*HATE*

Posted by Jack, with thanks to Peggy for the link…

This is an excerpt from a fantastic article by Dr. Danusha V. Goska, called the, “Top Ten Reasons I’m No Longer a Leftist”

1) Hate.

If hate were the only reason, I’d stop being a leftist for this reason alone.

Almost twenty years ago, when I could not conceive of ever being anything but a leftist, I joined a left-wing online discussion forum.

Before that I’d had twenty years of face-to-face participation in leftist politics: marching, organizing, socializing.

In this online forum, suddenly my only contact with others was the words those others typed onto a screen. That limited and focused means of contact revealed something.

If you took all the words typed into the forum every day and arranged them according to what part of speech they were, you’d quickly notice that nouns expressing the emotions of anger, aggression, and disgust, and verbs speaking of destruction, punishing, and wreaking vengeance, outnumbered any other class of words.

One topic thread was entitled “What do you view as disgusting about modern America?” The thread was begun in 2002. Almost eight thousand posts later, the thread was still going strong in June, 2014.

Those posting messages in this left-wing forum publicly announced that they did what they did every day, from voting to attending a rally to planning a life, because they wanted to destroy something, and because they hated someone, rather than because they wanted to build something, or because they loved someone. You went to an anti-war rally because you hated Bush, not because you loved peace. Thus, when Obama bombed, you didn’t hold any anti-war rally, because you didn’t hate Obama.

I experienced powerful cognitive dissonance when I recognized the hate. The rightest of my right-wing acquaintances — I had no right-wing friends — expressed nothing like this. My right-wing acquaintances talked about loving: God, their family, their community. I’m not saying that the right-wingers I knew were better people; I don’t know that they were. I’m speaking here, merely, about language.

In 1995 I developed a crippling illness. I couldn’t work, lost my life savings, and traveled through three states, from surgery to surgery.

A left-wing friend, Pete, sent me emails raging against Republicans like George Bush, whom he referred to as “Bushitler.” The Republicans were to blame because they opposed socialized medicine. In fact it’s not at all certain that socialized medicine would have helped; the condition I had is not common and there was no guaranteed treatment.

Google her name and then check out “Rate My Professor”. Interesting.

But Peggy still has to explain to us why the views of a a lefty convert are of any more (or less) significance than the views of a righty convert?

You agree with them? Is that it?

    That’s not much.

    • Peggy says:

What’s sad Libs is you just proved her right and you don’t realize it.

      Enjoy your hate and self-loathing.

    • Tina says:

Libby the fact that she became a “righty convert” isn’t as interesting as her reasons for doing so.

Show me a lefty convert (who expresses his reasons) then we can compare.

      • Libby says:

Tina … you got it backwards. You and Peggy both always get it backwards.

And, to take disagreement for “hate” is paranoid.

I dunno, someday I may have the leisure and inclination to lay out in detail connections you don’t seem to be able to make yourselves … but today ain’t the day.

        • Tina says:

How did I (we) get it backwards?

It’s difficult to communicate with you when all you do is issue an unsubstantiated accusation (have it backwards) and then fall back on name calling (paranoid) and excuses (someday). It’s difficult because you rely on insults to avoid making your own case (lay out in detail) for those (Peggy and me) who you consider to be mentally beneath you (unable to make the connection).

        • Peggy says:

“Always” Libby? Really? Tina and I “always” get everything wrong.

When you can find the time please tell us how you became sooooo perfect that your are always right and we are always wrong.

Last I heard there have been only two people who walked on water and you weren’t one of them.

  2. Tina says:

Peggy this article is powerful in that it exposes the left’s ungrounded, emotionally driven agenda and lock step attitude. Much can be learned from an insider that wakes up!

    • Peggy says:

Yes, she nailed the fact that democrats deal with everything from an emotional level and not based on facts. Even when presented with facts they’ll turn the discussion into an attacks with name calling and put-downs.

They feel entitled to everything they want and we’re big bad meanies if we don’t give it to them. Poor babies…. grow up and earn it.

Hey, heard some good news today. The Butte county unemployment dropped to 4.7%, down from 5.3%. Nice hearing people are finding jobs again. Thanks president Trump!

  3. RHT447 says:

    Different kinda hate.

“In Coachella, a man was fined $900 for expanding his living room without getting a permit. He paid his fine. Then more than a year later he got a bill in the mail from Silver & Wright for $26,000. They told him that he had to pay the cost of prosecuting him, and if he didn’t, they could put a lien on his house and the city could sell it against his will. When he appealed the bill they charged him even more for the cost of defending against the appeal. The bill went from $26,000 to $31,000.”

Rail, tar, and feathers. Some assembly required.

    • Libby says:

Nobody gets “prosecuted” by a private law firm … defended, maybe.

But why defended, if he just paid the fine?

“Reason” misleads you. Or you fail to comprehend. Either bodes ill for the republic.

      • Tina says:

        Hmmmmmm…

Peters and Peters: Private Prosecutions & Assisting Victims

“Private Prosecutions in the Public Interest?: Process, Possibilities, and Problems”:

Section 504 of the Criminal Code, R.S.C., 1985, c. C-46. Chances are you’ve never heard of it. The section is rarely invoked; a number of obstacles stand in the way of its successful application. But it might just become an important provision for any public interest group, civil litigator, or corporate counsel to be aware.

Section 504 allows any person to initiate a private prosecution if he or she believes, on reasonable grounds, that a person has committed an indictable offence.1 The definition of prosecutor in ss. 2 and 785 of the Criminal Code makes it clear that someone other than the Attorney General may institute proceedings to which the Criminal Code applies. In 2002, s. 507.1 was added to the Criminal Code, setting out the procedure for referral of an information laid in a private prosecution – making it abundantly clear persons not involved in law enforcement may commence criminal proceedings.

    Mr. Captain Jack,

Speaking of hate check this out. Old Marshawn decided he would sit for the American national anthem BUT stand for the Mexican national anthem.

How you like them apples? I hope Trump trumps up a tweet storm! Or Tweets up a Trump storm! 🙂
