Mueller Report – A Catastrophe for Millions of True Believers

by Jack

The Mueller Report is FINALLY over and the Russia-gate hoax has imploded!

For the best part of  two years Democrats and their leftist allies in the news-entertainment business have been monumentally busy trying to keep this hoax alive.  Almost daily they assured us the smoking gun could be delivered as soon as tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow…..  But, there was no smoking gun.  It was a hoax  based a fraudulent dossier paid for by democrats.

For two years we’ve been subjected to a misinformation campaign that would have made Stalin proud.  The late night talk show hosts used comedy to damn Trump as the handmaiden of Putin and worse.  Saturday Night Live seemed particularly obsessed with skewering Trump using actor Alec Baldwin.   The viciousness of the jokes and disrespect for the president has been unrelenting as well as unprecedented.  MSNBC, CNN, ABC, et al, were all too eager to report rumors and innuendos cloaked as facts.

Reporter Matt Taibbi wrote, “Nobody wants to hear this, but news that Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller is headed home without issuing new charges is a death-blow for the reputation of the American news media.

As has long been rumored, the former FBI chief’s independent probe will result in multiple indictments and convictions, but no “presidency-wrecking” conspiracy charges, or anything that would meet the layman’s definition of “collusion” with Russia.

With the caveat that even this news might somehow turn out to be botched, the key detail in the many stories about the end of the Mueller investigation was best expressed by the New York Times:

A senior Justice Department official said that Mr. Mueller would not recommend new indictments.

The Times tried to soften the emotional blow for the millions of Americans trained in these years to place hopes for the overturn of the Trump presidency in Mueller. Nobody even pretended it was supposed to be a fact-finding mission, instead of an act of faith.

The Special Prosecutor literally became a religious figure during the last few years, with votive candles sold in his image and Saturday Night Live cast members singing “All I Want for Christmas is You” to him featuring the rhymey line: “Mueller please come through, because the only option is a coup.”

The Times story today tried to preserve Santa Mueller’s reputation, noting Trump’s Attorney General William Barr’s reaction was an “endorsement” of the fineness of Mueller’s work:

In an apparent endorsement of an investigation that Mr. Trump has relentlessly attacked as a “witch hunt,” Mr. Barr said Justice Department officials never had to intervene to keep Mr. Mueller from taking an inappropriate or unwarranted step.

Mueller, in other words, never stepped out of the bounds of his job description. But could the same be said for the news media?

For those anxious to keep the dream alive, the Times published its usual graphic of Trump-Russia “contacts,” inviting readers to keep making connections. But in a separate piece by Peter Baker, the paper noted the Mueller news had dire consequences for the press:

It will be a reckoning for President Trump, to be sure, but also for Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel, for Congress, for Democrats, for Republicans, for the news media and, yes, for the system as a whole…

In conclusion, Trump has been vindicated, the mainstream news media has suffered a tremendous blow to their credibility and the democrats may have just re-elected Trump for another 4 years!  What a stunning ending or is it?

  1. Libby says:

Liar. Again. There is no “hoax” to any of this.

Don, Jr., was actually and factually stupid enough to pursue a Russian offer of intelligence on Hils. Alas, this seems to have come to nothing that he can be charged with … which is a bummer.

And I would caution you against taking the Barr Summary as the whole report. There are likely revelations to come that will not reflect well on the character of Our Dear Leader, and his children.

But last week I read the most horrifying assessment of the work of some political data analytical firm which concludes that if the economy remains strong through 2020, the bovine among us will not turn out to the polls, his bigoted base will, and Trump will win a second term.

    That is distressing.

  2. Libby says:

Whoa ! This makes a nice change.

    https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/03/reimann-family-donation-krispy-kreme-panera-nazi-past.html

To have had to boycott the Peet’s would have been a hardship.

And, as I say, it makes a nice change from our public figures (Trump, King), with their endorsements of the white supremacy movement in this country.

  3. Chris says:

That there was no smoking gun does not mean Trump was “vindicated.” Barr even said that the report does not “exonerate” Trump.

The record is clear even in the absence of a smoking gun. Five members of the Trump campaign’s inner circle are now headed to prison precisely because of lies they told about their contacts with associates of the Russian government. Mueller was tasked to find “links and/or coordination” between the Trump campaign and members of the Russian government. He found lots of links, and there are even more in the public record that he did not choose to prosecute. “Coordination” was less obvious, though we’ll see what happens to Roger Stone, who has been charged of coordinating with WikiLeaks, a Russian propaganda arm.

These documented and prosecuted links make it clear that over half a dozen members of the Trump campaign’s inner circle had inappropriate contacts with members of the Russian government and lied about them. Those that have pleaded guilty or been convicted on these fronts include George Papadopoulos, Rick Gates, Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn. Roger Stone has also been charged on this basis. This does not include the Trump Tower meeting where Don Jr., Manafort, and Jared Kushner met with people who said they were from the Russian government and wanted to give them dirt on Hillary Clinton to help Trump win the election; for whatever reason, Mueller chose not to prosecute this. (It could still be prosecuted by SDNY.) It does not include the secret backchannel that Kushner tried to set up between the White House and the Kremlin. It does not include Manafort passing private polling data to Konstantin Klimnik. It does not include Trump’s lies about having no business dealings with Russia throughout the campaign, while he was still planning a massive Trump Tower in Moscow. It does not include Jeff Sessions’ lies about meeting with members of the Russian government. It does not include Trump’s open, public request that Russia release more of Hillary’s e-mails, which his more gullible supporters insist was a “joke” even though it’s exactly what Trump wanted. It does not include Trump’s repeated denials that Russia did anything at all wrong, or his outraged reaction to sanctions, or his insistence that Russia be allowed back in the G8, or his constant attempts to weaken NATO, or his bragging to Russian ambassadors in the White House about firing Comey over the Russia investigation, or his taking his interpreter’s notes and ordering him to say nothing about his private meeting with Putin. It does not include Trump’s daily, public attempts to intimidate investigators, as well as his intimidation of his own handpicked attorney general for recusing himself from an investigation he was legally required to recuse himself from. It does not include Trump firing said AG the day after the midterms, so outraged was Trump that he would dare to follow the law.

None of this was indicted under Mueller, though when the full report is released to the public, we may see explanations as to why.

All of these details together create a pattern that Mueller may have worried could not be proven beyong a reasonable doubt.

But any reasonable person can see the pattern and be disturbed by it.

But you’re too busy rejoicing that there’s no “smoking gun,” so low are your standards for this presidency.

I always suspected the Mueller report would end without a smoking gun proving collusion. But the quid pro quo is unfolding before our very eyes. Fact: The Russian government made numerous attempts to influence the election in Trump’s favor. Fact: This involved openly reaching out to several members of the Trump campaign. Fact: No member of the Trump campaign ever reported any of these contacts to the FBI. Fact: Over half a dozen members of the Trump campaign, and Trump himself, lied about these and other contacts. Some of them lied to Congress, some of them lied to the FBI, and all of them, including Trump, lied to the public. Fact: Trump has repeatedly refused to condemn Russia, and in many ways has acted in ways that could be reasonably interpreted as him rewarding them for their assistance. Fact: Trump has always been clear that he helps people who help him. He has said this outright. That is his sole criteria for determining a person’s worth. That is all he has ever cared about.

But you don’t care. You don’t even want to know why.

You’re more interested in trying to salvage the reputation of a man whose reputation is already worth nothing.

You’re more interested in that then in examining the very real possibility that the president is compromised by a foreign power, and is acting in ways that put that foreign power’s interests above our own.

If five key members of the Obama campaign were headed to federal prison, your reaction would not be to gloat over the fact that there was no “smoking gun” directly implicating Obama. You would demand to know what he knew and when he knew it, and why he hired so many money launderers, tax cheats, bank fraudsters, and unregistered foreign agents to work so closely with him.

Demand the same of Trump now.

    JUSTIFIED!!!!!

  5. Cherokee Jack says:

“What a stunning ending or is it?”

What you’re not going to hear is one True Believer admitting there was no collusion. The clinically insane don’t let facts get in the way of their delusions.

Mueller didn’t do his job; We’re going to keep looking until we find it; Putin helped cover-up; Fox news is lying about the whole thing; Or, add you own spin here _____________.
I’d like to believe this will get Trump re-elected, but the blues are multiplying exponentially. We’ll soon be getting felons, 16 year-olds, illegal aliens, and probably the walking dead, voting for whichever bizarre candidate out-weirds the democrat field and offers plenty of free stuff. And the alphabet news will keep the propaganda machine cranked up.

    • Post Scripts says:

CJ, I totally agree with you. I was listening to CNN’s Situation Room today and the excuses that were being offers were so predictable that it was comical to watch. “The Mueller Report really didn’t exonerate Trump of anything.” “Now it’s up to Congress to determine if he obstructed.” “The Mueller report was swayed by political bias.” “The A/G had a conflict of interest and should have stayed out of it.” “Lets wait and see what the redacted parts in the report say!” “He’s guilty – they just couldn’t prove it.” Yadda Yadda Yadda Yadda Yadda Yadda Yadda…..

      • Chris says:

“The Mueller Report really didn’t exonerate Trump of anything.”

That’s a fact, Jack. Even Bill Barr said it was a fact, right before Trump tweeted “TOTALLY EXONERATED!” How have you not learned to not trust Trump’s tweets to capture the truth by now?

I haven’t seen anyone on the left claim Mueller was politically biased or did a bad job. In fact, it was the right who’s been claiming for two years that Mueller—a Republican—was a leftist Deep State stooge trying to bring down Trump. Where’s your apology to him?

      • Libby says:

“He’s guilty – they just couldn’t prove it.”

Oh, Dude. That’s not us. That’s you … about Hils.

My Colbert … such a comfort … nailed Our Dear Leader’s slats to the wall … for the lying sack of you-know-what that he is.

    • Peggy says:

Democrats believe the lies because they want to. No amount of truth will ever get through to them. That’s why they watch CNN, etc. whose viewership is depending on those who hate Trump and still believe he’s not their president. They need a daily reinforcement of the lies to justify their never having to admit they were wrong and lied to by their party and the media about everything for the past three years.

See the video of James Clapper admitting Obama gets the credit for the Russian investigation and Mueller appointment I posted elsewhere. You would think this video would have gone viral, but it hasn’t.

  6. Peggy says:

The icing on the cake will be IG Horowitz’s report, which is due on in the next couple of months and the special prosecutor/investigator Lindsey Graham says he will work to set up to investigate the FBI, FISA and all of those involved in this hoax. It’s shocking to realize that one political party used the power of our gov’t against another political party’s candidate.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2019/03/25/lindsey-graham-wants-gop-investigate-fbi-probe-trump-campaign/3266643002/

Can’t you just imagine the poor people who tuned into CNN, MSNBC and the network news shows to learn they were all lied to? The liberal media dug their own graves and it looks like most of them aren’t going to put down their shovels.

    • Chris says:

“ It’s shocking to realize that one political party used the power of our gov’t against another political party’s candidate.”

It’s shocking that you can just blatantly lie and not feel bad about it.

      Comey: Republican
      Mueller: Republican
      Rod Rosenstein: Republican
Every FISA court judge that authorized Page wiretap: Republican

      • Post Scripts says:

Comey was a RINO and he was hanging with the left and leaking info., hardly the act of a true republican. Mueller and Rosenstein both heavy criticized by Trump, especially Rosenstein! He would have been hailed a hero by the left if he quit the investigation and he could have upped his tax bracket, but he didn’t and he chose to put his name to this document. Check this out Chris: “During his Senate Judiciary Committee testimony, Rosenstein said that he has not “been a member nor held office in or rendered services to any political party or election committee.” Rosenstein has served under both Democratic and Republican presidents and NOBODY knows which party he belongs too. https://heavy.com/news/2017/05/rod-rosensteins-political-affiliation-is-he-a-republican-or-a-democrat/

Do you know for a fact every FISA court judge was a registered republican? Whats your source, hope not the same one that said Rosenstein was a GOP loyalist?

        • Libby says:

          “Comey was a RINO …”

No, he was a Republican. Why can’t you accept that? It’s YOU … who are the fringe of crazies, so deranged with resentment that you can’t even identify your own best interest. It’s biiizzarro, it really is.

        • Chris says:

Jack, have you never heard of the No True Scotsman fallacy? Because you’re using it right now in your remarks about Comey.

Your statements about Rosenstein only help prove false Peggy’s ridiculous assertion that the investigation meant that “one political party used the power of our gov’t against another political party’s candidate.” Thank you for helping me expose that as a lie.

Mueller and Rosenstein both heavy criticized by Trump, especially Rosenstein!

You say that as if it reflects badly on Mueller and Rosenstein, not on Trump. I mean, for goodness’ sake:

JOHNSON: Yeah. There’s a report by CNN this week that President Trump asked Rosenstein whose team he was on in December, reminiscent of the kind of loyalty oath other top law enforcement folks have been talking about. They’ve been asked by the president. I’m told that Rosenstein deflected the question when Trump asked it and said that as president, he deserved everyone’s loyalty.

In what universe is Rosenstein the bad guy here?

Do you know for a fact every FISA court judge was a registered republican? Whats your source, hope not the same one that said Rosenstein was a GOP loyalist?

I have not read any source that says Rosenstein was a “GOP loyalist,” just a Republican, and there was plenty of evidence for that in the Heavy article you linked to.

I may have gone too far when I said every one of the FISA court judges is a Republican; I should have said they were all appointed by Republicans:

George W. Bush nominated Rosemary Collyer to D.C. federal court, and Michael Mosman to the District of Oregon. Ann Conway was a George H.W. Bush pick to the Middle District of Florida. Ronald Reagan tapped Raymond J. Dearie to take a seat in the Eastern District of New York. FISA court judges are appointed by the Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, and the conservative Roberts named all of them to those position. Roberts was nominated to the Supreme Court by President George W. Bush.

          https://lawandcrime.com/politics/judges-who-approved-carter-page-fisa-warrants-were-all-nominated-by-gop-presidents/

Again, the point is that the conspiracy theory that the Mueller investigation was premised on a leftist attempt to get Trump is absurdly false. The FBI would have been negligent to not investigate Trump and his campaign’s relationships with Russia given the many, many inappropriate contacts and lies about those contacts that we knew about when the investigation began, and it would have been negligence to not appoint a special counsel given Jeff Sessions’ involvement in those contacts and with the campaign as a whole.

Not one conservative here has been able to provide a rebuttal to that point; no one has offered any alternative explanation for those contacts and lies. No one here even seems to care that Trump himself lied about his relationship with Russia during the campaign. When Hillary pointed out that he had business dealings in Moscow, he called it “fake news.” Every single time I have brought this and other lies up, the conservatives here have pivoted to trying to smear the investigators. When will you either defend or renounce this conduct?

          • Post Scripts says:

Chris, I think it’s abundantly clear to most folks that pure partisan politics was the real driving force behind the Mueller probe and also the so-called “Resistance” within government that constantly leaked things to the press. That included high ranking members of the FBI and former CIA people.

Remember, Hillary’s campaign bought the discredited dossier that served as the foundation for fisa warrants, etc. So she was working with the Russians to get dirt on Trump…that’s collusion in my book.

In the scope of 2 years, with 40 FBI agents and 500 search warrants served, most of us would say the Mueller investigation swerved way out of it’s lane to get the goods on Trump or anyone connected to Trump, any goods, for virtually anything, not just collusion with the Russians. That sure looks political to me.

I believe Trump made some serious mistakes because of his amateur status as a candidate and president and this helped the dems sell their BS. And sadly, he continues to indirectly help his enemies with his tweets, although not quite as regularly as in his first year. But, were these things so outrageous that the democrats have a right to reverse an election? A reasonable person would have to say no.

I’ve never seen such hatred directed at any former president, the far left is obsessed with destroying Trump by any means and think the majority of American have had enough. If I am right you are going to see it reflected in the next election.

          • Libby says:

“I’ve never seen such hatred directed at any former president, …”

Boy, that is one dearth of self-awareness you got working there.

“In the scope of 2 years, ….”

And after we’ve had a look at the thing, we will be ready to move on … or not … depends on what’s in it.

You are hoping we’ll let it go without “getting the goods”, but that, you cannot have.

          • Chris says:

Chris, I think it’s abundantly clear to most folks that pure partisan politics was the real driving force behind the Mueller probe

I have already explained to you why no reasonable or responsible FBI would have failed to investigate the Trump campaign’s relationship with Russia given the vast web of connections that were documented at the time. But every time I explain this web, you ignore it. Why? Because you cannot explain it away. So you simply attack the investigators for doing their jobs.

I have also explained why a Special Counsel was necessary. Sessions had to recuse himself because of his connections with the campaign and his own contacts with Russians. This is so obvious…and yet you, and the president, complain about it. It doesn’t make any sense.

and also the so-called “Resistance” within government that constantly leaked things to the press.

There were far more leaks of the Hillary investigation than there were of the Trump investigation. Once Mueller took over, there were no leaks at all. We did not even know the FBI was investigating Trump during the campaign, but we did know they were investigating Hillary. I have asked over and over again how that comports with your theory that the FBI was out to influence the election in Hillary’s favor, and you’ve never been able to answer.

Remember, Hillary’s campaign bought the discredited dossier that served as the foundation for fisa warrants, etc. So she was working with the Russians to get dirt on Trump…that’s collusion in my book.

            More nonsense.

            1) The dossier has not been “discredited.”
            2) The dossier was not the only grounds for the FISA warrants.
            3) The FISA warrants had very little to do with the FBI investigation into the Trump campaign and absolutely nothing to do with the Mueller investigation. The warrants allowed the FBI to spy on Page *after* he was already done working on the campaign.
            4) Hillary did not “work with Russians.” She hired a firm that hired a private investigator who spoke to Russian sources that were betraying their government to give him information on Russia’s attempts to influence our election.

So if you want to call this “collusion,” go ahead…but collusion to do what? It can’t be collusion with Russians to influence the election, because the dossier was never revealed to the public until after. It can’t be collusion with the Russian government to influence the election, because the Russian government was working against Hillary, and Steele’s sources were working against the Russian government. So at best, you have…”Hillary colluded with traitors to Russia to inform the FBI that Russia was trying to influence our election.”

Explain to me why that’s bad.

Then explain to me why it’s worse than Don Jr., Manafort, and Kushner meeting with someone who said she was an agent of the Russian government who had dirt on Hillary. Then explain why it’s worse than Manafort giving private polling data to Klimnik. Then explain why it’s worse than Roger Stone working with Wikileaks.

I won’t go through the whole list again; every time I have, it’s been a waste of time. I hope this isn’t.

Three out of the four members of Trump’s campaign staff that are currently on their way to prison pleaded guilty or were convicted of crimes directly related to their contacts with Russia. Papadopoulos, Gates, and Flynn were all charged and sentenced for lying about those contacts. Manafort was also charged for being an unregistered foreign agent, but this charge was dropped after he pleaded guilty to other crimes, including conspiracy against the U.S. (This plea deal went haywire when Manafort continued to tell lies and commit other crimes after the deal.)

So as you can see, Mueller stayed well within his purview. When he saw crimes that were truly unrelated, such as Cohen’s campaign finance violations, he referred the cases to SDNY. Your theory seems to be that the Mueller investigation should have ignored evidence of other crimes entirely. That isn’t how any investigation works in this country.

But, were these things so outrageous that the democrats have a right to reverse an election? A reasonable person would have to say no.

No one is fighting for the right to “reverse an election.” Crimes were properly investigated, as Barr himself said in his statement. If impeachment happens, it will happen under a constitutional process. That also does not reverse an election.

    • Chris says:

If disagreement with the president, or even outright lying about the president, was treason, you and everyone else here on Post Scripts would be in a world of trouble.

  7. Harold says:

I for one, when I heard Pelosi make the statement she wasn’t going to pursue impeachment proceedings against Trump, I figured she had some advance (and politically troubling to her party) knowledge of Mueller’s final report.

And so it was troubling, not so much for Trump or his supporters , but for the anti- anything Trumpeters. It may even give Trump a leg up come re-election time, which is why the Demon-crates are scrambling to find fault, and discredit some of the findings,

Hummm, I wonder if Mueller will get a invite to the hill for a House grill fest.

Meanwhile this will give time for all the cry baby anti- trumpeters to restock their blanket and crayon supplies.

Meanwhile, the Dem’s are busy with their new fault finding agenda, and let Americas need’s take second place, which has always been their political playbook, a playbook riddled with “if it isn’t’ our idea, than oppose it with any stonewall method available” factual or not!

  8. Libby says:

“Hummm, I wonder if Mueller will get a invite to the hill for a House grill fest.”

Harold, is this REALLY what you want? Well, if Barr continues to refuse to release the entire text … maybe we will have Mueller up for some debriefing.

You guys are not thinking clearly about this at all.

    • Chris says:

I can’t fathom the mindset of a person who would watch that video and think it makes Trump look good.

And your description of the video, as well as its title, is misleading. When Clapper says it’s because of Obama that they did the “Intelligence Community Assessment,” he is referring to this:

      https://www.dni.gov/files/documents/ICA_2017_01.pdf

The assessment looked into Russian interference and determined that Russia did attempt to influence the election in favor of Trump. Of course, this led to the Mueller investigation; if the intelligence community had never concluded that Russia meddled, there’d never be any need to investigate the Trump administration’s probable involvement in it! That is of course not the same thing as saying Obama was directly behind the Russia investigation.

      Research and critical thinking…try it.

      • Chris says:

And if thinking is too hard for you…you could have just read the comments. There are only ten of them. Here’s one:

        “2BuckChuck
Obama ordered an assessment of potential interference before the election, he didnt start the mueller investigation. Clapper is saying that if obama hadnt asked for a risk assessment we might not have known about russian interference.
        please stop spreading fake news”

Love it when people realize they’ve been lied to.

Russia-Crazed Maddow’s Ratings Tank in Wake of Mueller Dud:

“Rachel Maddow, MSNBC’s premiere Russia conspiracy theorist, has begun to hemorrhage viewers following Attorney General William Barr’s anticlimactic summary of the Mueller report. Meanwhile Fox News’s Hannity, which occupies the same 9:00 p.m. Eastern timeslot as The Rachel Maddow Show, has skyrocketed in the ratings.

According to TV Newser’s nightly ratings scoreboard, Maddow’s audience has shrunk by nearly half a million people since the summary was released. Her ratings on Monday, March 25 were about 500,000 viewers short of her numbers from March 18 (the previous Monday).

The Daily Beast’s Maxwell Tani and Lloyd Grove posited this explanation for the trend:

And it’s also possible that the Mueller disappointment drove loyal viewers away in much the same way that people avoid looking at their 401(k)s when the stock market is down. Maddow, who has consistently vied for the first or second top-rated cable news program, was sixth on Monday evening, down almost 500,000 total viewers from the previous Monday, as was MSNBC’s second top-rated program in primetime, The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell.

Conversely, Fox News host Sean Hannity has enjoyed a considerable boost since the release of Barr’s summary, with the Monday, March 25 edition of Hannity outshining the previous Monday by more than 1,000,000 viewers. That evening, Hannity argued that Maddow and her ilk “should be apologizing to the American people” for profiting off of “lies to her audience.”

    • Chris says:

What lies did Maddow tell? Be specific.

      • Post Scripts says:

Chris, the National Review said this about Madow, you might like to read it: This wasn’t simply mindless partisanship.

For the past two years, Rachel Maddow has been a hero of her own spy thriller.
She has written, directed, and starred in a hit production based on the unlikely premise of a prime-time cable TV show host unraveling the most dastardly plot in American history — one opening monologue at a time.

Only the story had a surprise twist at the end — she was completely wrong.

Few people invested more in the Russia probe, night after night, monologue after monologue, with an ever-building sense of anticipation.
It is perhaps unfair to say that Maddow believed in a conspiracy theory, although her theory was quite literally that there was a conspiracy between Donald Trump and the Russians, perhaps an ongoing one.

The Mueller probe was obviously newsworthy. Yet Maddow approached it with a notably conspiratorial cast of mind and style.
She covered the story with a consistent breathlessness. She took evident pleasure over even minor jail sentences for minor players. No proceeding related to the probe was too small for her long, involved explications.

Jack, Two major stories will be coming out soon that will support Maddow’s been lying. The one will be Hillary’s connection with Ukraine to influence the 2016 election and the other will be Carter Page’s lawsuit.

“After nearly three years and millions of tax dollars, the Trump-Russia collusion probe is about to be resolved. Emerging in its place is newly unearthed evidence suggesting another foreign effort to influence the 2016 election — this time, in favor of the Democrats.

Ukraine’s top prosecutor divulged in an interview aired Wednesday on Hill.TV that he has opened an investigation into whether his country’s law enforcement apparatus intentionally leaked financial records during the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign about then-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort in an effort to sway the election in favor of Hillary Clinton.”

Carter Page: I Experienced The Trump-Russia Witch Hunt First Hand, Now We’re Getting The Real Truth:

” The Justice Department declined to comment for this report. Carter Page is now suing the federal government for allegedly using the media to spread false propaganda about him so it would be used as evidence to get a wiretap. He’s also suing Yahoo News, the Democratic National Committee and some of their consultants.”

Great find Peggy. Of course I feel bad for those who have had their lives ruined by this fiasco, but its real damage is to the country. The people involved in this election overthrow and all this muckraking seem to have no regard for how their lies and abuse of power will weigh on the nation. I think our country is in big trouble, but only time will tell.

          • Peggy says:

Jack, It’s heartbreaking for all of the individuals’ lives who have been ruined and for the division this attempted removal of a duly elected president has done to our country. This will be the worst scandal in our history, once all of the facts come out.

Democrats really want their cake and to eat it too. They demanded the Special Council process be changed after Ken Starr investigation released all of the information to the current one we have today. Now, they don’t want to follow this process because once again it didn’t work out to their advantage. They want everything made public now so they can use every word in it written by partisan Hillary/DNC supporters against Trump in the 2020 election.

Anyone who doesn’t believe Comey, Rosenstein, Muellar and the rest of the rats in the Obama administration didn’t cook this whole thing up is fooling themselves. It’s falling apart on them because Trump didn’t rollover and let them have their way to drive him out. He’s done what no republican has done since Reagan, he fought back. And when the voters according to the polls started turning on them after witnessing the treatment of Manafort being kept in solitary like a terrorist and CNN invited to the Stone middle of the night raid, the Rats decided to close up shop and attack him from a different angle. Now the attacks will come from House committees with the ongoing support of the biased media.

The coverup has to continue to protect Hillary and Obama. How many lives they destroy doesn’t matter. They must stop the public from ever knowing the truth. Will Barr do what’s best for the country and expose the lies and tell the truth or will/is he a political hack who will bury this to save the political scum who created it to save their own hides?

Where do all of these poor victims go to get their lives, homes and reputations back? How does our country recover? Remember how we all were together on 9/12/01? It was less than 18 years ago, but that country is gone, hopefully, not forever.

          • Post Scripts says:

Great post Peggy. I share your concerns and like you, I don’t know how we can ever repair this damage. God help us if it takes another 9/11.

          • Chris says:

Peggy, how do those stories show that Rachel Maddow was lying? You were asked to explain what specific lies she told. I have to assume you didn’t do that because you cannot do that.

You aren’t even describing the first story you linked to accurately. Even if the Ukraine did what that story alleges, it does not show a “connection” with Hillary.

            And this…

“” The Justice Department declined to comment for this report. Carter Page is now suing the federal government for allegedly using the media to spread false propaganda about him so it would be used as evidence to get a wiretap”

…Does not even make sense. It is a transparently ridiculous lawsuit. And it has nothing to do with the campaign; the warrant on Page was after he was done working on the campaign.

They want everything made public now so they can use every word in it written by partisan Hillary/DNC supporters against Trump in the 2020 election.

Why don’t you want it released, Peggy? Doesn’t it “totally exonerate” the president?

Anyone who doesn’t believe Comey, Rosenstein, Muellar and the rest of the rats in the Obama administration didn’t cook this whole thing up is fooling themselves.

            They. Are. All. Republicans.

And the idea that Comey is a “Hillary supporter” who would have done anything to help her is ridiculous. His letter a week before the election probably damaged her more than anything.

And when the voters according to the polls started turning on them after witnessing the treatment of Manafort being kept in solitary like a terrorist and CNN invited to the Stone middle of the night raid,

You are so terribly misinformed, and you do it to yourself, on purpose. Manafort himself said he was being treated really well. His conditions in solitary were absolutely nothing like what accused terrorists experience. And CNN was not “invited” to the Stone arrest. They were there as the result of actual journalism. All of this is easily Googlable. You just want to be misinformed.

For the followers of the lying liberal media here’s real collusion between Shiff and the Russians.

Audio: Russian Comedians Prank Called Rep. Adam Schiff, Promised Him Naked Photos Of Trump:

“In this audio posted on YouTube by Russian pranksters, Rep. Adam Schiff can be heard discussing claims that the FSB has naked pictures of President Trump. Assume these Russians are involved with intelligence operations.

The Daily Mail reports that Schiff sent his staff to try and collect “classified materials for the FBI” after the prank callers told him Putin has naked blackmail pictures of President Trump.

Schiff can be heard discussing the Russia investigation with a man who claimed to be Andriy Parubiy, the chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament.

“There were pictures of naked Trump,” one of the pranksters told Schiff, explaining that they were obtained by Putin’s goddaughter.

Schiff asks: “And the materials you can provide to the committee and to the FBI, would they corroborate this allegation? … So you have recordings… where they’re discussing the compromising material?”

“Obviously we would welcome the chance to get copies of those recordings,” Schiff tells them. “So we will try to work with the FBI to try to figure out how we can take copies of those… I’ll be in touch with the FBI about this, and we’ll make arrangements with your staff. I think it would be best to provide these materials to both our committee and the FBI. We’ll make arrangements between my staff and yours on how to facilitate that.”

More collusion by Schiff, who needs to be removed from chairman and member of the House Intelligence Committee. He demanded Nunes be removed, so the same rules should apply to him.

Adam Schiff, Glenn Simpson and their Forrest Gump-like encounter in Aspen:

“The new House Intelligence Committee chairman, Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), has proven to be his party’s most effective antagonist toward President Trump. And now, with the new powers of being chairman, he is drawing both new weapons and new scrutiny.

Sometimes such scrutiny inevitably turns to questions of hypocrisy.

Which bring us to the issue of some photographs taken at the prestigious Aspen security conference last July.

They show Schiff meeting at the event with Fusion GPS Founder Glenn Simpson, one of the key and most controversial figures in the Russia collusion scandal. Both men insisted to me through spokesmen that they met only briefly last July.

At the time of the encounter, Simpson was an important witness in the House Intelligence Committee probe who had given sworn testimony about alleged, but still unproven, collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign.

“It’s interesting that Simpson is at the heart of the dossier and the dossier played a mighty role in not only going after Carter Page but in much of Adam’s and Eric Swalwell’s [D-Calif.] quest to find collusion, that [Schiff] would in fact in that exact same conversation, or time frame, be in conversation or appear to be in conversation with the guy who’s principally responsible for the dossier,” Conaway said.

Whatever happened in Aspen won’t stay in Aspen much longer. Expect Republicans in Washington to launch some questions at the House’s new Intelligence Committee chairman.”

How many times in that does Schiff have to make it clear that he would turn over anything he found to the FBI in order for you to stop calling it “collusion?”

If anything, this only shows how commendable Schiff’s actions are in comparison to members of the Trump campaign. Several of them were approached by people claiming they were agents of the Russian government, and none of them EVER reported any of these contacts to the FBI. In fact, they lied about it.

So congratulations. You played yourself, and exposed once again how corrupt the Trump campaign was and how you have no principles, only transparent double standards.

    • Peggy says:

Libs, you really need to be better informed. Stop reading your liberal rags and get the real news.

Nunes recused himself from the committee chair after Schiff demanded he do so. Schiff is refusing to do the same after commiting far more and serious infractions. Nunes spoke to Trump once and the media after about what he’d discovered. Schiff has been in front of mics and on TV hundreds if not thousands of times disclosing classified information and lying to millions.

Nunes was found innocent of disclosing classified information and returned to his chairmanship. Schiff should be required to follow the same process.

Ethics Committee clears Rep. Devin Nunes:

“The Ethics Committee, however, announced Thursday that it would close its investigation following consultation with experts in the classification process, a step that resulted in the conclusion that any information Nunes shared was not classified.

Nunes denied coordinating his disclosure of the information with the Trump White House, but he ultimately bowed to political pressure over the flap and ceded control of the intelligence panel’s Russia inquiry to Reps. Mike Conaway (R-Texas), Tom Rooney (R-Fla.) and Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.).”

    This is how leader behaves:

“Speaker Nancy Pelosi sought to rally House Democrats behind closed doors Tuesday morning in the aftermath of special counsel Robert Mueller’s 22-month investigation.

“Be calm. Take a deep breath. Don’t become like them. We have to handle this professionally, officially, patriotically, strategically,” Pelosi said, referring to Republicans, during a closed-door meeting with House Democrats.

“Let’s just get the goods,” she said of Mueller’s report.”

I never was a big Nancy fan. I mean, she’s a career politician. But I may reconsider.

  14. Libby says:

Your leader, on the other hand, has come under the influence of a real creep:

“The Trump administration shocked much of Washington on Monday when it reversed legal course and urged a federal appeals court to strike down the entire Affordable Care Act, including its popular Medicaid expansion. The move has flustered congressional Republicans, who have been forced to quiet their gloating about the Mueller report and talk about health care, which they generally regard these days as political kryptonite.

“And now we know whom they can blame: Mick Mulvaney. Both Politico and the New York Times report that the White House chief of staff, along with one of his proteges, was the main driver behind the president’s decision, which was opposed by the attorney general, vice president, and secretary of health and human services.

“Mulvaney’s power move probably does not mean much for the future of Obamacare. But it does confirm that the man has acquired a great deal of influence in the White House—which, given his venal policy instincts and tin ear for politics, can’t possibly bode well for anybody, least of all Republican lawmakers.”

    https://slate.com/business/2019/03/mick-mulvaney-trump-obamacare-lawsuit-preexisting-conditions.html

    Oh Happy Day.

  15. Pie Guevara says:

RE Chris: That there was no smoking gun does not mean Trump was “vindicated.” Barr even said that the report does not “exonerate” Trump.

So, dear Piss and Lippy, what more asinine, worthless, idiotic charges do you have?

  16. Chris says:

I like Rich Lowry–I listen to “Left, Right, and Center” religiously, and he’s one of the regular co-hosts (I can’t recommend it highly enough–it’s civil and always captures a wide range of views)–but he’s dead wrong here.

The conspiracy theory was not created by Rachel Maddow, it was created entirely by Trump’s actions and the actions of those he chose to surround himself with. Trump openly embraced Putin during the campaign. He “joked” about accepting Russian help. He then refused to accept the intelligence community’s conclusions that Russia meddled. In the meantime, we were treated to a steady stream of revelations that members of his campaign had contacts with people acting on behalf of the Russian government–contacts that they did not report to the FBI. This includes his own son, son-in-law, and campaign chair meeting with people who said they were working on behalf of the Kremlin to help get Trump elected by giving them dirt on Hillary Clinton–the exact thing Trump had “jokingly” asked for on the campaign trail. (They claim they obtained no such information, and only discussed “adoptions”–in other words, Russian sanctions.)

This is, again, not a full accounting of the facts–I’ve provided fuller lists many times in the past few weeks. But even just based on the above, I don’t see any argument for why it would be wrong for a reasonable person to think that a conspiracy was out of the question.

Unlike other conspiracy theories, this one was eminently believable, and no fact directly contradicts it. I can say, with confidence, that George W. Bush would not orchestrate 9/11, and Barack Obama would not fake a birth certificate. You should be able to state that with confidence too. But can you really say with confidence that Donald Trump would absolutely never accept the help of Russia in winning the election?

We know his son, when approached with such an offer, responded “If it’s what you say I love it, especially later in the summer.” There is nothing in Trump Sr.’s lifetime of public behavior that would indicate he would not respond exactly the same.

So if you want to blame someone for the Trump/Russia collusion theory, blame Trump! He behaved exactly like a guilty man would in this situation ever since the first accusations were made. He lied throughout the whole process. He said many times that no one on his campaign had any contact with Russians, even though he knew about his son’s meetings. He continued to lie that he had no business dealings with Russia during the campaign. He was outraged about Jeff Sessions following the law by recusing himself from the investigation, and fired him for this out of vengeance the moment it was politically convenient. And that doesn’t even go into all the other lies by members of his campaign.

The Barr summary of the Mueller report doesn’t change any of these facts, nor does it make them any less suspicious. As I’ve said before, there may have never been any explicit deal between Trump or his campaign and the Russian government. But there didn’t need to be–the implicit quid pro quo has been clear all along, and is still unfolding. Russia helped Trump, and Trump is still helping Russia. Rachel Maddow didn’t make him do any of that.

  17. Peggy says:

Drip, drip, drip the truth on collusion is coming out. What will the media and congress do with it? Rhetorical question. We already know.

Report: Biden Meddled In Ukraine To Protect Corruption Schemes
    OAN Newsroom
    UPDATED 1:32 PM PT — Tuesday, April 2, 2019
Joe Biden reportedly played a prominent role in protecting corruption schemes in Ukraine. According to The Hill, the former vice president threatened to bankrupt the Ukrainian government back in 2016 if it did not fire its top prosecutor.

At the time, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin was investigating corruption allegations into an energy giant, where Biden’s son — Hunter — served as a board member.

Shokin reportedly got close to criminal indictments in the case, but Biden threatened to deny the country a one billion dollar loan if it did not remove Shokin from office.

“I said, ‘I’m telling you, you’re not getting the billion dollars’…I looked at them and said, ‘I’m leaving in six hours….if the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money’…well, son of a bitch, he got fired and they put in place someone who was solid at the time,” Biden stated at a Council on Foreign Relations meeting.

Biden also suggested then-president Obama”was complicit in his effort to force the ousting of the prosecutor.

    https://www.oann.com/report-biden-meddled-in-ukraine-to-protect-corruption-schemes/?fbclid=IwAR246kLtnWGFovgmi9T03VHiG3ux–L85jRdM-WzvQ7XPoHuapIlr8DEY_M

    • Chris says:

First, Peggy, thank you for once again proving—as you did when you accused Adam Schiff of “collusion” for *checks notes* reporting shit to the FBI, as every single Trump campaign staffer who was approached by Russian agents failed to do—that you have absolutely no idea what “collusion” is or what it means in the context of the investigation into Donald Trump.

Spoiler alert: threatening a foreign government to make policy changes cannot be “collusion” with that government in any meaningful sense. Obviously. Why do I have to explain this to a grown adult?

So even if that article is correct in suggesting that Biden threatened the government of Ukraine because of investigations into his son’s business, that would be wrong, but it wouldn’t be “collusion.”

But there’s no reason to take that article’s implications seriously, because it is—like everything that propaganda rag OAN publishes—deliberately, transparently misleading, as anyone with an eighth grade education should be able to tell by a cursory read. For instance, an average reader would notice that there is absolutely no context to the quote provided by Biden—it doesn’t give his explanation for *why* he threatened to deny them that loan if they did not replace the prosecutor, because OAN doesn’t want the reader entertaining plausible alternate theories than the one it suggests. That isn’t journalism, Peggy.

If you read the full context of Biden’s remarks, he actually says the threat was made as a result of the Ukrainian government’s *failure* to investigate corruption properly. (The remarks are near the end of the speech.)

      https://www.cfr.org/event/foreign-affairs-issue-launch-former-vice-president-joe-biden

Now, it is still of course possible that Biden’s threat was meant to punish the prosecutor for investigating his son. (But if you care about that, one wonders why you do not also care that President Trump has explicitly fired people to punish them for investigating him.) But that wouldn’t be collusion, and that wouldn’t make your article any less out of context and biased.

      • Chris says:

        Peggy,

Pointing out that you are spreading lies and conspiracy theories–in order to protect the liar and conspiracy theorist in chief–is not “bullying.” Nor can my language be referred to as “verbally abusive.” This is just snowflakey behavior on your part–you cannot take criticism, and you resent being held accountable to defend the ridiculous arguments you’ve made. You’d rather this be a safe space where you are never asked to back up your ridiculous claims. Too bad. Make better arguments. This has nothing to do with a “difference of opinion.” You’re accusing people of “collusion” left and right while demonstrating you have zero idea what that word means or how it is used in context. Stop using your age as a shield. That is truly stupid behavior, and as long as you keep helping others make the world a stupider place, I’m going to keep popping that bubble of yours.

        Deal with it.

      • Chris says:

One more thing: part of treating people with respect is holding them accountable when they do wrong, and holding them to reasonable expectations. I may sometimes insult you, but I always back up those insults with logic and reasonable explanations of why you are wrong. In no way does that demonstrate that I don’t think you “have the right to believe differently.” It means I expect you to base your beliefs on logic and reason. Now, if you want me to stop holding you to that expectation, just tell me. But don’t call that “respect.” What you want is deference and molly-coddling. I’ll pass on giving you that. But it would be nice to hear you admit that’s what you want.

  18. Peggy says:

Well, well, well. look who funded the Steele dossier.
