UPDATE – The fire was considered 40 percent contained as of Thursday morning.

4:15 p.m. Roughly 52,000 people have been evacuated, with 1,385 in shelters, officials said. Evacuations remain in place for residents in Paradise, Magalia, Concow, Butte Creek Canyon and Butte Valley. (See the full list of evacuation orders and warnings below. Air quality is dangerous.  Wear a good mask when outside. Toxins, heavy metals, etc., in burnt particles enter the lungs and go directly into your bloodstream, WEAR the mask!

2:15 p.m.

A man was shot and killed after a high-speed chase with a police officer in one of the evacuation zones of the deadly Northern California wildfire.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Thursday that the shooting happened at about 11 a.m.

Television stations KHSL/KNVN in the city of Chico reported that the shooting happened in an area near the town of Concow, which is in the zone where more than 50,000 people evacuated.
