Trump’s Speech – ABC Spreading Fake News

by Jack

President Trump address to the public  was succinct, accurate and sensible.  It only took him 8 minutes, but he covered a lot of ground.   I found nothing in his speech that was  objectionable.

Some key points by Trump, “ ”America proudly welcomes millions of lawful immigrants who enrich our society and contribute to our nation, but all Americans are hurt by uncontrolled illegal migration. It strains public resources and drives down jobs and wages.”

“”In the last two years, ICE officers made 266,000 arrests of aliens with criminal records.”

In total, his proposal sounded realistic and sincere.  Tomorrow when Trump meets with the democrats I hope they behave  as well as he did tonight.   Because I am 100% convinced we need a secure southern border.  CA is a prime example of what can go wrong without a secure border.

Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina said, he had never seen Mr. Trump behave in such a presidential manner. And he issued a dire warning to Mr. Trump’s base:  “If we undercut the president, that’s the end of his presidency and the end of our party.”  I agree.

“As the president clearly laid out tonight, we have a growing humanitarian and security crisis on our southern border,” Representative Kay Granger of Texas, the ranking member on the House Appropriations Committee, said in a statement.

As soon Trump finished, ABC George Stephanopoulos spoke to a guest commentator for her objective opinions about Trumps speech.  She opened by accusing Trump of being completely wrong about the percentage of heroin coming across the southern border.  Trump said about 90% of heroin enters the US market through Mexico’s border.  She said in fact, most of the heroin comes in through legal ports of entry.

I knew this couldn’t be right!  I make it my business to know about such things, since I once served as a narcotics enforcement officer, trained by US Drug Enforcement Agency.     This fool was and I think ABC bears some responsibility here too.  They knew what this so-called expert was going to say and they didn’t check her answers.  She lied and they let it go without challenge – that’s terrible.

I turned off ABC in protest.

“… By 2014, the proportion of Mexican heroin had grown to 79 percent (South American heroin made up about 17 percent), DEA spokesman Russell Baer told PolitiFact in September. (96% total crossing the border)

This market share is also reflected in the amount of heroin seized at the border and the amount grown in Mexico.

From 2013 to 2015, the amount of poppy fields cultivated in Mexico increased by 169 percent from 11,000 hectares to 28,000 hectares, according to Baer. ‘  END

ABC news lied tonight, they truly are fake news.

Reading comments on Twitter again during TheDonald’s speech and the expected condemnation by two Demwit stooges was great!
UpChuckie and Peloosi did NOT do well. Even Jeff Greenfield referred to them as “being embalmed.” And the amount of makeup that was used to cover wrinkles on both was staggering. One tweet asked where Cousin Itt was and another compared them to the Munsters. Another tweet had them as the new American Gothic painting sans pitchfork.
TheDonald laid out facts and the Demwits repeated their talking points. Last night’s winner was TheDonald.

    • Post Scripts says:

Up till last night Donald Trump was largely blamed for the shutdown, but if Schumer and Pelosi fail to compromise this whole shutdown will fall on the democrats. Trump offered compromise and voters like that. However, voters do not appreciate Pelosi and Schumer throwing it back in his face and insulting him. That will not play well with the American people. Pelosi and Schumer better be real careful at this point because they could cause a lot of damage to their ranks.

      • Libby says:

“Trump offered compromise and voters like that.”

From $5B to $5.7B is a compromise? Why do you insist on lying about this? Do you think you are persuading anybody? You’re not. We’ve all heard about the table slamming. We’ve all heard about the Mulvaney cussing out.

The Donald has painted himself into a corner, with his fat little arms crossed and his pissy face on.

The cynicism of the GOP in all this is staggering, though. The latest I hear is that they may let him pronounce his emergency, which will go straight to court (and stay there for years), the government will re-open, and another non-crisis of The Donald’s making … evaporates.

You’re right about the Chuck & Nancy show though. See, that’s the trouble with you and yours. Look at yourself, Jack, how can you make any effort to justify that boobish looking person claiming to be a President?

We can see that Chuck & Nancy are the embalmed establishment, to the nth degree, and say so.

  2. Peggy says:

No more kicking the can down the road on securing our southern border. Our country, our citizens and those who live here legally deserve more than what we’re providing to the rest of the world.

Democrats Can Fund the World, but Not the Wall:
    By Brian C. Joondeph

“There is nothing like a government shutdown to illustrate clearly the priorities of the two opposing sides to the standoff. On one side is President Trump, keeping a campaign promise to build a wall, to keep crime, sex-trafficking, drugs, and terrorism, not to mention the unfunded burden of illegal aliens, out of America.

On the other side are the Democrats, hell-bent on keeping 25 percent of the government closed for business rather than funding border security, a concept they wholeheartedly supported a decade ago.

Who’s winning and who’s losing the battle? If you watch cable news, it’s clear that the president is on the ropes, having backed himself into a corner. Reality sings a different tune. How did we get here?

Take this, for instance: “”In the last two years, ICE officers made 266,000 arrests of aliens with criminal records.”

As the NYT and your own ICE link will tell you … if you can bear to look … this statement needs some context. The vast majority of these crimes are traffic-type misdemeanors … which I am very sad to report, would make several million American citizens … criminals … and makes the vast majority of these criminal ICE detainees no bloody threat at all, whatsoever.

“I turned off ABC in protest.”

It may grieve you to hear your president exposed for a liar. Joining him is not going to make you feel any better. I mean, people will just expose you for one too.

    Liar.

    • Post Scripts says:

Libby I did not say one untruth and your “context” comment is subjective. My singular focus was on ABC stating a lie. That female commentator began with a lie, saying most heroin is coming through legal ports of entry, not the southern border. That is factually incorrect and nobody held her accountable. This so-called expert should know better. Anything after that is purely my opinion.

      • Libby says:

My singular focus was on ABC stating a lie. That female commentator began with a lie, saying most heroin is coming through legal ports of entry, not the southern border.

But Jack, she was telling the truth. And your Donald lies like a dog. (And what’s with the “female” commentator? You just cannot help yourself, can you?)

        https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/4/19/15326286/trump-wall-opioid-epidemic

You can join your Queen of Denial, and crow same til hell freezes over. Don’t change nothing. What’s more, the Donald’s humanitarian crisis is total bull.

Why do you think he don’t want to make no trip to the border to bolster his case? Because … on the border … our immigration bureaucracy is humming along, firing on all cylinders, working fine.

The Dems are offering a respectable compromise, some stimulus, but The Donald wants to play stupid ego games. The man is a fool.

        • Libby says:

          I just spotted something …

“through legal ports of entry, not the southern border?”

If this is what’s hanging you up, we must explain that there are legal ports of entry ON the southern border (in addition to the seaports and airports through which drugs also enter the country) … which is another reason why your wall is pointless. Drugs sailing through legal points of entry, hidden where ever, are not going to be stopped by your wall.

You know, you, and The Donald can be quite dim.

      • Harold says:

You can not discuss the reverence of statements with someone so intent on hate filled spew that they need the use of a set of ear buds that could work while they have their head in a dark palace.

Spin and micro management along with the NYT as a source of factual information will get you a liberal slant to anything Trump says.

If we are to just dwell on traffic stops, they are important, a good percentage of illegals have no insurance, let alone a valid ID (unless issued by a sanctuary State) and anyone legal or not needs to have this for the privilege of operating a vehicle, if only for the protection of those who go about it legally.

If there is any “grief” to be experienced, it is by mindsets that are similar to Libby’s, while she is amusing most of the time, there are those posts of purely anal retentive thought.

I also think Libby’s one line “Liar” sums up her spew perfectly.

Libby only parrots the words and actions of Pelosi and Schumer in their actions, which have no relevance toward building a better America, and Libby’s use of the word has no application or reflection on the importance of what Trump says or is trying to accomplish for a better America,

        • Libby says:

“You can not discuss the reverence of statements with someone so intent on hate filled spew that they need the use of a set of ear buds that could work while they have their head in a dark palace.”

Hmmmmm. Drug interaction? Something very odd is happening here.

      • Harold says:

Oh,I might add, asking 5 billion to construct/improve this wall, is a small small percentage of current federal expenses, and it will save American tax payers more than that in any current year without this barrier for the prevention of illegal entry into America.

One year in the reduction of current expense of federal services required to deal with Illegals, is far greater than the cost of prevention. Not to mention other benefits of public safety.

        • Libby says:

If the wall would halt illegal immigration … WHICH IT WILL NOT … BECAUSE OF NUMEROUS OTHER POINTS AND MEANS OF ENTRY TO THE COUNTRY … YOU DIM WIT !!!

I mean … sorry to yell … but you are beyond exasperating. Jack’s wall post says the very same thing!

This subsequent campaign to salvage The Donald’s reputation … ain’t gonna work. The Donald will cave or he won’t, but we ain’t pissin’ away no 5 Bil on no stinkin’ pointless wall.

I am having lots of fun speculating on how long he holds out. He is very willful, and so appallingly ignorant he does not understand what 3 months, 6 months, 8 months, of non-government activity will do to his precious GDP.

Jack, what if the checks stop coming? What are you gonna do?

          • Post Scripts says:

Libby, we’ve been printing worthless money for decades, why should I get concerned now if the check is late?

          • Harold says:

Let’s take an open minded look at this issue. The WALL IS NEEDED , if only to make Mexico realize they have to do something at their Central America border to prevent people backing up in their country by the USA border and having to have Mexico expense the care of same.

Most anyone will admit the wall isn’t going to prevent total illegal entry into the USA, it doesn’t need a repetitive asinine spokesperson for the hateful left like you Libby, to regurgitate this singularly stupid argument, All the obstinate and uncooperative Left does is say “it won’t stop (total) illegal entry from Mexico”, however It damn will slow it down to a more manageable entity, even a person with your limited comprehension should see that!
Additionally the cost saving to Tax payers alone should be significant to encourage passage from both sides to fund and build it, even during the fecklessness of Obama’s time in office (who seldom if ever did what he promised) and his dimwitted Congressional houses could see that, They were in favor then, but blind hate and Democratic leaders threats to both house and senate elected have them marching along lines drawn by Pelosi and Schumer.
The inane jealously that fuels you, and doesn’t allow you to admit it will help, just shows your thick headed position toward a President who really tries to improve American for Americans, which is so different from just a lot of Lip and lack of follow though like your mentor Obama.
So like so many of your myopic and resentful post, we just continue to play politics at the expense and safety of this country.
You may view my opinion as dim witted, however your simpleminded slur is just vacuous. Grow up and present a debated position without your need to continuously berate people, you will get a better audience.

          • Chris says:

Spoken like a “King” of denial. Do you, or do you not take this “worthless” money to the store and buy groceries with it? So what if there isn’t any money?

Chris Writes; “Do you seriously not see the difference?”

No Chris I don’t see a difference, other than how you viewed Peggy’s words, and how I viewed Ballasy article.

There was no mention in Ballasy article of either employed or unemployed (due to lost of job) in that audience. Peggy may have viewed it one way and you another. Both of you have grounds for your comments.

However, your not being honest in your reply to my comment, and because of that, you serious can’t help me, or anyone else with your take of the article.

        • Peggy says:

Democrats are just doing their usual repeating lies often enough until people actually believe them as truth. “Walls don’t work,” is BS and everyone with an IQ over 40 knows it’s just another lie.

Also, where was the medias’ and Dems’ outrage and concern for all those who lost their full-time jobs because of ObamaCare? People either didn’t get a check at all or had their hours reduced from 40 to 30 hours a week. It was Republicans who were outraged, while Pelosi told us how wonderful it would be for those newly unemployed individuals, because they could now take art classes and do crafts while they were home.

Note that it’s gov’t workers Pelosi and Shumer are fighting for. Not any more the private sector individuals for the past 10 years and beyond who were their base. As Rush pointed out this morning on his radio show, the democrat party has lost the blue collar and minority citizen voters. They now need the very poor from across our southern border and the very rich to fund their fight for power, control and their very existence.

          • Peggy says:

This is a lie. Pelosi was talking about people who willingly quit their jobs because they didn’t need to keep them for the insurance, not people who “lost” their jobs.

“Pelosi to Aspiring Musicians: Quit Your Job, Taxpayers Will Cover Your Health Care

            By Nicholas Ballasy | May 14, 2010 | 11:29 AM EDT

(CNSNews.com) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said this week that thanks to the new health-care reform law, musicians and other creative types could quit their jobs and focus on developing their talents because taxpayers would fund their health care coverage.

“We see it as an entrepreneurial bill,” Pelosi said, “a bill that says to someone, if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion, your aspirations because you will have health care.”
Pelosi made the remarks while speaking at the Capitol on Wednesday to the Asian American and Pacific Islanders Summit.”

Actually when I looked up Peggy’s post about Pelosi’s comment, I don’t see a lie at all. It appears Pelosi was pointing out the possible socialistic aspect of liberal arts and Obamacare. Pelosi was just telling her audience , let someone else pay for your wants. To me it was another empty sales pitch, much like other liberal statements about Obamacare that have been proven false.

If you cannot see the very clear difference between what you just wrote and what Peggy wrote, I don’t know how to help you. She claimed that Pelosi was talking about people who “lost” their jobs. That never happened. You are pointing out that she was talking about people who could voluntarily quit their jobs, which is exactly what I said.

Do you seriously not see the difference?

ABC news lied tonight, they truly are fake news.

    Jack,

I’ve read the above nine times, and I still can’t figure out where it says that the commenter was wrong to state that most of the heroin is coming through legal ports of entry. Did you leave something out? What am I missing here?

NBC, NYT, and WaPo all confirm her claim. Are they all fake news?

And what of Trump’s other inaccuracies, such as his claim that Mexico will be paying for a wall through a trade deal, when that is not how that works and is not going to happen?

Also, are you saying you now support the wall?

    • Post Scripts says:

Chris, the implication was quite clear, at least in my mind. So-called expert says the southern border in the not the main import source for heroin, but, in fact it is…and overwhelming so! Now remember she is saying that securing the border is not as meaningful to curbing heroin smuggling as securing other legal ports of entry. That’s quit clear isn’t it? Trump is talking about the border and she is talking about “other legal ports of entry.” Where is the confusion? I am for a secure border and how that can be best achieved is a matter of debate. No doubt a wall in some sections is reasonable, barbed wire and heavy patrols in other section even better and high tech devices in the most remote areas. One method can’t do it all and I think we can agree on that, can’t we? By the way, you are for a basically secure border and the enforcement of reasonable immigration rules, right? I would sure hope so. I can’t even fathom how any thinking person could actually want to leave our southern border open. 3/4ths of the population of Mexico and South America would soon flood into the USA if that were the case. Why would anyone stay in a dirt poor, corrupt, crime ridden and oppressive country if our door was wide open?

I would like to go Harvard for free, but Harvard has strict admissions rules, if they didn’t they wouldn’t be Harvard anymore. USA is the Harvard of nations.

      • Chris says:

        Jack,

I’d need to see the expert’s actual quote–which you did not provide–to see if she meant other legal points of entry besides the ones at the Southern border, or legal points of entry at the Southern border. I initially read your post to mean she said the latter. So did Libby. If that’s what she said, then her point is correct, and backed up by every fact-checker in the world. If she said the former, you should have made that clear in the post. Either way, you should have provided her actual quote (and name) so we could verify whether ABC News was actually promoting fake news as you allege in the post.

My suspicion is that she, like everyone else, was simply saying that the majority of the heroin is moved through legal points of entry at the border, and it is you who is promoting fake news, not her.

But there’s no way of knowing that unless you provide the actual quote. (I could look up the segment, but I’m not doing your work for you. You want to accuse someone of lying, you need to actually show what the lie was.)

A wall would not prevent heroin from being moved through legal ports of entry at the border, of course. We can talk about how to improve border security so that it doesn’t get in at those ports of entry, but obviously, that is not what Trump was talking about in his speech, nor is it what he focuses on more generally.

“I can’t even fathom how any thinking person could actually want to leave our southern border open. 3/4ths of the population of Mexico and South America would soon flood into the USA if that were the case. ”

It is very hard for rational people to take your arguments seriously when you make up obviously ridiculous statistics like this and put them forward as if they are fact.

        • Post Scripts says:

Chris, as I said at the time of my article, I was watching this on TV, it was not possible to give you a word for word quote or supply the transcript. However, for what its worth, I’m not the only one to take exception to what she said. I heard it mention several times later on radio talk shows and their comments mirrored my own. So I am satisfied I got it right. I realize you are a literal person and my comments may NOT need meet with your extraordinary threshold of proof. But, this is about as much time as I am willing to spend defending myself.

          • Post Scripts says:

Okay, I did a little more. Seems I am always going the extra step for you Chris. This is from FACT CHECKER: CLAIM: “President Trump said the southern border pipeline vast quantities of illegal drugs including meth, heroin, cocaine and fentanyl. He said that every week, 300 U.S. citizens are killed by heroin alone, and 90 percent floods from the southern border.

FACT: According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 15,958 Americans died from heroin overdoses in 2017. This comes out to about 306 deaths per week. And according to the Drug Enforcement Administration’s 2018 report, “The SWB remains the primary entry point for heroin into the United States. Most of the heroin seized by CBP occurs along the U.S.-Mexico border near San Diego, California.”

The commentator on ABC took exception to his statement about the southern border be the problem and said heroin came mostly from legal ports of entry. THIS CLEARLY INFERRED THE SOUTHERN BORDER WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. That’s enough – either you get it or you don’t.

          • Chris says:

You think quoting a source without even linking to it is going the “extra step,” Jack? Really?

The commentator on ABC took exception to his statement about the southern border be the problem and said heroin came mostly from legal ports of entry. THIS CLEARLY INFERRED THE SOUTHERN BORDER WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. That’s enough – either you get it or you don’t.

Or, it infers that the wall won’t solve the problem. There is no way to know, because you accused her of lying without citing what she actually said.

          • Chris says:

            Sorry–“implies,” not “infers.”

      • Libby says:

” … in fact it is…and overwhelming so!”

For the hundred and twelfth time … if this heroin is making it’s way through legal points of entry, in trucks, trains, planes and boats … your wall ain’t going to stop it. Why do you keep harping on irrelevancies!?

Why have you abandoned the position of your original post on the subject? … to bolster the position, the authority of Mr. Pissy Face? … can’t be done.

The opioid epidemic has been affecting the American population over most of the past decade. After years of suggestion from US officials, Chinese President Xi Jinping has agreed to label the deadly opioid drug fentanyl a controlled substance. Along with the new label, it makes the drug illegal to sell to the US and doing so will result in “China’s maximum penalty under the law”.
