The president today claimed that the FDA had approved a drug to fight the coronavirus.

The FDA says they have not approved that drug.

Now can we admit that the president is not listening to experts?

      Ah, yes. Impeachment.

“The indictment that Brennan so enthusiastically and prematurely celebrated was flushed down the toilet on Monday, March 16, 2020 by the very prosecutors who brought it in the first place. They finally realized they had no case and asked the Judge to “dismiss with prejudice.” The Judge said “yes.” For those of you who are not lawyers, the phrase, “dismiss with prejudice” is the legal equivalent of a slam dunk by Lebron James in basketball:

a court case that is dismissed with prejudice means that it is dismissed permanently. A case dismissed with prejudice is over and done with, once and for all, and can’t be brought back to court.”

      • Chris says:

Larry C. Johnson is a former analyst at the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. He is the co-owner and CEO of BERG Associates, LLC (Business Exposure Reduction Group). He is best known for spreading a hoax in 2008 that Republican operatives had a videotape of Michelle Obama complaining about “whitey”.[1]

But CNN is the problem. Sure.

Anyway, Johnson’s analysis is predictably terrible. This case was dropped because there is no chance of the Russians accused ever appearing for trial in the U.S., and because their firm was suspected of using the case to obtain details that would jeopardize our national security. In no way does the prosecutor’s decision change the fact that Russia meddled in the 2016 election–and Johnson’s claim otherwise is simply Russian propaganda. It is beyond disturbing how many on the right have aided Russia, a country they used to rightfully mistrust, in these propaganda efforts.

    • Chris says:

Ah. Well, as long as the president nodded, then it’s completely ok that he said the FDA had approved a drug it had not actually approved.

I’ll say it again: the standards you hold this man to are embarrassingly low, far below any standards you would have held any president to, or any kind of leader at all. It’s embarrassing and demeaning. We need a leader who can speak accurately and coherently during a crisis. You knew Trump was not that leader in 2016 and you know it now, but as long as he continues to trigger people like me, you won’t care. You hate me more than you love America.

    • Chris says:

Impeachment would have given us President Pence. After seeing how the two men handled the same question today, that certainly looks like a preferable alternative.

Peter Alexander: What do you say to Americans who are scared?

President Trump: I say that you’re a terrible reporter. That’s what I say. I think it’s a very nasty question and I think it’s a very bad signal that you’re putting out to the American people.

      https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/mar/20/trump-coronavirus-question-attack-reporter-over-fears

Mike Pence, when asked the same question, responded “Do not be afraid. Be vigilant.” That’s how a normal president–heck, a normal person–would answer that completely normal question. Any other president could have handled it. Not Trump. He had to take it as a personal attack and once again make it about me, me, me. Face it: he is incredibly bad at being president. He has no ability to reassure or unite the public. He needs to resign or be voted out.
