Here’s a great game for everyone but it’s really great for all of you Bush bashers out there. It’s a safe and fun way to work out those last drops of hate and frustration before starting a new year. Go ahead…knock yourselves out!

Humbuggers at the UN…BAH!

A UN-Approved Christmas Dinner, by Ralph R. Reiland The American Spectator

** The year-end news isn’t pretty. The dictatorship-dominated United Nations has its eye on our Christmas hams as a key source of allegedly man-made global warming and planetary suicide. *** To control our carbon footprint, says Dr. Pachauri, we should “reduce meat consumption.” A good world-saving lunch would be an internationally sanctioned broccoli burger, minus the cheese, unless we can find some zero-emitting heifers or develop some kind of methane-capturing cow diapers. **

Poll Results

Posted by Jack

Our poll this week, “Should legislators take a pay cut?”, was asked because so many people in the private sector are being forced to take pay cuts, some are subjected to lay-offs and some may even face foreclosures. Meanwhile, our legislature is now the highest paid in the nation and they have been growing welfare and shoving us down the road to socialism while bankrupting the state treasury. They are seeking tax increases in the middle of a recession when economists say this is the exact opposite of what they should be doing!

The poll showed about 99% in favor of cutting their pay so they feel some of our pain.

The second poll question asked, “Should legislators buy American made cars with their car allowance?” This question was asked in the backdrop of Detroit’s woes, where GM and Chrysler are facing ruin and we just ponied up 17 billion in bailout money to keep them going for a few more months.

About 98% of the responders said yes, they should buy an American made car with our tax money.

I apologize for the slow performance of the poll, in the future we will use another poll website.

75 Year Old Ponzi Scheme

A Scheme With No Off Button, by Otis A. Glazebrook IV American Thinker

** Ever wonder why the New York Times can report on a Ponzi scheme in the private sector and be totally oblivious to the Ponzi scheme that the U.S. Government has been running right under the Gray Lady’s nose for seventy-five years? This hustle is called “Social Security.” *** In an article about the Bernie Madoff scandal and Ponzi schemes in general, Catherine Rampell makes it clear that she understands the basics. Her article is entitled “A Scheme With No Off Button”: “Mathematically speaking, Ponzi schemes are doomed. They work by bringing in new investors to pay off old ones. In pure form, there’s never any actual business activity; the money just rolls backward from ever-increasing numbers of investors to keep up the appearance of profits. This means the scheme requires an infinite supply of new suckers.” *** This is also an accurate description of Social Security — though no one at the Times seems to be aware of that fact. **

Social Security is MANDATORY…that means we’re still suckers but with a gun to our heads!

Dueling Egos Hillary Sets the Stage

Posted by Tina

** The New York Times reports on high hopes of Hillary Clinton: Even before taking office, Hillary Rodham Clinton is seeking to build a more powerful State Department, with a bigger budget, high-profile special envoys to trouble spots and an expanded role in dealing with global economic issues at a time of crisis. *** Bigger stars, bigger budget – this sounds like some showbiz impresarios blueprint to steal the spotlight from the competition. And it is. Hillary Clinton wants a dazzling State Department that will compete with the White House All-Star Cabinet Revue. Commentary Magazine ** (emphasis mine)

Here Come the Hillary Years, by Abe Greenwald

Caterpillar Cuts Compensation

Posted by Jack

Caterpillar said executive compensation will decrease up to 50%, compensation for senior managers will be reduced 5% to 35% and other management and support staff will see a reduction between 0% and 15%. Caterpillar did not provide specifics on how much the reductions will save the company.

Additionally, Caterpillar has instituted a hiring freeze and said that it is also offering U.S.-based management and support employees an incentive-based voluntary separation program.

The news is an indication of just how far things have fallen lately. Back in July, Peoria, Ill.-based Caterpillar reported record profits and said it was “producing as much as it can.”

Watts Across the Pond Heroically Diligent

Posted by Tina

Facts melted by ‘global warming’, by Christopher Booker _ Telegraph (UK)

** Last weekend, that heroically diligent US meteorologist Anthony Watts noticed that something very odd had happened to the daily updated graph on the official Nansen website that shows how much sea-ice there is in the Arctic. Without explanation, as he reported on his Watts Up With That website, half a million square kilometres of ice simply vanished overnight. *** This might have brought cheer to all those, such as Al Gore and the BBC, who have been obsessively telling us that the Arctic ice will soon disappear altogether. They were dismayed enough last winter when, after reaching its lowest point in 30 years, the ice bounded back to near “normal”. This winter the freeze has been even faster and greater, making the extent of the ice, according to the other main Arctic website, Crysophere Today, 500,000 sq km greater than this time last year. How better to maintain the chosen narrative than to lose that half-million square kilometres simply by “adjusting” the graph downwards? **

Protesters wreak havoc at S.F. mall, by Elizabeth Fernandez, S.F. Chronicle

** A band of demonstrators, many wearing black masks, stormed a bustling San Francisco mall Saturday evening, upending garbage cans and foliage and damaging crystal merchandise at one kiosk. An estimated 50 to 75 people were involved in the disruption at Westfield San Francisco Centre, police said. *** According to mall management, the protesters were part of a ”Solidarity with Greek Uprising” demonstration. **
