Vision Centers are learning centers that may turn out to be life saving centers for many inner city youths. The idea came to life when a big Hillary supporter, entertainer Steve Harvey, set his election disappointment aside and agreed to meet with Donald Trump to see if he could arrange for Harvey to work with Ben Carson to make a difference in the inner cities. Hearing Harvey’s idea Trump got Carson on the phone and a meeting was arranged. Six months of planning later, the pair hope to open their first center in New York by year’s end. The idea pitched to Trump, as expressed by Harvey:
You’ve appointed Ben Carson as the head of Housing and Urban Development, and I’ve got keys to a lot of cities around this country from the years of performing that I’ve done. I can get an ear to them really quick and find out what their real needs are. … Y’all keep closing schools in the cities. Why don’t we take those schools that are closing, put some HUD money in them, and reopen them as vision centers and teach STEM and computers and coding? If you connect me with Ben Carson, I can help him with that.
What a great idea. Actually providing kids with tools that can help them become productive contributing citizens with a personal opportunity to join the middle (or upper) classes! Can they find the instructors for these centers that will stay? Can they ensure security? the programs remain sustainable or will they become sink holes? These are the questions I have given our governments poor record. But, tell me, which idea do you think contributes more to poor communities, this one, or the idea that whites are privileged and therefore should be subject to resentment and hate?
I wish Carson and Harvey only the best. If they stick with a model that mimics successful charter schools I predict a fair level of success.
Poor Harvey regrets meeting with Trump, because of the attacks he’s still receiving from his liberal “friends.” Funny thing is the meeting took place at the recommendation of the Obama administration.
Hopefully, the project will still go through to benefit the children.

“It was so vicious that it really threw me. I was being called names that I’ve never been called: Uncle Tom. A coon. A sellout. Because I went to see this man?! Which only happened because my business partner got a call from the Obama transition team, who said that the Trump transition team would like to set up a meeting,” he said.

Hello, I just finished listening to Brother Steve Harvey Speaks — 2017. First, I love the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. I dated a Q and I still get flustered when I think of him. Our families had many things in common, lived miles apart from each other, shared love for our siblings, attended the same schools, love of music, religious background and disciplined upbringing. Like Mr. Harvey, I, too, was born and raised in Welch, WV; I’m a coal miner’s daughter. I applaud Mr. Harvey in ALL of his accomplishments and especially doing and wanting to do more for families who are less fortunate. That’s why he receives blessings of God. I claim that I will one day meet him, because it would be a blessing to me.
