COVIDS SPREAD – The Begining of the END?

by Jack

According to most of our experts, the spread of COVIDs in CA peaked about 5 days ago and we are seeing daily declines.  New York is seeing a drop too.  There will of course be new highs in other states, but the rate of infection is still well below what our models have projected and the rate of recoveries is more in line the flu.

As of right now we can’t show how the draconian restrictions have saved lives anymore than moderate restrictions.    But, we can show how this quarantine has devastated our economy and the long term damage is yet to be tallied.

By all accounts the spread of COVIDs has been about as dangerous as a bad flu season.  A bad flu season has about 60,000 deaths.  The stats today in the USA are 814,490 cases, 44,342 deaths, Hospital Recovery 74,754.

The Lt. Governor of Texas said their state has a population of 29 million and they have had 495 deaths from COVIDS.  He notes that every life is important, but if they kill their economy in the process, what was the point?

CA Congressman, Tom McClintock said and I am paraphrasing, the governors of the blue states seem to think this quarantine was an “all or nothing” kind of thing.   It’s not and we needed to take into account the economic devastation we’re causing by these draconian quarantines verses the limited good they are doing.

We now have enough data to show that the CDC greatly overestimated the lethality of this illness.   The national data coming in shows very little difference in mortality between those jurisdictions with strict quarantine measures and those with balanced economic measures.  However, every day that goes by under the strict quarantine rules businesses are dying and they won’t be coming back.

Breaking news: It’s been reported that doctors are being encouraged to label every questionable cause of death, whether it was a flu or similar illness, as a COVIDs death because this helps with the bailout money.

You Won’t Believe the Price of Oil

by Jack

-$37.63…. no, that’s not $37.63 per barrel, that’s negative $37.63 per barrel!  Can you believe it?  That was the price as of yesterday.

We’ve apparently run out of places to store oil.  Yesterday was also the due date for April options and that meant either take delivery of what you bought on the margin or sell at whatever the price happens to be.  In this case the price to unload your oil commodity went negative….really negative, an unprecedented negative.

This is a historic moment for the oil industry.  We’ve simply never seen such a  catastrophic price plunge before and likely we never see it again.

What does it mean for pump prices here?  Well, there’s a bit of lag time before it’s really going to be felt but it’s safe to say pump prices will drop dramatically very soon.   However, right now the best price on a gallon of gasoline is in Wisconsin.  It will cost you about $1.19, but, in California, because of our special fuel formulation and gas taxes, a gallon is still hanging up there at $2.77 on average.

We’re paying the 2nd highest in the nation, right behind Hawaii.   Considering CA is an oil producing state with huge refineries, that seems almost criminal.  But, the sheeple in this state keep electing the crooks and fools that dominate Sacramento.

Most of the Midwest states are priced about a $1.50.  So if you don’t like to pay nearly twice the national average for a tank of gas…thank the CA democrats, they stuck it to you.

Did Obama Send Wuhan Lab $3.7M????

Thanks for to Harold for this one – what do you think?  I haven’t heard too much and neither has Harold, but we thought you might like to take a look and offer some comments.

This came from the Daily Mail:

REVEALED: U.S. government gave $3.7million grant to Wuhan lab at center of coronavirus leak scrutiny that was performing experiments on bats from the caves where the disease is believed to have originated

  • The US National Institutes of Health, a government agency, awarded a $3.7million research grant to the Wuhan Institute of Virology
  • The lab is the center of several conspiracy theories that suggest it is the original source of the coronavirus outbreak
  • The institute experimented on bats from the source of the coronavirus
  • They were captured more than 1,000 miles away in Yunnan
  • Sequencing of the Covid-19 genome has traced it to bats to Yunnan’s caves
  • The U.S. government funded research on coronavirus transmission in the lab over the past decade

Conservative Council Members Targeted for Attack

by Jack

  • Two downtown business attacked, windows smashed property stolen
  • Large banner opposing free needle program stolen

First it was Casey Reynolds ice cream parlor that was attacked.  Her large plate glass front window was smashed out.  Now Ann Schwab’s bicycle business had their front window smashed and bike items stolen.  Oddly, none of the other businesses in the downtown have been attacked.  What’s the connection between these two businesses?  They just happen to be owned by the city council members that have opposed the crazy agenda of liberals, Ory, Stone, Brown and Huber, known as the Filthy Four.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe the “Filthy Four” were directly behind these attacks.  However,  I do suspect there is a connection between their council activities (support for bums and junkies) and a few of the radicals who support them.

A few days ago a billboard south of Chico was damaged and the banner against the needle giveaway program was stolen.  This was a felony too because the loss was over $1000.  makes you wonder what’s next?

IT’S AN OLD PATTERN OF BAD CONDUCT – When I was the Chair of the Butte County Republican Party years back we were the subject of many threats.  One night a group of jeering drunks spilled out of the bar across the street (Duffy’s) and yelled obscenities and politically related insults at me.  They acted like they were going to rush me when I closed up for the evening.  Several days later, in the afternoon, a lady threw dog poop at our literature rack before she ran away.  That year we had a lot of election signs damaged or stolen too.   This gang of rabid liberals have a long history of pushing hate and violence around Chico.  They are relatively few in number, but they are highly motivated and active.  So far they’ve always gotten away with it too.  I don’t understand how responsible democrats could allow themselves to be in any way connected to such vile people.

Another Tale of the Filthy Four

by Jack

The filthy four on the Chico City Council have laid down the law for police, basically saying hands off the bums and junkies and by all means, don’t mess with their illegal camping sites on City property, you might trip over some stolen property.

That means in effect:  Don’t cite them for camping wherever they please.  Don’t arrest them for narcotics or narcotic paraphernalia.  Don’t check their ID’s, you might find a  warrant for their arrest.   Don’t investigate for stolen property at all those illegal encampments knee deep in bike parts.  Don’t bother responding to noise, trash or pollution complaints, if it involves this special group.  Don’t bother them for sleeping at bus stop enclosures.  Don’t bust them for being drunk or passed out on the sidewalk. Avoid arresting them if possible, but cite if you must and then release them.

DO… go out of your way to make them feel at home – we suggest you buy em a burger.  Do,  look the other way, if they are pushing a stolen shopping cart.  Do, direct them to all the places around Chico for free food, free meals, free clothing, free healthcare and free shelter.  Do, let them  sleep on the lawn at city hall, this is good for our liberal image!  Do, let them wash their laundry in the city fountains.  Do, ignore the calls from citizens about noise, drunken, rowdy behavior, littering and pollution.   (see pic at right – bike parts litter the area of Lindo Channel near Arbutus)

By order of the filthy four, your radical liberal council members.  Carl Ory, Alex Brown, Scot Huber and Randall Stone.  But, don’t go yet…there’s more!

See left -Illegal camp site next to Lindo Channel. 4/18/20. Note two stolen shopping carts at this site.

At the last city council meeting, Chief Obrien (who serves at the whim of the filthy four),  was forced to described how his officers have been compassionate to the bums and junkies taking over Chico. More bums and junkies arrive every day, so its a tough job to keep up with their compassionate efforts.

Instead of fighting crime and enforcing the law, officers have been redirected to work closely with service providers and the city’s new Homeless Solutions Coordinator to serve and protect the health and safety of Chico’s exploding bum population.  Of course this is done now under the pretext of stopping the spread of the Corona virus, that hasn’t really done anything in Chico yet.

The chief went into great detail about the discretion being used by the Target Team that at one time effectively stopped a lot of crime, especially thefts from vehicles in downtown where the bums hang out.  Chief Obrien noted that not a single camping citation has been issued in over eight months!  Oh goody, the Filthy Four must have been so pleased, but they needed more, much more.  Which is why they passed the Brown New Deal in an emergency session.

Chico resident Teri Dubose, said, “… these out-of-touch council members are using this pandemic to begin enacting the highly controversial Brown New Deal (1) at a time when the public is restricted from having a voice at council meetings. They made no attempt to describe why this non-agendized ordinance required emergency action – and city staff made no attempt to rein in the council.”

  1.  The Brown New Deal allows bums to camp in green zones around the City of Chico. One of these trash laden, needle strewn camps could be next to your home or your kids playground.  Guess we can take down all these city signs now, because camping, dumping trash, the piles of stolen bikes, all the stolen shopping carts, its all ok now, if you are a bum or junkie.
  2.  Brand new shopping cart shown below ($300 cost) found at bum camp on Lindo Channel behind S&S Produce.  6 other carts were nearby, several were from Sav-Mor and another nice newer one was from Safeway.   That’s about $1800 worth of stolen shopping carts in a 1 block area, not to mention all the bike parts we found in the grass and near camps.

China Lied to the World

Posted by Jack

(CNN) China has revised its official death toll from the novel coronavirus, raising the number of fatalities attributed to the pandemic by more than a third.

Officials in Wuhan, where the virus was first reported late last year, on Friday added 1,290 coronavirus deaths to the city’s toll. They also added 325 confirmed cases to the city tally.

The total number of cases recorded in the city now stands at 50,333, with 3,869 deaths.

The previous reported death toll for Wuhan was 2,579 — so the revised figure marks a 50% increase in the number of deaths in the city from coronavirus. As of April 17, China’s National Health Commission had reported 3,342 deaths nationally, before the revised Wuhan figures were published.

Chinese officials quarantined the City of Wuhan into complete isolation closing roads, bridges and highways, but continued to let international flights in and out for another week, before closing the airport.  We now know China delayed notifying the world for 6 days after the virus was detected.

Remember this?

“Chad Wolf, the acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, accused Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi of “grossly inaccurate and irresponsible” rhetoric for claiming that the administration’s updated travel ban affects 350 million people.

And from Forbes Magazine, “Why Travel Bans Don’t Work”

by Judy Stone,  I am an Infectious Disease specialist and author of Resilience: One Family’s Story of Hope and Triumph over Evil and of Conducting Clinical Research, the essential guide to the topic.

FRANCE-CHINA-HEALTH-VIRUS-AVIATION-REPATRIATION

Passengers look on from a vehicle containing French citizens after their evacuation from the Chinese …

The decision to impose a severe travel ban and mandatory quarantines in response to the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) flies in the face of public health recommendations, including those from the recent Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security’s “Event 201” pandemic preparedness exercise.

Instead, it appears to be a response to xenophobia from the right wing, as Megan Thielkin noted in Stat.

What we have learned this week argues against these restrictions. The biggest reason is that we now know fairly certainly from the cases in Germany that the virus can be spread before someone has symptoms. In plain terms, “the cat’s out of the bag.” Millions of people have been traveling internationally without any symptoms, or very mild ones they didn’t recognize as significant, before the epidemic was recognized.

VIRUS-CRISUS

by Jack

The good news is, it appears the Corona virus has peaked in a majority of the states.  Of course some states will continue to experience a rise in infections for a short time, but on the whole… we’re getting well, so say our good doctors.

That’s the good news!  The bad news is, what we’ve done to our economy.  What happens after this “virus-crisus” is over?   The pandemic has opened a virtual Pandora’s box of costly things to be dealt with in the near future, not the least of which is a growing dependence on big government.

As always, the democrats took this pandemic crisis as a golden opportunity to spend vast sums of money on things that were important to them, but not necessarily important to the nation.   This spending advanced their agenda for more power, more control and more government, but at the cost of nearly ruining our gross national product.

To avoid the pain from layoffs and temporary business closures, government printed up 2.2 trillion in paper money…that’s pure debt.  Eventually it will be passed along to the next generation because we’ll not live long enough to pay it off.

Because of similar spending around the world we have profoundly damaged our complex business paradigm in ways that could take decades to sort out.  This plays into China’s long term goals, but undercuts America’s.   We’ve been heading to the left for decades, but now thanks to the COVIDS virus the left is sprinting to the finish line to cheers of our citizens who want government to take care of them more than they want the freedom to run their own lives.

They’ve got the basics to survive, they’ve been rewarded with welfare safety nets, bailout money and if they need more money, government will just print more.  This is how socialism works and apparently at least half the nation approves.  Maybe we should be grateful to China for this virus, look at all the free stuff its brought?

Socialism makes a lot of promises.  Life will be less risky with all the so-called free stuff, like free education, free healthcare and more.  However, just understand that we can’t endow government with so much power without the people in power abusing it.   This human nature and history says I’m right.   Look at how the Mayor of Los Angeles abused his power during the quarantine,  ready to bust citizens for minor infractions like swimming at the beach.  And to enforce the new draconian rules special snitch lines to rat out your neighbors have been created.  This was unthinkable a few months ago.  Just show you how fragile our freedoms really are.

As government grows we must adjust to having a little less of everything, it can be no other way.   As the needs of the state get larger your needs get smaller.  History has proven this is how it works, time after time.  Ronald Reagan underscored this truism when he said, “Freedom is never more than a generation away from extinction.”
