevent and deny fellow citizens their constitutional rights of speech and assembly?

This is a good time to make very, very clear that the Republican Party, or people who call themselves conservative, are not radical or violent. The notion is patently false…absurd…utter nonsense. It is a figment of the left political smear and spin machine. It’s propaganda so successful that even weak bubble dwellers in the Republican Party fear being smeared by it. It is a lie, a total myth, perpetrated by Democrats through the years, that lives on like a slow growing cancer.

This lie will destroy our nation if it’s not exposed and rejected. It will destroy young lives if we stand silent and let it be pushed in our schools and colleges.

The only people “dodging accountability” are you on the left who justify and defend the violent organizations that are hell bent on denying constitutional rights and destroying property and assaulting people in the process. It is you on the left who take the actions of a single crazy person and assign it to include the entire right…but hey, I guess it makes you “feel good.”

Your party and it’s media arm is controlled by a band of devious, unscrupulous, underhanded, corrupt, self-serving individuals who will do anything for power and money.

  2. Rick Clements says:

You are spot on Jack! What do we need Universities for? Let’s take those Public properties, level them all, and turn them into car lots where lying is expected and the words “Trust me!” are met with comical disgust.

    • Post Scripts says:

Well despite some issues with our colleges over race based graduation ceremonies and some ultra left attitudes on gov, I still appreciate the educational opportunities. Lets not turn them into parking lots just yet! lol

  3. Libby says:

Remember Mitt Romney? You once wanted him to be your President? Now I want him to be our President, because he says:

“I will dispense for now from discussion of the moral character of the president’s Charlottesville statements. Whether he intended to or not, what he communicated caused racists to rejoice, minorities to weep, and the vast heart of America to mourn. His apologists strain to explain that he didn’t mean what we heard. But what we heard is now the reality, and unless it is addressed by the president as such, with unprecedented candor and strength, there may commence an unraveling of our national fabric.

“The leaders of our branches of military service have spoken immediately and forcefully, repudiating the implications of the president’s words. Why? In part because the morale and commitment of our forces–made up and sustained by men and women of all races–could be in the balance. Our allies around the world are stunned and our enemies celebrate; America’s ability to help secure a peaceful and prosperous world is diminished. And who would want to come to the aid of a country they perceive as racist if ever the need were to arise, as it did after 9/11?

“In homes across the nation, children are asking their parents what this means. Jews, blacks, Hispanics, Muslims are as much a part of America as whites and Protestants. But today they wonder. Where might this lead? To bitterness and tears, or perhaps to anger and violence?

“The potential consequences are severe in the extreme. Accordingly, the president must take remedial action in the extreme. He should address the American people, acknowledge that he was wrong, apologize. State forcefully and unequivocally that racists are 100% to blame for the murder and violence in Charlottesville. Testify that there is no conceivable comparison or moral equivalency between the Nazis–who brutally murdered millions of Jews and who hundreds of thousands of Americans gave their lives to defeat–and the counter-protestors who were outraged to see fools parading the Nazi flag, Nazi armband and Nazi salute. And once and for all, he must definitively repudiate the support of David Duke and his ilk and call for every American to banish racists and haters from any and every association.

“This is a defining moment for President Trump. But much more than that, it is a moment that will define America in the hearts of our children. They are watching, our soldiers are watching, the world is watching. Mr. President, act now for the good of the country.”

  4. Libby says:

My goodness, what a morning! Oh, happy, happy, happy dance! I am doing a happy dance:

“Ben Shapiro, a former editor at Breitbart who has been critical of Bannon and the website since he left, wrote in a column, “Bannon is deeply vengeful, and supremely ambitious. He has already held the most powerful job he will ever have — unless, of course, his new job is to destroy Trump from the outside.'”

You are very fortunate that we do not gulag white nationalists. You’d cannibalize each other to the last man in about … oh … six months.

  5. Libby says:

And in conclusion … Tina Fey … sheet caking … don’t miss it!

  6. Tina says:

Cancel your happy dance Libby, it’s at the very least premature.

Romney’s likely considering a run for the presidency…so he plays what he believes is a necessary card given the state of the mainstream media. It’s a game all politicians play and it’s phony as hell. Another reason people like Trump. They are sick of the games and false promises.

The Conservative Treehouse, “Well, Well, Well – President Trump Flips Bannon The Zippo?…”

“If there’s any confusion out there, let me clear it up: I’m leaving the White House and going to war for Trump against his opponents — on Capitol Hill, in the media, and in corporate America.” ~ Stephen K Bannon

(Via Bloomberg) […] According to a person close to Bannon, he met Wednesday with conservative billionaire Robert Mercer, co-chief executive of Renaissance Technologies and a major financial supporter of both Trump and Bannon’s efforts. The two mapped out a path ahead for Bannon’s post-White House career and discussed how Trump could get his agenda back on track.

The following evening, Mercer and several other major Republican donors had dinner with Trump to share their thinking, and Mercer also had a private meeting with Trump to pledge to redouble his efforts to support Bannon and advance Trump’s agenda.

Breitbart, “‘Populist Hero’ Stephen K. Bannon Returns Home to Breitbart”

Bannon joined the Trump campaign on August 17, 2016 — nearly one year ago to the day of his return to Breitbart. He submitted his intention to leave the White House on August 7 of this year.

“White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and Steve Bannon have mutually agreed today would be Steve’s last day,” said White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders Friday afternoon. “We are grateful for his service and wish him the best.”

The Drudge Report hailed Bannon as a “populist hero” who enjoyed an “impressive run” during his tenure as President Trump’s top White House strategist and campaign CEO.

Your media lies and twists and news…it makes things up!

This change was mutually agreed upon and strategic.

The Last Refuge, “Media Stunned – President Trump Support Stronger Than Ever, and Growing…”

    These voters get it.

The Conservative Treehouse, “A Party In Crisis – Anti Trump Approach and Identity Politics Collapsing Democrat Party Support…”

While the overwhelming majority of corporate media punditry and opinion broadcasts paint a picture of President Trump and the larger republican/deplorable party in retreat, the actual data, outside the influence of media, shows a completely divergent truth.

The Democrats are in serious trouble; and it’s only getting worse.

The latest self-admissions by the larger American electorate on Party Affiliation show the number of people identifying as Democrat has slipped to 28%. That matches the lowest number of registered democrats recorded in the past decade.

For comparison, in November 2016, just before the presidential election, the number of registered voters identifying as Democrat was 31%. Conversely the number of registered voters identifying as Republican is also 28%. However, that’s actually an increase of one point from November when the number was 27%. … Data is power; and the scale of the small donor list generated by candidate Trump was like nothing the Republican party had seen in the entire history of the Republican party. And, even more stunningly, Donald Trump had achieved this feat in only a few short months.

As an example, in June 2016 Presidential Candidate Donald Trump had over 400,000 SMALL DONOR contributions IN A SINGLE MONTH. That’s 400,000 people each giving under $200. Bigly. Candidate Trump, now President Trump, gained more small donors in a few short months than the entire Republican party had assembled in the past eight years (four election cycles) COMBINED. … A way to explain to your friends and family.

Think of yourself taking your small circle of friends to an empty football stadium. While they take a seat you walk out to the middle of the field and place a dime on the 50-yard-line. Upon return to your seat you turn to your friends and say:

“you see that dime on the fifty yard line? That represents the entirety of the corporate media who tell you what is going on.”

“You see the scale of the rest of the field in comparison to that dime? Well, that’s the scale of the consuming pubic who have access to alternate media resources, beyond those espoused by voices represented under the media’s dime.”

“Now can you see how perspectives from under the media dime can be so out of touch with the reality of the geography?”

GOP elites are standing on the side of those who would deny free speech and assembly and lie about what the President said…a bunch of out of touch DC bubble dwellers or as corrupt and compromised as their corrupt piers in your party.

The American Spectator, “At the Orgy of Self-Righteousness – Naturally, the stupid party and its spokesmen desperately want an invite to it.”:

it is an enormous lie that Trump ever called white nationalists very fine people. He explicitly condemned them. His comment was obviously referring to the non-racist protesters dismayed by the removal of Lee’s statue. Notice that nobody in the press actually quotes Trump’s statement, since that would expose their “reporting” as despicable propaganda worthy of a Soviet show trial.

The fake news has never been faker, as puffed-chest “anchors” instruct their audiences to trust their dishonest paraphrase of Trump’s remarks. And of course here too the “conservative” press joined in the journalistic malpractice. The politically correct weenies at the New York Post, for example, ran outrageously dishonest headlines about Trump calling the white supremacists fine people.

A parade of “conservative” prognosticators and effete Republicans say that this controversy will inflict permanent damage on Trump. Before you take their comments seriously, go back and look at what these cocky jackasses said about Trump’s chances in the Republican primaries. If any of these frauds ever tried to run against Trump, he would crush them. Pundits on stations with anemic ratings, and pols who couldn’t win their own states, claim that they speak for the “country.”

These dolts still don’t get it. Trump won the presidency not in spite of his defiance of conventional wisdom but because of it. And he will win re-election for the same reason. If anything, the hidden Trump vote will increase. Trump’s strength is that he refuses to go wobbly in the face of fashionable lies — a trait no Republican president since Reagan has displayed.

The American spectator, “Gray Lives Matter – Democrats could always become known as the new Vandals”

When does history turn “Democrat” into some euphemism for chutzpah for destroying monuments to Democrats all the while blaming Republicans for their existence? … An NPR/PBS/Marist poll indicates that the vast majority of Americans wish for the memorials to remain. Nearly two-thirds of respondents prefer the monuments to stay put while just over a quarter want them gone. Though the people of the democracy want one thing, the politicians of the Democracy want another.

One politician endures daily abuse for standing with the majority of the people, who, surely, find their position grounded in something other than bigotry. (Can anyone really find 62 percent of Americans guilty of racism?) … An amnesia vibe rings out over the din of the chants of the protesters. Current Democrats crusade against past Democrats, who include chief justices, presidents, senators, and other major figures who proudly affixed a “D” to the end of their names. All the while, the crusaders imagine — and succeed in getting large swaths of the public to buy into their collective hallucination — that they fight Republican racism in their war on statues.

The Democratic Party can erase American history standing in the middle of the rotary or riding atop a horse on a pedestal in the park or hiding on an island seven miles from a city. Erasing its own history proves more difficult.

You belong to a destructive, angry, resentful, hate filled party Libby. It has no positive ideas to bring the American people relief they desperately need after eight years of failure and depression era conditions. It’s only goal is destruction….and you’re happy dancing? For what?

        Yer kidding me, right?

Salon: “If the early stories coming out of Breitbart (which Bannon officially rejoined on Friday night) are any indication, he [Bannon] will first concentrate on settling scores. Here are a couple of headlines from over the weekend: “McMaster Of Disguise: Nat’l Security Adviser Endorsed Book That Advocates Quran-Kissing Apology Ceremonies” and “Report: Ivanka Trump Helped Push Steve Bannon out of the White House.”

The New York Times reported that Bannon had met with Breitbart benefactors Robert and Rebekah Mercer on Monday night to plan his post-White House strategy. According to Axios, it’s a much bigger deal than little old Breitbart.com:

Bannon has told friends he sees a massive opening to the right of Fox News, raising the possibility that he’s going to start a network. . . . He believes Fox is heading in a squishy, globalist direction as the Murdoch sons assume more power. . . . His chief financial backer, Long Island hedge fund billionaire Bob Mercer, is ready to invest big in what’s coming next, including a huge overseas expansion of Breitbart News.

Bannon may be right that Fox is a shadow of its former self. But the problem isn’t that it’s become squishy and “globalist.” It’s that for the last 20 years the whole network was pretty much a brothel, and since the departure of the sexual harasser Bill O’Reilly and the sexually harassed Megyn Kelly, its only “star” is Trump’s smarmy sycophant Sean Hannity. Most importantly, the network lost Roger Ailes at the helm, the TV impresario who understood the Fox audience and would have understood how to effectively surf the Trump wave. Ratings are down and the network seems lost without him.”

        ***

An enabler of spite? An economic wave to be surfed? A mine of ignorance to be plumbed? Peggy … you are made use of, manipulated, humiliated … repeatedly. I’d be embarrassed. Why aren’t you embarrassed?

You’ve got to be kidding me!

Salon, apologists for sleaze, calls FOX a brothel? That’s rich.

The unsubstantiated claims are meaningless at this point…claims made quite suddenly after many years of working in these so-called deplorable conditions by ambitious women who got more cash and another job?

These women are as bad as Anita Hill and her little pals who waited thirty years to make equally specious claims. It has left dirty politics written all over it.

And there is absolutely no comparison of Sean Hannity to the many sycophantic partisan news hacks of ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and yes your precious NPR/PBS during the Obama years.

You’re the one that’s constantly humiliated. You’re just too arrogant to notice.

Bannon Says He’s ‘Going to War for Trump’ After White House Exit:

“Ousted White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon returned to the conservative Breitbart News website on Friday and said he’ll be “going to war” for President Donald Trump, vowing to intensify the fight he has waged against opponents of his brand of populist conservatism.

“If there’s any confusion out there, let me clear it up: I’m leaving the White House and going to war for Trump against his opponents — on Capitol Hill, in the media, and in corporate America,” Bannon told Bloomberg News Friday in his first public comments after his departure was announced.

Bannon led the evening editorial meeting at Breitbart, where he resumed his role as executive chairman, the website said in a statement. A person who was on the call said Bannon called on the group to “hunker down” and work like never before to advance conservative causes.

According to a person close to Bannon, he met Wednesday with conservative billionaire Robert Mercer, co-chief executive of Renaissance Technologies and a major financial supporter of both Trump and Bannon’s efforts. The two mapped out a path ahead for Bannon’s post-White House career and discussed how Trump could get his agenda back on track.

And this from Trump adviser Newt.

Gingrich: Steve Bannon Is A ‘Pirate’ Who’s Happier Outside The White House:

“Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Steve Bannon prefers “being a pirate” than working in the Trump administration as an adviser and will be happier returning to Breitbart News.

“Steve Bannon is much more of a free spirit. I once said that he was a pirate serving in the U.S. Navy. I think he preferred to go back to being a pirate, and he’ll be on the outside attacking things he doesn’t like, and offering ideas the president will sometimes adopt,” Gingrich said during a Monday interview with “Fox and Friends.”

Gingrich said there are “three key steps” Trump has to follow after ousting Bannon to get his legislative agenda back on track. Step one, take advantage of Chief of Staff John Kelly’s knowledge and experience. Step two, start thinking as a “team leader” and “team builder,” and finally limit self-inflicted damage.

“He’s got to quit stepping on himself,” Gingrich said. “He’s got to be more disciplined and he’s got to work as part of a team. And then I think generally he could end up being a remarkably great president, but he’s got to make a couple of midcourse corrections.”

Bannon went as far as he could to help get Trump into the WH, now he’s going to work from the outside to guarantee the agenda that voters voted for are fulfilled. And if that means taking out McConnell, McCain and the rest of the DC establishment on both sides, who are more concerned with their power over the good of the country, that’s what he’ll do.

Pour another drink Libs and refill your meds, cuz yous gonna need them. You all will go down in history as the party who failed again to destroy America.

Oh yeah, buy a crying towel and boxes of Kleenex too.

    • Chris says:

Again, that you side with leaders of the “alt-right” like Bannon and unprincipled scam artists like Trump over actual conservatives is…sad.

That you condemn the mainstream media while continuing to cite Breitbart and Gateway Pundit is downright embarrassing.

Calls for Trump to resign are now coming from inside the house. He’s going down…and you’ll be going down with him. Hopefully the conservatives you are now denouncing as “cowards” for having the balls to critique their own president will forgive you.

      • Tina says:

Sure Chris, You’re the one who told us Trump would never be elected. So much for what you think.

Trump is upending a corrupt DC…that tends to upset those that have compromised themselves and their principles for power and cash. The right media against Trump is expressing itself as much out of a sense of embarrassing loss as anything else. It’s shameful that they buy the extreme left’s smear of those of us who’ve had enough of lies and corruption.

In the news today, but probably not covered by left news: The American Thinker:

Remember Jonathan Gruber? The loathsome, contemptuous architect of Obamacare has been caught out by Vermont’s attorney general for corruption in a fraudulent billing scheme. According to the Daily Caller, Gruber sent out double-invoices and invoices for work that was never done in a disgusting scheme to foist single-payer insurance onto Vermont a couple years earlier. The program was so bad that its left-wing governor scrapped it as something that would never work. The Daily Caller writes:

Donovan, the attorney general and still another Democrat, said his office determined that Gruber did, in fact, violate the Vermont Civil False Claims Act, according to the Herald.

Specifically, investigators concluded that Gruber sent two invoices – and possibly more – falsely charging the state and its taxpayers for work which was never actually completed by Gruber or any of his underlings.

It sounds a lot like the man who succeeded in foisting Obamacare on all of us, given the sneaky, slipshod tactics he bragged about to get it done:

“Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass,” he said during one health care conference.

In at least the Vermont case, we learn that foisting bad insurance onto the public is also a scheme to get rich and profiteer in corruption.

While you and Bill Kristol, et all (I still admire them in many ways) have your attention on concerns about Trump, the list of corrupt left characters is growing and growing.

Meanwhile Trump is working and improving conditions in America to the degree that he can. The things he has done to improve veterans’ care is remarkable. Removing dangerous gang members from our streets will make a difference to families and children. We are pushing ISIS out of the areas they had controlled. The conditions for a better economy are already showing up in terms of jobs and higher pay.

Just in…now someone tried to place a bomb near a confederate statue. Nice.

Yep, your side sure does a good job of making a positive contribution. Probably makes you feel good.

        • Chris says:

Tina, Trump cannot do anything to solve corruption in DC when he himself is corrupt. He bankrupts everyone, including, apparently, the secret service:

          http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/347355-secret-service-we-have-funding-to-protect-trump-through-september

Wasn’t this the same guy who criticized Obama for his vacations? There’s a reason the saying “There’s a Trump tweet for everything” has become a thing. Every behavior he used to condemn, he now engages in, often to an even greater degree.

I won’t deny or defend the corruption on the left. Gruber is an ass.

          • Peggy says:

Chris, this is fake news, in part. The SS’s budget has run short for about 10 years according to the SS director Tex Alles.

Trump has a much bigger family and Obama preferred to vacation in Hawaii and Martha’s Vineyard. Read Cumming’s remarks below.

“WASHINGTON – The Secret Service said Monday that it has enough money to cover the cost of protecting President Donald Trump and his family through the end of September, but after that the agency will hit a federally mandated cap on salaries and overtime unless Congress intervenes.

If lawmakers don’t lift the cap, about a third of the agency’s agents would be working overtime without being paid, agency officials said.

Alles cited overall increases to his agency’s staff levels, which grew by 800 this year, as a factor driving the extra costs, calling the issue “not one that can be attributed to the current Administration’s protection requirements alone.”

He noted that the Secret Service in recent years has frequently received permission from Congress to exceed the overtime and salary cap. This occurred as recently as 2016 during President Barack Obama’s final year in office.

Alles called the agency’s current predicament, first reported by USA Today, “an ongoing issue for nearly a decade due to an overall increase in operational tempo.”

Without question, however, the agency’s workload for security personnel has grown under Trump. The Secret Service now protects 42 people around the clock, 11 more than it did under Obama. The Trump protection number includes 18 members of the president’s family.

The cap has been exceeded by at least some amount in recent years, but fewer agents were affected, usually 300, compared to 1,300 in 2016, when agents protected Obama, Hillary Clinton and Trump during the campaign, according to the office of Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, the top Democrat on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Republican and Democrats said Monday they are concerned about deepening demands on the agency and pledged a fix that could be permanent.

“Mr. Cummings and I have spoken twice this morning about our mutual desire to see the Secret Service funded and the agents treated fairly while acknowledging the difficult and important job they have,” Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., said in a statement.

Cummings said in a statement that he plans to introduce legislation that would allow the agency to exceed the mandated caps on a regular basis.

“The hardworking men and women of the Secret Service put their lives on the line every day, and it is a travesty that they are not being paid for the hours they work,”he said. “Congress cannot stand on the sidelines and complain – we need to act to ensure that Secret Service agents get every penny they deserve, period.”

          • Tina says:

Nice try Chris but apparently the SS has had this problem in the secret service for some time.

FOX, “Secret Service having trouble affording Trump family protection – but funding crunch not new”

…according to Secret Service Director Randolph “Tex” Alles, the problem of tight overtime funding is an ongoing issue.

“This issue is not one that can be attributed to the current Administration’s protection requirements, but rather has been an ongoing issue for nearly a decade due to an overall increase in operational tempo,” Alles said in a statement on Monday.

            Washington Examiner

Alles said the agency experienced a similar situation in 2016, but Congress allowed Secret Service employees to exceed the statutory caps. The agency has worked with the Department of Homeland Security, the Trump administration and Congress to find a legislative solution, Alles said in his statement. … Under the Trump administration, 42 people have Secret Service protection, including 18 family members. The Obama administration had 31 protectees.

So far the travel has been mostly work related. The new administration is meeting with a lot of heads of state and diplomats. I’ve seen no evidence that the travel has been about lavish vacations, but we’ll see. It’s still early.

          • Chris says:

You’re both right; I did not have confirmation that the budget troubles are related to vacations, and should have confirmed that before I said it.

It is a fact that Trump has already taken more vacations in his first year than any other president. This is immensely hypocritical and a violation of one of his campaign promises.

          • Libby says:

Chris … don’t let them split hairs like that. The Trump has spent nary a weekend in the White House since he was elected.

And his children? … neither Sasha nor Malia did any globe-trotting that I can recall.

The FACT is that their “government gutting” President is spending vast sums of our money … diddling around on the weekend.

          • Peggy says:

            Chris,
Obama’s vacation cost came in at $100 million. Let’s see what Trump’s are after his 8 years. If they are that high I will join you in complaining.

Although, I do not count his being forced out of the WH because of the AC and other construction currently going on there as vacation. He has definitely been working and still is.

            Libby,
            You recall wrong.

          • Libby says:

Peggy, you’re wrong … having failed to take the point … as is all too usual. Trump’s adult children roaming hither and yon, on our nickel, is a big factor in the running up of costs.

          • Chris says:

            Chris,
Obama’s vacation cost came in at $100 million. Let’s see what Trump’s are after his 8 years. If they are that high I will join you in complaining.

            Peggy,

I know you don’t mean this to be, but this is a double standard.

You did not wait and see what Obama’s final tab would be before criticizing his vacations. You criticized them at the time.

Trump has already spent more on vacations in his first six months than Obama spent in his first year. At this rate, he would easily outspend Obama if he made it through two terms. (Though it’s doubtful he will.)

The time to complain about this is now.
