MECHA Latinx Graduation at Chico State

by Jack

Nearly 4000 students graduated from Chico State this year!  That’s an incredible number, but another incredible number was the 33% that were Hispanic that made up another graduation ceremony.

Why a separate ceremony, you may wonder?  As it was explained to me years ago, the Hispanic graduates wanted an intimate ceremony, where Spanish speaking friends and relatives could feel more comfortable among their own and speaking their own native language.  In this way they could understand what was happening,  cheer and celebrate, not only the accomplishments of these students, but the liberation of Hispanic people from yoke of oppression by a racist, imperialistic, sexist and homophobic (white) society.  These are not my words, these words come from MECHA representatives.  Further, this ceremony is about preserving a cultural identity of indigenous Anahuak peoples.   Anahuak, an ancient name for a Mesoamerican, particularly Aztec.   Naturally the ceremony was held mostly in Spanish which is California’s un-official second language.

This special ceremony is called Latinx and it was created right after the tumultuous anti-war years that saw campus radicals from coast to coast burning draft cards, American flags and rioting.   So it was that 42 years ago the Hispanic group MECHA began recognizing  Hispanic graduates in a sperate ceremony.  This great tradition separation and race based accolades continues on to this day increasing numbers,  in Chico and many other colleges in CA and the Southwestern States.  Kinda makes you proud to be an American Anahuakian!

And now without further commentary, I bring you Latinx Class of 2019 at CSUC!

I was trying to decide if Mecha really was a racist group, because I’ve heard they were from a number of well informed conservative people. So far, this is what I found. The Southern Poverty Law Center’s definition of a “hate” group is probably the most clear and useful: All hate groups have beliefs or practices that attack or malign an entire class of people, typically for their immutable characteristics.

There have been incidents in the past by some Mecha members that were definitely racist. I listed a few below.

Wikipedia said, M.E.Ch.A. (Spanish: Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanx de Aztlán; “Chicanx Student Movement of Aztlán”, the x being a gender neutral inflection) is an organization that seeks to promote Chicano unity and empowerment through political action. The acronym of the organization’s name is the Chicano word mecha, which is the Chicano pronunciation of the English word match[citation needed] and therefore symbolic of a fire or spark; mecha in Spanish means fuse or wick. The motto of MEChA is ‘La Union Hace La Fuerza’.

One common feature of logos used by MEChA chapters is an Eagle holding a lit stick of dynamite and a macuahuitl.

MEChA members were accused of theft of an entire press run of a particular issue of the UC Berkeley conservative newspaper California Patriot which was featuring an article that labelled MEChA a “neo-Nazi”-like organization. Police reported that over 3,000 copies (valued at $1,500 – $2,000) were stolen during a break-in at the Patriot office in Eshleman Hall. The issue of the paper included an article, entitled “MEChA: Student Funded Bigotry and Hate,” blames the group for impeding “advances in civil rights toward a colorblind American society” through “anti-American hate” and “a mentality that leads its adherents to believe anyone who is white and male is to blame for any historical injustice.” The article written by the California Patriot staff, which Time magazine described as reveling in their roles as provocateurs, included controversial remarks made by a separate organization that were falsely attributed to MEChA. MEChA denied any involvement in the incidents and “condemns harassment,” said Livia Rojas, a leader in the group. The case was ultimately dropped as insufficient evidence was found to implicate any suspects.

A similar incident happened in Pasadena about 4 years later. However, student leaders of MEChA on campus maintained that the group as a whole was not responsible for the incident. They blamed it on a few radicals.

My take is any group that uses race to determine who they support and who they exclude is racist. I believe that racism in any form divides. Holding separate graduation ceremonies runs contrary to what colleges and universities are all about, that is, preparing students to enter a multicultural society. For many minorities this could be a first time experience working side by side with people from other cultures. This should be promoted and anything that compromises this wonderful learning opportunity should be rejected. I think America should be one country, with one culture and one language that unites. 100% color blind and without prejudice to one’s ethnicity, religion or heritage as long as they believe in one America and the great melting pot. Is this wrong?

      • J Soden says:

        Well said, Jack L.
And it’s funny how the r-word is immediately used when those on the Left don’t like what others say or think.
And if disagreeing with the Lefties makes them call me that word, no problemo. It’s just a word!

        • Post Scripts says:

Thanks J.S., glad we are in agreement on this one.

If Mecha is strictly a benevolent society to help students make it through college, then fine. we have no issue. But, I keep hearing their mission is about promoting and assisting people based on race and a lot more that has to do with militancy and control.

This group also seem hung up on being victims of you name it cause du jur. Mecha says they were victims of imperialism because of the Mexican-American War. Okay, but the war has been over for almost 200 years, time to get over it. But, if you want point fingers for aggression, lets not forget that Mexico took the land away from Spain and Spain took it away from the Aztecs and the Aztecs took it away from the Mayan, and on and on it goes.

The area we know as California, Nevada, New Mexico, and part of Utah, was only part of Mexico for roughly two decades. During that time very few of their citizens ever came across the Rio Grande to settle in the north due to the local Indian tribes that had a habit of killing trespassers.

In reality Mexico’s hold on this area was in name only. It’s not like the USA took away their ancestral homeland of the last 1000 years, but admittedly we did take it by force using the idea of manifest destiny. But, we would not be the nation we are today had we not developed this nation from coast to coast and stepped on a lot of toes in the process.

If we had not had this great vision… Texas would be either a separate country or part of Mexico. The Louisiana purchase would never have happened. Russia would be in Alaska. Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, and California would be part of Mexico. Hawaii would have gone to either Japan or a European country.

Imagine us going into WWII with a mere fraction of our 1940’s industrial ability and size…oh and with Japan controlling Hawaii? Germany and Japan would have won the war and carved up America and a lot more. The world would be a very different place today. Yet, there are Mexican nationalists (and American liberals) who would like give these Southwestern states to Mexico or at the very least install turn-stiles at the Southern border.

          • Peggy says:

And Jack after the American-Mexican war, where we conquered the land all of the way to Mexico City, we signed the Hidalgo Treaty which gave it back and paid Mexico millions of dollars. What other country gave back land and paid off agreements? None.

            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Guadalupe_Hidalgo

Also, there’s a good series on Amazon’s Prime Video called, “The Man in the High Castle” that shows what could have become of America if Germany and Japan had won WWll and we lost. America is divided between the two victors and all evidence of the America that once was is being destroyed.

The La Raza motto is “For La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada.” It means “For The Race everything. Outside The Race, nothing.” MEChA stands for “Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan.”

La Raza and MEChA instruct members that they are genetically superior race born of Spaniard conquerors mixing with “New World” natives. They are the “new people.”

The ultimate goal of both organizations is “Recoquista” and “El Plan Espiritual de Aztlan” (The Spiritual Plan for Aztlan). Spiritual? My ass. This is what that “spiritual” plan states —

In the spirit of a new people that is conscious not only of its proud historical heritage but also of the brutal gringo invasion of our territories, we, the Chicano inhabitants and civilizers of the northern land of Aztlan from whence came our forefathers, reclaiming the land of their birth and consecrating the determination of our people of the sun, declare that the call of our blood is our power, our responsibility, and our inevitable destiny. … Aztlan belongs to those who plant the seeds, water the fields, and gather the crops and not to the foreign Europeans. … We are a bronze people with a bronze culture. Before the world, before all of North America, before all our brothers in the bronze continent, we are a nation, we are a union of free pueblos, we are Aztlan. For La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada.”

In case you missed it, the term “gringo” is the “spiritual” equivalent of “nigger” amongst the proud bronze people.

Reconquista” and “Aztlan” are all about “reconquering” a large part of the USA, driving out or spilling the blood of anyone not of “The Race.” How wonderful! Gee, who could not like that goal?

MEChA and La Raza use US tolerance, good will and taxpayer treasure for “protected classes” and to fund their racist cause. They have no intention of “assimilation” but are separatists who use American tax confiscation to fight to destroy the very society that funds and supports these vile racist organizations. I suppose a “thank you” would be out of order.

In 2005 La Raza pulled in $15.2 million in federal grants of which $7.9 million was in U.S. Department of Education grants. What they got out of state goverments is not tabulated. I cannot help wondering what they pull in now, en total. Given that 33% of recent Chico State graduates alone were separatist “Latinx”, the dollar numbers must now be astronomical. I wonder how many of that 33% took the place of non-Lantinos just as (or even more) deserving on merit but are not of a favored race class. I wonder how much taxpayer dough these racist separatists pulled in federal and state grants.

I also cannot help but wonder how much the KKK pulls in a year in state and federal grants these days.

Funding racists who seek to destroy our society seems a bit counter-productive and masochistic. Are we really that sick, stupid and depraved a society? If so, we deserved to be conquered. No wonder white nationalists are pissed off. They are getting the short end of the stick.

    • Post Scripts says:

Pie, first off that was a wonderful post, one of the best ever, thank you sir! Next, you posed a closing question, “Funding racists who seek to destroy our society seems a bit counter-productive and masochistic. Are we really that sick, stupid and depraved a society?” My answer would be yes, yes we are. At least within the confines of those who identify as liberals or progressives.

Now I have a question for our readers. Is liberalism a mental disorder? If yes, is it linked to an obsessive, compulsive disorder? I have to wonder, because it seems like liberals [obsessively] embrace any grievance that is attached to a black or brown minority group, so long as it involves something whitey allegedly did sometime; no matter how many generations removed from the alleged victimizing, it might as well have happened yesterday. The usual [resolution] for this grievance is money, lots of money, call it reparations or whatever. Somebody gets paid off and then life is back in balance in the land of unicorns.

Reality check: America seems to be the only country on the face of this planet that entertains, much less condones, such utter nonsense. (Fools and race baiters can hide behind the 1st amendment, that’s their right, but it doesn’t make them right.) Everybody, white , brown, black, yellow and red has been wronged at sometime in someplace. Such claims have no end. We might as well form a big circle and give $500 bucks to the neighbors on our left and the neighbors on our right give it back to us, then we can call it even so we can move on to more productive things.

      • Pie Guevara says:

I suggest you all take 500 clams from your neighbors on the left and hand them to me.

      • Post Scripts says:

        Pie Here —

Re: Is liberalism a mental disorder?

No, not in the classical sense. Classical liberalism is a conservative philosophy of freedom, liberty and the rights of man. It is about human individuals freely forming social and economic groups outside of government control or intervention and freely associating with one another in an environment where the state stays the hell out of the way except in cases of lawbreaking and jurisprudence.

Progressivism — born of Communism (née Marxism) and Democratic party statism — is the mental disorder that infected liberals in the 1920s-30s, progressed into an epidemic in the 50s, continued to expand extensively in the ’60s and ’70s. It became a full blown pandemic for “liberals” and “liberal academia” from then to today. Progressivism is a blend of sociopathic tendencies and dissociative identity disorder. (See any post from Chris Souza to confirm this diagnosis.) It is a bizarre mishmash of post-modern gobbledygook, atheism, communism, utopianism (as distinct from eutopianism) and statism. Chris is a product of the disease. It is as sick as sick can get and it feeds on itself and the society at large by trying to control every aspect of human behavior from speech to thought and get paid for it from the confiscation of the earnings of taxpayers. It is all about gaining and holding power.

Dead Quentin Colgan laughably described himself as a “classical liberal.” Therein lies the disease. He was anything but. Chris Souza describes himself as a “Moderate SJW.” That is an oxymoron. Therein lies the disease. Progressives are so infected with their own self-righteousness and political correctness that they have given up any shred of self reflection and examination. Therein lies the disease.

Liberalism is not the mental disorder, progressivism is. Jack, if you want to use “liberalism” as a synonym for progressivism I won’t fault you or anyone else for it. The two terms are synonymous today. There isn’t one iota of difference and that is a damn shame. Progressives have usurped liberalism and I despise them for it as much as I despise Democrats and their despicable political and propaganda machines. Remember Kavanaugh.

      • Chris says:

        Is liberalism a mental disorder?

        Aaaaand I’m out. Bye.

  3. Harold says:

I am putting the trend of today’s division of America’s diverse population aside for a moment, which is a facet of today’s unrest supported in concept through the actions of groups like Mecha and Raza, as well as others.

Illegal immigration from the southern borders is simply a means for the democratic party to attempt to inflate certain states population numbers.

And with the democrats, it isn’t so much as a benevolent act in my opinion, as it is a attempt to gain a larger footprint in the House of Representatives.

So what if there is a influx of crime, as long as democrats get larger population numbers and can figure a way to get them voting, or at the very least counted in population census. People like Pelosi and Schumer, party leaders in congress of the Democratic party appear to be OK with trading the safety of Americans for the potential of increased power.

Recently it is clear President Trump has once more put America safety and sovereignty first and forced Mexico and Central America to be more accountable for their citizens illegal border crossings. Finally a President that stands up for America
and used tariffs and trade to help Mexico realize that commerce is important to their economy, maybe more so that allowing people to burden our border states. And who knows if Mexico’s blind eye attitude wasn’t a result of under the table incentives to Mexico from American Liberal types? But that is just a speculative thought.

So now Mexico, might address current porosity in their long standing strict Mexico and Central America border immigration policy, and become even more diligence to illegal entry into Mexico from Central America, (as well as their own population of illegals) which will aid in slowing down the illegal pass thru portal into America.

At least that is part of President Trump’s plan, which serve’s America better than Pelosi and her Democratic party’s scheme.

  4. Joe says:

So much for assimilation and the idea of a melting pot, the liberal’s delusion.

    • Pie Guevara says:

The melting pot has always been a delusion. If there were a melting pot every dish served would be a mishmash pot of unidentifiable gruel. Idealy we should be a nation of many and diverse cultures all dedicated to the precepts outlined in The Constitution.

God help us if fine Italian cuisine ever gets dissolved into Kraft macaroni and cheese in a melting pot. (Oh, hell, it has! Damn you Chef Boyardee.)

      • Joe says:

The melting pot is a Libby pot pie.

Just look at the progressive paradises like San Francrisco and Los Angeles. Feces and needles in the streets and on the sidewalks, the return of medieval disease, crime, corrupt politicians, oppressive taxes…the list goes on with no end in sight.

  5. Peggy says:

Wish I could say this is a small ray of hope for Calif., but it’s too far gone for this to make a difference.

California’s Legislature is less popular than Trump with the state’s voters, poll finds:

“PPIC’s latest statewide survey, conducted in late May, showed the Legislature with its lowest job approval rating among likely voters in nearly four years. And it was the first time in three years that the lawmakers’ approval slid below 40%.

The numbers: approve 34%, disapprove 53%. Since January, approval has fallen by 12 points and disapproval risen by 10.

Democratic voters approve of the Legislature by nearly 2 to 1 and Republicans disapprove by almost 8 to 1. Nothing shocking there. The key measurement came from the rapidly growing contingent of independent voters, who outnumber registered Republicans. Their grade of the Legislature was 32% approval, 55% disapproval.

Trump’s job approval rating was slightly higher than the Legislature’s at 38%. His disapproval was also higher: 60%. But Trump’s overall rating ticked up slightly since January.

Not Congress’ marks. It’s got a pathetic 22% approval, 73% disapproval.

Newsom’s numbers among likely voters are a tepid 47% approval, 37% disapproval — up 4 points in the positive column, but also up 8 on the negative side since January.

Former Gov. Jerry Brown’s ratings were consistently higher once the economy recovered.

It’s a bit startling for the Democratic-controlled Legislature’s approval to fall to Trump’s sorry level in this deep blue state.

I asked two political consultants about it. They both used to work in the Legislature.

Republican Rob Stutzman: “Social distress primarily related to the housing crisis is becoming more prevalent and disruptive. And there’s no public perception that elected leaders are doing anything effective to solve the crisis.”

Stutzman represents housing construction interests. But he’s 100% correct that the Legislature has bombed out — chickened out in the face of heavy opposition from local governments and NIMBYs — on its promise to spur construction of affordable housing. And there hasn’t been much push from the governor or legislative leaders.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of homeless are living in rat-infested Los Angeles squalor. That can’t help state government’s image.”

You guys are hysterical … in both senses of the word: deranged, and yet funny.

Take a dose of historical perspective:

    https://www.latimes.com/la-oe-arellano15jun15-story.html

… and see if it doesn’t settle you down.

Should the federal government subsidize an organization dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for the citizens? Progressively speaking, yes, it should.

Will doing this for persons of Hispanic descent destroy the country? Only a racist would think so.

    • Post Scripts says:

Libby you said, “Will doing this for persons of Hispanic descent destroy the country? Only a racist would think so.” Really? Only a racist would think so? I guess Martin Luther King is a racist then. See, he felt that when it came to government, it should be without discrimination as to race, color, creed, and so forth. He was quite famous for saying we should NOT judge people by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

The U.S. Constitution says that too.

The Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution limit the power of the federal and state governments to discriminate. The private sector is not directly constrained by the Constitution. However, it does explicitly prohibits states from violating an individual’s rights of due process and equal protection. Equal protection limits the State and Federal governments’ power to discriminate in their employment practices by treating employees, former employees, or job applicants unequally because of membership in a group, like a race, religion or sex. Due process protection requires that employees have a fair procedural process before they are terminated if the termination is related to a “liberty,” like the right to free speech, or a property interest.

And lastly this law speaks directly to what I said, “Government Code §§11135 et seq. prohibit unlawfully denied benefits or discriminating based on ethnic group identification, religion, age, sex, color, or physical or mental disability by employers that undertake programs or activities that are funded directly by the state, and employers that receive any financial assistance from the state.”

If the CA Latino Caucus introduces a public assistance bill just for Latinos that’s wrong and on a number of levels. It gives preference to a special interest based solely on their ethnicity, do you not understand why that would be wrong? America is supposed to be the great melting pot, where everyone is treated equally. State representatives take an oath to represent all the people equally… without racial preference. To do otherwise is to step back a 100 years.

      • Libby says:

The government doesn’t discriminate. It give grant monies to the NAACP too. It grants monies to (hopefully) legitimate educational non-profits the length and breadth of the land.

It is you … who are making an issue of the Hispanic one. Why are you doing that?

        • Post Scripts says:

Libs, this is true they do give grant money to the NAACP, but that requires them to give the same amount to all other similar organization, can’t just favor one, right? You seem to miss my point, that gov. is supposed to treat everyone equally, but on the other hand they can’t be giving to organizations that don’t care for our principles or are blatantly racist, like KKK or La Raza to name but a few. That’s fair isn’t it?

    • Pie Guevara says:

Lippy, I take La Raza and MEChA for what they say about themselves, not what some pathetic stooge at the risible LATimes claims.

      • Libby says:

But he’s a member, right? So he speaks for his little portion of the organization, right?

You just don’t like what he as to say … because it’s reasonable.

        • Pie Guevara says:

Thank you Lippy for proving the point about liberal mental disorders. No matter how clearly racist an organization is in what it says and does, you will believe a propagandist manipulator on a mission telling you the opposite. La Raza and MEChA are laughing at you, not me. I am merely disgusted with how obtuse you are.

  7. Pie Guevara says:
