Are you getting what you pay for at the pumps? A CBS news investigation says no, and about 20% of the pumps short you! Among the worst states for calibrating the gas pumps is Arizona and Texas. Az. does their state calibration only once every 3 years! For a high volume gas station a small shortage of less than a penny per gallon could easily mean another $50k at the end of the year.

Bush lied, people died. Is there anyone in the world that hasnt heard this dishonorable anti-war slogan? Is there an enemy around the world that hasnt been gratified and encouraged by these four words? The words are little more than a slogan, yet they have had the power to create doubt and uncertainty for Americans and for others around the world who look to us for leadership and help. They send a message of doubt and distrust about our president and create a conflicting message about a war that George Bush has repeatedly said was key in the greater fight against terrorism worldwide.
Creating doubt was in fact the intent of anti-war democrats and it has become the legacy of the Democrat Party during the Bush years.

Over a thousand professional protestors were bused in from various radical pro-communist, anti-American groups from across the country. They represented a myriad of political agendas from open borders to anarchy. Anti-war was of course the false pretext that brought them all together once again.
“Re-create 68″ and other protest groups said months ago they would occupy Civic Center in violation of the host committee permit. Re-create 68’s Larry Hales says early threats to take Civic Center were meant to start a dialogue. It started a dialog alright, and the police said they would not have a repeat of the 1968 DNC that sparked so much anarchy and violence.
The police were not in the mood to hear, “No cops, no KKK, no fascist USA!” “No cops, no KKK, no fascist USA!” “No cops, no KKK, no fascist USA!” …a chant that lasted all the way to the Pepsi Center for their rally. The cops kept a close watch on the crowd and were fully prepared to stop anyone crossing the line to incite a riot.
Of course Cindy Sheehan showed up trying to get support for her election bid. Sheehan addressed a small group of supporters when she said, “”Neither Republicans nor Democrats represent the people.” “They’ve taken away more of our freedoms. It’s now easier to spy on us. ” “This convention is sponsored by AT&T. What does that tell you?” she said to wild cheers. It tells me that AT&T paid the City of Denver for the rights to advertise their name at the convention center, what else? Sheenhan goes on to shout, “Denver has partnered with the Democrats to create a fascist police state. Now we have free speech in cages. We are not animals!” Free speech in cages, huh? I think she’s on crack. Anyway to summarize her 30 minute fist pounding tirade she said some other incredibly stupid and incomprehensible things before her audiance of mostly bums and winos wandered off to drink or beg for some spare change.

Section 594 of the National Defense Authorization Act, which was signed into law as Public Law 110-181 on Jan. 28, allows veterans out of uniform to salute the flag.
Section 9 of Title 4, United States Code, was amended by striking “all persons present” and all that follows through the end of the section, and inserted the following: “All persons present in uniform should render the military salute. Members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may render the military salute. All other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over their heart, or if applicable, remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Citizens of other countries who are present should stand at attention. All such conduct toward the flag in a moving column should be rendered at the moment the flag passes.”

On Wednesday, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger offered a “compromise” plan that kicks the legs out from his own party with a big new sales tax increase. “It’s time to put ideology aside,” he insisted. *** Now he faces a revolt from Republicans in the legislature who think this is precisely the time to be ideological. “Any tax increase plan won’t pass with Republican votes — absolutely not,” a defiant Mike Villines, minority leader of the state assembly, told me shortly after the governor’s scheme was announced. Mr. Schwarzenegger wants to raise the sales tax by one percentage point, which in jurisdictions like Los Angeles would raise the total sales levy to 10% — one of the highest in the nation. “It will hurt the state and hurt people on fixed incomes,” Mr. Villines protests. *** He and his colleagues offer their own solution. First, no new taxes in a state that already has nearly the highest income and sales tax burden in the country. Second, a “hard” budget cap that limits spending increases to the rate of inflation plus population growth.
