Bernie Sanders – Socialist

by Jack

When an uber-lefty like MS NBC’s, Chris Mathews, compares the Sanders win in Nevada to the fall of France to the Nazi’s, you know the democrats are in serious trouble.  Mathews said, “I was reading last night about the fall of France in the summer of 1940, and the general, Renault, calls up Churchill and says, ‘It’s over.’ And Churchill says ‘How can it be? You’ve got the greatest army in Europe. How can it be over?’ He said, ‘It’s over.’

Many inside the DNC machine are wondering how they have arrived at this low point? Sanders is not even a democrat, he’s running as an independent. And to add further insult, he has continually bested the progressive candidates. Now all that remains between Bernie and “candidat pour certains” is the North Carolina primary. Polling shows Sanders gaining momentum, now up by +2 over Joe Biden who is losing ground. Close behind and also gaining traction is the newest entry, Mike Bloomberg.

The DNC successfully stopped Sanders in 2016 in an all out effort to secure Hillary Clinton as their nominee that was sure to take out Trump. We all know how that worked out, the DNC took a lot of heat from their voter base. So I don’t expect a repeat performance and neither does Bernie. He’s made it clear he will not cave to any insider pressure again.

The DNC finds itself in a tough spot. They don’t dare try to stop Sanders and they can’t bring themselves to openly back a socialist against Trump. Trump is the epitome of a fair trade capitalist, leading a booming economy and Sanders is the polar opposite. Sanders is all about big government and control. He loves to point out how socialism has worked well for Sweden and Denmark with a 60% tax rate, but he avoids talking about the longer list of countries that have failed under socialism such as, but not limited to, Venezuela, Soviet Union, India and for a time the UK. The evidence is in and socialism doesn’t work; however, the tendency of history to repeat itself is Sander’s last hope.

Trump and Sanders are both outspoken against the deep state that has long controlled DC politics. Both Trump and Sanders would blow it up and start over if they could. But, that’s where their similarities end.

The DNC is in a monumental crisis! Can ex-mayors Mike Bloomberg or Pete Buttigieg re-take the lead and the presidency? If you ask Chris Mathews he’ll tell you, “It’s over.”

I’m glad you’re still writing, Jack. These politics are really getting annoying. I sure hope Trump will be re-elected.

No, it’s evidence that Chris Matthews’ mind is in trouble. Something that plenty on the left, including myself, have been saying for years. Whatever you think of Bernie–I’m not a fan–comparing a Jewish socialist whose family survived the Holocaust to a Nazi is insane. Trump is the epitome of a fair trade capitalist… …And this is just as nuts. Tariffs are not fair trade, and his farm subsidies are definitely Big Government intervention. The man absolutely does not believe in anything resembling a free market. I remember people on this site used to say that the government shouldn’t pick winners and losers, but that’s all Trump does. Of course, it’s not socialism if the money goes to farmers; socialism is when the government helps people who don’t remind you of yourself.
