Travelling to the Panama Canal, Mexico, Turks and Caicos?

by Jack

A regular industry has sprung up along the Mexican Riviera on the way to Costa Rica. It’s called “robando turistas” or robbing tourists. You are lucky if you only get mugged, because many Gringo’s are beaten, stabbed, shot or worse, kidnapped and murdered.

Photo on left shows Joe Lanco of NY right after a mugging.

Shown on right is an Alabama man just before he was shot in botched robbery in Turks and Caicos.   He’s recovering in a Florida hospital.

Here’s a little tip: American tourists are not well liked by poor people in 3rd world countries, like Mexico or Panama. You will stand a better than 50-50 chance of learning this the hard way, if you put yourself out there. So just don’t, ok? Everything you need is on your cruise ship, including security. Off that ship you look like a big fat bag of money to poor and desperate people who already hate you.

Panama will never make into the list of the World’s Top 10 Safe Places to Visit – perhaps not even the top 250. Muggings, express kidnappings and shootings are common in Panama. Hold that thought while booking your next cruise.

    Yup!
Had some uneasy experiences when traveling in Mexico when I was travel agent, and finally quit recommending that country to my clients.
Even these days, here are so many other places to travel that tourists will be safer but no matter where you go, keep that “situational awareness” active for your own safety!

And as far as those college morons visiting China who were busted for shoplifting? They found out the hard way that other countries have different laws!

    Travel?

With the way the politicians have ruined the economy who can afford such a luxury?

And with the TSA molestations who would want to travel?

And then you have to contend with criminals at your destination?

Only a masochist would put up with all of that.

The only travel I do are day trips out in the country or to parks.

But with the way the Demorats have jacked up the gas tax (CA now has the most expensive gas in the country, even higher than Hawaii which imports their gas thousands of miles) and with the cost of owning a car constantly increasing I may even cut back on these trips.

Forgot to mention the long lines at the airports, the full planes and their narrow seats.

Why is it that every year the seats keep shrinking while Americans’ you know what’s keep getting bigger?

Do yourselves a big favor and stay home.

I suspect that most Americans who travel really can’t afford it.

They should be using that money to pay down debt or if they are clear of debt save that money for their retirement as most Americans do not have nearly enough saved (unless they’re gooberment employees with fat pensions, of course).

But instead they will do what the government does…go deeper in debt!

I knew a woman who was deep in debt and somehow managed to get a much higher paying job. Instead of paying down her debt with the higher salary she went on a cruise and that was before she even got her first pay check at the new job! Just whipped out the old credit card. She eventually lost the job and declared bankruptcy.

Those college students were fortunate that their president happened to be traveling in the area at the time or they would still be sitting in jail and facing up to ten years for their stupidity which is a direct result of liberal social and political mores.

Situational awareness is important, even in our own backyard.

    • Joe says:

      That’s an outrage!

Those spoiled brats should have stayed in China and faced justice!

God knows they will never face it here.

If Trump got them out he definitely did the wrong thing.

He should have left them there and shipped Pelosi and that other nutty Dem who wears the red cowboy hat off to China to join them!

      • Joe says:

Should have shipped off Moonbeam, too, for raising our taxes!

        • Joe says:

I believe Moonbeam is in China for a global warming…er…climate change conference.

You can bet the Chinese would never arrest Moonbeam if he was caught stealing in a Chinese store.

They would make sure he got back safely to California so he and his Demorat buddies could do more damage to the economy.

    • Joe says:

Mark Dreyer of ChinaSportsInsider.com reported that all charges were dropped against the trio and that they were not officially deported from the country.

Bet with such harsh punishment they never steal again…just disgusting…getting off scot free like that but hey, they’re entitled.

    And on the Bammycare front…

As many as 10 million Americans who have purchased exchange-based insurance without a subsidy in the past now may not be able to afford a policy at all.

Earning too much to qualify for a subsidy results in a huge leap in premiums. If an individual’s annual income jumps $300 above the threshold of 400 percent of the federal poverty level, they may have to pay an additional $3,263 per year in health insurance premiums, according to a new study by eHealth.com.

The same survey shows that the lowest priced health insurance plan for the average person who is not receiving a subsidy will cost $5,591 per year if they earn less than $69,357 in household income in 2018.

Imagine having to spend nearly $5,600 for health insurance on an income of less than $70,000. Health insurance mandated by the Affordable Care Act has become unaffordable to middle-class Americans!

And when you’re spending many thousands for health insurance don’t forget to save up so you can pay the huge deductibles!

Joe, I agree with your travel comments too. Yep better off to learn to enjoy home, we are somewhat safer here than Mexico. But not for long. A number of Chicoans have learned the hard way that you can get mugged in parking lots or parks by the homeless and sometimes stabbed.
