Steve Scalise Returns to Capitol Hill

Posted by Tina

Steve Scalise returned to the chamber of the House of Representatives today three months after being shot in a baseball park where he was practicing with fellow republicans in anticipation of the annual congressional baseball game held in June.

House members met Scalise with loud applause and encouragement as he expressed deep gratitude for the support he’s had throughout his ordeal. Scalise had internal injuries to organs as well as a shattered femur and injury to his hip and pelvis that required multiple surgeries and extensive rehab to learn how to walk again. It’s wonderful that he was able to recover and it’s good to see him back at work.

Nancy Pelosi apparently couldn’t wait even a day before using the Scalise shooting to criticize GOP legislation that would treat silencers as common firearms and require background checks in order to buy one from a licensed gun dealer and “furthers protections for interstate firearm transport, furthers protections on classification measures for certain firearms and ammunition, and increases access to federal public lands for hunting and fishing, among other measures.” She lives up to the left’s repugnant practice…“never let a serious crisis go to waste.”

The legislation will likely pass and likely with the yes vote of Steve Scalise…a very good thing!

One Response to Steve Scalise Returns to Capitol Hill

Wonderful. I would have applauded him too, despite our disagreements.

I don’t remember hearing anything about his shooter using a silencer. Why would Pelosi think the shooting of Scalise was relevant to this issue? As someone who has become a bit more pro-gun over the past couple of years, I do hate when liberals conflate all gun issues in order to argue for rules that have nothing to do with actually preventing the incidents they’re referring to. I don’t know if I approve of silencers being treated as common firearms, but if that had nothing to do with the Scalise shooting then she shouldn’t have connected the two.
