Historic Agreement in Singapore

Posted by Tina

I’ll say what the main stream left crazed media won’t say…Donald Trump and his magnifiscent team have made history and opened doors to North Korea that previously have been locked shut. The agreement, signed by President Donald Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un, represents a first positive step toward a better world. The agreement states:

Convinced that the establishment of new U.S.-DPRK relations will contribute to the peace and prosperity of the Korean Peninsula and of the world, and recognizing that mutual confidence building can promote the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un state the following:

1. The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new U.S.-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.

2. The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.

3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

4. The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

Having acknowledged that the U.S.-DPRK summit—the first in history—was an epochal event of great significance in overcoming decades of tensions and hostilities between the two countries and for the opening up of a new future, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un commit to implement the stipulations in this joint statement fully and expeditiously. The United States and the DPRK commit to hold follow-on negotiations, led by the U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, and a relevant high-level DPRK official, at the earliest possible date, to implement the outcomes of the U.S.-DPRK summit.

President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea have committed to cooperate for the development of new U.S.-DPRK relations and for the promotion of peace, prosperity, and security of the Korean Peninsula and of the world.

Trump showed Kim a video during their talks which showed the dictator what could be possible for his country if he agreed to denuclearize:

“Seven billion people inhabit Planet Earth. Of those alive today, only a small number will leave a lasting impact. And only the very few will make decisions or take actions that renew their homeland and change the course of history,” the video’s narrator says.

“History is always evolving, and there comes a time when only a few are called upon to make a difference. But the question is: What difference will the few make? The past doesn’t have to be the future.”

The narrator continues: “A new world can begin today, one of friendship, respect and goodwill. Be part of that world, where the doors of opportunity are ready to be opened.”

Leaving North Korea’s future in Kim’s hands, the narrator asks, “Will this leader choose to advance his country and be part of a new world? Be the hero of his people? Will he shake the hand of peace and enjoy prosperity like he has never seen? A great life, or isolation? Which path will be chosen?”

Trump said he believed Chairman Kim liked what he saw in the video.

The carrot is an opportunity for Kim to leave the dark past behind and welcome in a bright, more satisfying future for himself and his people.

Kim Jong Un began to test President Trump as soon as he took office and a series of provocative acts were met with layers of sanctions. Trump also enlisted the aid of China. As the confrontation devolved into public mud slinging, Trump planned for every possible outcome. A man of his word, Trumps reputation preceded him. The strategy worked. Kim stepped back. And thus began substantive talks that would lead to the historic moment on June 12, 2018 when the two leaders came together to begin walking down this new path of engagement.

No one can say for sure what will happen next. The left is more interested in petty politics than the possibility of improved conditions. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Trump acted in “haste” and got only “vague promises.” Both are vapid mischaracterizations of the efforts that have been, and will be, made in future. Even prior to the summit left pundits and politicians were saying that Trump was too inexperienced and unprepared to negotiate….blah, blah, blah…

News flash! Trump has been observing and considering ideas since at least 1999. See video of Trump talking about the North Korea problem with Wolf Blitzer at Gateway Pundit.

The thing that encourages me is that Trump and his team are committed to the long game. This was not a negotiated photo op that once done the parties simply move on. This was not a bribery scheme to construct a legacy with little thought to unintended consequences. This is thoughtful, honest, diplomacy that came from outside the box.

We’ve never been here before. Forget the negative left….let’s give it a chance to work.

    What about the negative right?

If it were the O-man standing there, you’d be screeching impending doom. If it were the O-man doing this inane posturing, you would be saying EXACTLY:

“This is a negotiated photo op that once done the parties simply move on. This is nothing but a bribery scheme to construct a legacy with little thought to unintended consequences.”

… which make your support of this farce vastly entertaining.

Incidentally … did you change out the Trump photo on the earlier post? I could be wrong, I bounce around a lot, but I thought you had the “Summit” photo up. You know, the viral one … that Colbert says looks like Trump just put a Lego in his mouth, sitting there with his fat little arms crossed, and Angela is trying to get him to spit it out?

Good for you, happiness is a wonderful thing.

But you are decidedly full of the usual excrement. Obama and Kerry were criticized, it’s true, but on the insanity of the substance of the deal they made…not to mention they are the #1 sponsors of terrorism.

Later a number of publications agreed…some that lean left:

Observer, “Obama’s Iran Deal Didn’t Halt Aggression—It Ignited an Arms Race – Regime uses sanctions relief to beef up weaponry, leading their neighbors to do the same”

Bloomberg, “Obama’s Alternative Facts on the Iran Nuclear Deal – We’re getting a glimpse of what the U.S. gave away in order to win Tehran’s pledge of cooperation.

USA Today, “Obama administration sold a bad Iran nuclear deal to the American public”

Boston Herald, “Editorial: Bad Iran deal revealed”

The Obama administration secretly attempted to give Iran access to the U.S. financial system in 2016 and misled or “lied” — as today’s press is happy to say — to the U.S. Congress.

There were Democrats that were against it too:

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY): …o me, the very real risk that Iran will not moderate and will, instead, use the agreement to pursue its nefarious goals is too great.

Therefore, I will vote to disapprove the agreement, not because I believe war is a viable or desirable option, nor to challenge the path of diplomacy. It is because I believe Iran will not change, and under this agreement it will be able to achieve its dual goals of eliminating sanctions while ultimately retaining its nuclear and non-nuclear power. Better to keep U.S. sanctions in place, strengthen them, enforce secondary sanctions on other nations, and pursue the hard-trodden path of diplomacy once more, difficult as it may be.

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) … “The deal ultimately legitimizes Iran as a threshold nuclear state,” Menendez, who stepped down as the top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee earlier this year…said on MSNBC’s “The Rundown.” “The deal doesn’t end Iran’s nuclear program, it preserves it.”

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) …Sen. Joe Manchin will vote to oppose the nuclear agreement with Iran, joining every other member of West Virginia’s congressional delegation in opposition.

Manchin announced his decision one week after Democrats secured the votes necessary to make sure the deal goes into effect

Now-former Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY), Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA), and Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY) all opposed the deal as well. Yet, not enough were able to cross the aisle with Republicans to override a veto threat by Obama over the resolution to reject the agreement.

I’ll address your question in another comment after I take a look.

    • Tina says:

I checked the edit page and could find no evidence of the photo in question being used and exchanged out.

I could swear that I posted in comments a number of photo shopped versions of the summit photo you recall. Note the first one is a snap taken at the same time, perhaps seconds earlier or later, with Merkel and others smiling and Trump leaning forward. Merkel released the one you saw (for political reasons, obviously)…she didn’t want people to see her enjoying a conversation with Trump.

The one with Abe, Trump and Bolton in the sunglasses and red MAGA hats may be my favorite…also the one with Trump cradling a Putin doll.

I’m sure you’ll enjoy Trump sitting in a highchair with a plate of spaghetti turned over on his head.

Confused again Libs? The photo of Trump with his arms crossed, with Angela leaning across the table was in Canada at the G-7 meeting, not in Singapore.

Guess your news source didn’t provide the other picture of them all smiling taken at the same time. Seconds in camera speed does matter along with creating a negative narrative.

      Here’s the picture.

What if it were the “O” man getting this done instead of Trump? It doesn’t matter to most of us, maybe you, maybe to a whole lot of other libs, but to most of us we don’t care.

Libby, I know you can’t bring yourself to believe this, but when it comes to deal like we just saw in Singapore, most of us want to evaluate what has just happened and then we’ll evaluate the results later on. Partisan politics does not, and should not, enter into it! Look, what happens next affects us all regardless of our politics.

Either this will be a fantastic turning point in our relations with the PRNK or it won’t. Either a regional nuclear disarmament will go forward or it won’t. That’s my focus. I believe we’re off to a good start, but only time will tell. I’m hoping for a positive results, but are you?

  2. Post Scripts says:

Another big score in Singapore – go Trump! I believe Trump is the hardest working president I’ve ever seen! His pace is amazing and the things that he has accomplished will be a lasting (and very positive) legacy that will easily overshadow the last 3 presidents.

I know this peace agreement is not what dems were hoping for, they’re still clinging to the fading hope that somehow they can still link Trump to an election conspiracy with Putin or something, just anything at this point… it’s got to be heartbreaking for them to see him so successful! lol

  3. Peggy says:

I stayed up into the early morning to watch the live coverage of the Trump/Kim summit. What I saw was a father figure dealing with a petulant young man who needed guidance.

Kim has the power to order the death of a relative, thousands of people and start a ward with if he wasn’t pleased or denied what he wanted.

Trump being educated in the military knows the art of strategic planning and having raised all of his children to be successful and responsible adults understands the balance of love, caring and discipline needed to correct an unruly child’s behavior.

What I heard was Trump praising Kim for what he did right and placing a guiding hand often on his back when needed to point him in the right direction. If a stern word was needed it was given immediately. No waiting for the equivalent of, “What until your father gets home,” by kicking the problem down the road to the next president.

This article at American Thinker reflects my views of why Trump will succeed with Kim, while so many others in the past have failed.

The Key to Trump’s Success in North Korea:
“Our president is devoted to one thing: winning for America. He does listen to our military and work with its members to achieve the possible. He does understand how power works. Korea could thumb its nose at us because it was protected by China. So, first, Trump removed that protection by going after China. The astute Sundance at Conservative Treehouse has been pointing out for months that the trade pressure on China was the prerequisite to movement on Korea. Our expert diplomats and analysts still don’t talk about this big picture. Trump is obviously a strategic thinker, as you have to be in the business world, as in the military.

It’s not all that complicated. Kim came to the table because Trump forced him to. North Korea was made to understand quite thoroughly and clearly that its grandstanding with nukes was over. Being clear was the first step to success. Trump has no toleration for a nuclear Korea, period. When communicated forcefully, through actions, not words, that was the game-changer.

Trump reversed Kim’s motivation 100%. Kim thought the nukes were his one ticket to security. Trump showed him that the nukes are his ticket to oblivion. That is why there is reason for optimism that this is not going to be the useless nuclear diplomacy we have had since Clinton.

While critics howled, Trump became more and more menacing. That ranged from offensive name-calling to military exercises in the Pacific. This was not a Twitter war; it was real war. It is almost exactly a year since Trump sent the third carrier battle group into the western Pacific. It is said that when the U.S. sends one or two carriers, it is a show of strength. Sending out a third carrier means war. Kim had never received that message before.

Past presidents put economic sanctions on North Korea – kinda, sorta. Only so far as China allowed, which was just far enough to keep Korea misbehaving. Trump doesn’t do kinda, sorta. For the first time, we enforced sanctions. All it took was the balls to stand up to China. That was another Trump first.”

      Opps.

This, “Kim has the power to order the death of a relative, thousands of people and start a ward with if he wasn’t pleased or denied what he wanted.”

Should say, “Kim has the power to order the death of a relative, thousands of people and start a war with the snap of his finger if he wasn’t pleased or denied what he wanted.”

      • Libby says:

Peggy, your bubble must be burst … the blinders must come off.

As Little Fatty’s nuclear testing facility has imploded, collapsed, and is spewing radioactivity all over the place, what has the man got to lose by making nice for a few months?

This is still the fellow who had his uncle executed with an artillery shell.

I know how much you would like to credit Trump with something substantively positive … but there simply is no there … there.

        • Tina says:

But there was “something substantively positive” when Obama gave away the bank, surrendered terrorists, opened the trade barricades, delivered piles of cash, and pretend inspections for business as usual in Iran, right?

I guess you could say it was substantively positive for Iran and be accurate.

Who would take your opinion seriously on Trump…your judgment sucks!

        • Peggy says:

Oh but Libs there is a there there. You just won’t take your blindfold off and see it.

North Korea is hurting because they can’t get any more of the money from Iran given them by the man you think walks on water. Iran can’t buy their nuke stuff any more. So sad I know for you. Instead of two countries threatening to blow us all off of the face of the planet we now have none. You’d rather we had a WWIII to prove Trump wrong and have millions die than admit he just might have done something right. Guess we’ll all find out in a year old two if we’re still alive.

You’re one sick but predictable Progressive.

  4. Harold says:

    Poor, Poor Liberal Trump haters.

They have been exposed to voters can’t get the job done, and their only avenue is they criticize every and all Trump accomplishments.

Mostly their scared this could (and should) lead voters to reanalyze their support in the upcoming election process, and those feckless Liberals in office could lose their elitist status they so cherish and covet.

Drip , drip little snowflakes, with all your meaningless comments about NOKO summit, it appears your having another (and deserved) meltdown, would you like another crayon?

However just remember, you still have the GLORY of Big Zero” Obamas” Iranian nuclear deal, now there’s a GLOW you can comfort yourselves with, or more fittingly, roll in a pigsty suitable to the deal Obama dumped on America.
