    This is so true and so makes my heart break. In “Heart of Darkness” by Joseph Conrad Kurtz ends with “The horror, the horror.” Conrad’s Kurtz knew such horror.

    We are back on the ship in the Thames —

    “The offing was barred by a black bank of clouds, and the tranquil waterway leading to
    the uttermost ends of the earth flowed sombre under an overcast sky–seemed to lead into the heart of an immense darkness.”
