Should American Citizens Have Their Passports Pulled for Joining ISIS?

by Jack

According to recent news reports at least 100 people from the USA have joined ISIS, another 500 from Great Britain have joined ISIS.

In this country of 350 million you will have no trouble finding 100 crazy, stupid or evil fanatics. So, I guess it says something that only 100 A.H.’s from the USA have decided to join up with genocidal ISIS maniacs. Their rash decision gives us an opportunity to slam the door on their return. We could bar them from ever returning to the USA and if they do the could be arrested and imprisoned for life. First, we need to do is pull their passports under authority of 18 U.S.C. ch. 37 (18 U.S.C. § 792 et seq.) Americans or immigrants holding a green card are breaking the law if they aid or abet terrorists or foreign governments in any way that may pose a threat to our national security. Personally I would like to deny such people re-entry to the USA or arrest them if they try to sneak back.

Question for you: Should American Citizens have their passports revoked for joining ISIS? What else should we do? (Great Britain is doing this right now for their citizens and they are about to seize their bank accounts to prevent them access to financial aid.)

  1. Tina says:

    Yes, absolutely!

  2. Harold says:

Hell yes, but with the borders as open as they are, they’ll find a way back in.

    • Post Scripts says:

Porous borders are a problem, but Plan B would involve an arrest warrant and that might give them pause. It’s estimated based on witnesses in Mexico and debris left behind at campsites, that we have at least 400 persons from Arab countries that have sneaked in. If we are aware of this number, in reality it’s probably many times that. Of course we have no idea of their intent, but the fact that mid-east people are choosing to use the backdoor and sneak in ought to raise some concern about their motives.

    YES!!

    ———

From Archbishop Nona, the Chaldean Catholic archbishop of Mosul, Iraq. He issues a warning so strong and alarming that I want you to read it here, too.

Archbishop Nona was interviewed shortly after fleeing Mosul with thousands of other Christians. When ISIS captured Mosul (with over 1.5 million people, it’s the second largest city in Iraq) they offered the Christians a choice: convert to Islam, leave the city and their homes, or die. Thousands fled, many died. Some were actually crucified.

In fact, on June 15 no Christian services were conducted in Mosul for the first time in 1,600 years!

The Archbishop told the world: “Our sufferings today are the prelude of those that you, Europeans and Western Christians, will also suffer in the near future…. Your liberal and democratic principles are worth nothing here. You must consider again our reality in the Middle East, because you are welcoming in your countries an ever-growing number of Muslims…. Islam does not say that all men are equal. Your values are not their values. If you do not understand this soon enough, you will become the victims of the enemy you have welcomed into your home.”

    Strong words, but prophetic words.

What makes all of this even more chilling is that there are thousands of European, British, Australian, and American citizens fighting for ISIS in Iraq and Syria. All of these battle-hardened jihadis carry passports that will allow them to easily return to their home countries or enter the United States.

Make no mistake, jihad will someday come home to Europe and America, just as Archbishop Nona has warned.

    Maybe sooner than we think.

Of course. Wait, are we not already doing this?

    Jihad Watch July 2014:

“It’s something that gives us really extreme, extreme concern,” said Holder. “In some ways, it’s more frightening than anything I think I’ve seen as attorney general.” And yet Holder and the rest of the Obama Administration have aided and abetted the prohibition of any serious study of the ideology motivating such people. He should be frightened, because if these jihadis do strike in the U.S., Holder will bear a significant portion of the responsibility.

Note the jihad flag hung prominently in the mosque in the photo. Yet we are constantly told that what the Islamic State and other jihadis do has nothing to do with Islam. Somehow those in this mosque have misunderstood Islam. This cognitive dissonance impedes counter-terror efforts. There is no way we can defeat an enemy we refuse to understand.

“More Western fighters joining militants in Iraq and Syria,” by Brian Bennett and Richard A. Serrano, Los Angeles Times, July 19, 2014:

Thousands of foreign fighters have bolstered the ranks of militant groups in Syria and Iraq in recent months, according to U.S. officials, driving fresh concern about potential terrorist plots aimed at the United States or its allies.

The surge, as well as intelligence that Yemeni terrorists have developed a powerful cellphone bomb designed to avoid detection at airports, is behind the Obama administration’s increasingly urgent warnings that a European or American passport holder might try to take down a passenger jet or plan other deadly mayhem.

As many as 10,000 foreign fighters — a third more than in February — have joined the militias seeking to overthrow Syrian President Bashar Assad and the Islamic State fighters who have swept across northern Iraq, said a counter-terrorism official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss classified assessments.

As many as 3,000 of them hold European or other Western passports and thus can travel easily across most borders. Several dozen, perhaps as many as 100, hold U.S. passports, and officials say that number is growing.

The potential partnership between some of those Westerners and sophisticated bomb makers from the Yemen-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, long viewed as the terrorist network’s most dangerous offshoot, has raised alarm in Washington and other capitals.

“It’s something that gives us really extreme, extreme concern,” Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. told ABC News last week. “In some ways, it’s more frightening than anything I think I’ve seen as attorney general.”

FBI Director James B. Comey told reporters in Washington that the threat “keeps me up at night.” He sees the region as a “launching ground” for potential Sept. 11-style mass-casualty attacks in this country….

I couldn’t find anything in web news indicating we are already doing this…anybody else?

  6. Dewey says:

Not sure exactly everything that happens but once on the International Terrorist watch list I am sure your passport is no more than a ticket to detention in any Allied Country.

  7. Post Scripts says:

Obama has dropped the ball again, sadly we currently are not pulling passports. Not sure why Obama would want to stall this very simple and low cost idea to limit terrorism?

  8. Tina says:

None of us are sure, Jack, the most obvious reasons are what’s worrisome. I can think of four possible reasons: 1. He thinks keeping an eye on them gives us the best opportunity to stop them b-4 disaster, 2. He’s a ding-a-ling, 3. He’s still counting on his charm to save the day, 4. He’s sleeping with the enemy. None of these thoughts are of much comfort.

Does anyone have a better explanation?

  9. Harold says:

I am in total agreement with post 8 and 9.

However if, as some have suggested Obamas administration is attending to the problem, maybe they can supply some concrete documentation as to how and when.

But I don’t think there is any real evidence Obama is doing anything other than lip service, wait that evidence might have been lost accidently along with the back up files of Lois Lerner as well.

Oh Well America, it is what it is!

Maybe when ALL Government is directed to fly commercial we’ll see something that does resemble attention to this question and if it is or isn’t being being implemented and administrated by the Feds.

After all, seems the main growth of our dwindling economy is in new Government positions,(that’s a major economy grower)shouldn’t we then have at least one person responsible for our country’s safety working in DC? God knows were paying(and praying) for it to happen
