Texas Boom – California Doom and Gloom

Posted by Tina

According to CNS News, the economy in Texas is booming while in the Democrat controlled state of California there’s nothing but gloom and doom:

(CNSNews.com) – Texas, the nation’s second most populous state, had the fastest growing economy in the nation in the first quarter of this year with its state GDP growing at a real annual rate of 3.9 percent, according to data released today by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

By contrast, California, the nation’s most populous state, ranked 42nd out of 50 states for first quarter economic growth, with its GDP growing at a real annual rate of just 0.1 percent. …

… The Texas economy, according to BEA, was driven up by a boom in the mining sector and by a large increase in manufacturing. California’s economy was dragged down by the arts, entertainment and recreation; finance and insurance; retail trade; and agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting.

California used to be a powerhouse of economic activity and opportunity in all of those failing areas…and in the service oriented businesses that grew in support of them.

Way to go Dems!

Texas, Florida, Alaska, Washington, Nevada, South Dakota & Wyoming do not have state income taxes. New Hampshire and Tennessee only tax dividend and interest income.
Leaving Taxifornia would give one about a 12% increase in earnings that Taxifornia now grabs – and that doesn’t count the morass of taxes and fees on businesses, property sales and DMV charges.
Those moving vans are still taking more folks outta Taxifornia than wage earners coming in. And with Demwits remaining in charge in the Legislature, it’ll just get worse.

If you do leave, make sure you take all of your bank accounts OUT of Taxifornia as there are provisions in many of the laws that give DMV and the Franchise Tax Board the power to confiscate $$ in your Taxifornia accounts if they believe you owe them – whether you agree or not!

      Good advice J…

The individual states make good laboratories. We can see the policies that work for the people. We can see the policies that serve the interests of slackers. California is a magnate for non-producers. Stupid is as stupid does.

Interesting that the policies that work for the interest of slackers also work to make big government bigger in Cali. California is no friend to the average citizen. But big lefty companies find a home here since they keep so much of their cash off shore to avoid the tax and have been able to hire foreigners at low wages. Big Hollywood has not been so fortunate…even with subsidies. Is it any wonder people are bailing out to move to friendlier, more welcoming states.

  2. Libby says:

Says you … of the Alternate Reality Right, ARR for short.

And you know, you can leave anytime. I did for a while … spent 8 months in and around Eugene last year … had a high old time … but the only work I could get were some very short hours at JoAnn’s. So, when the money ran out, I had to come back … and was at work full-time in a week.

But you retirees, what do you care? You can take your pensions anywhere … so why not? The thing is, how would you maintain your sense of persecution and alienation (which I suspect you rather enjoy) in Idaho?

    • Tina says:

“and was at work full-time in a week. ”

You who once &itched and complained about going from job to job in this state.

“But you retirees, what do you care?”

Whataya mean! We’ve been telling you how to create a robust economy for everyone from the start.

“You can take your pensions anywhere…”

Aren’t you near retirement age? Libby, have you planned for your future or have you been winging it for forty-five years and hoping for the best?

“… how would you maintain your sense of persecution and alienation”

I’m in good company within the conservative sphere and our growing influence.

” (which I suspect you rather enjoy)”

Or is it that you progressives engage in a toxic game of agitation and targeting and enjoy persecuting others in order to alienate and destroy?

I remind our readers of Alinsky’s 12 Rules for Radicals, particularly #12 in the lefty progressive playbook:

      12. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.“ Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

Tina, you cant help a liberal to understand,
They will ride their idiotically horse long after it has died under them…
that’s “Stupid Horse Intellectually Terminal ” or $HIT for short

      • Libby says:

Me.: “and was at work full-time in a week. ”

Tina: “You who once &itched and complained about going from job to job in this state.”

Rebuttal: Many jobs (California) is infinitely preferable to no job (Oregon).

Me: “But you retirees, what do you care?”

Tina Whataya mean! We’ve been telling you how to create a robust economy for everyone from the start.

Rebuttal: As usual, you are missing the point. You don’t need a robust economy. You are pensioned, and can go anywhere. So, if you’re so miserable, and you don’t do anything about it, something else must be going on.

Me: “You can take your pensions anywhere…”

Tina: Aren’t you near retirement age? Libby, have you planned for your future or have you been winging it for forty-five years and hoping for the best?

Rebuttal: See above. Such crass insinuations are by no means effective distractions.

Me: “… how would you maintain your sense of persecution and alienation”

Tina: I’m in good company within the conservative sphere and our growing influence.

Rebuttal: I appreciate you confirming my assessment of your psychological state.

Me: “(which I suspect you rather enjoy)”

Tina: Or is it that you progressives engage in a toxic game of agitation and targeting and enjoy persecuting others in order to alienate and destroy?

Rebuttal: Again, I appreciate you confirming my assessment of your psychological state, and your intention to do nothing at all to remediate it. You really should reconsider. Cut the cable and move to Idaho … just for a couple of months … just to see what it does to your psyche.

(Very, very, slow day in the office, so I’m playing “Plaintiff’s Response to Defendant’s Interrogatories, Set One.”)

    • Joe says:

So, when the money ran out, I had to come back … and was at work full-time in a week.

Libster, what exactly was your full-time work? Professional trouble maker?

  3. RHT447 says:

Yuppers. Here in the DFW area, my last fillup (Costco) was $1.86/gal. The contract I shopped for with Reliant for electric power—First 1000 Kwh is $47.00. Each additional 1000 Kwh is $7.00. Delivery and tax add about $50/month. Vehicle registration (including required annual safety inspection) is a flat rate cost of $77.

I’ve watched those DIY shows out of Texas. Homes and property are quite more than reasonable as well.

It’s not easy for anyone to leave a place they’ve called home for most of their lives but when push comes to shove…

In California it’s “deplorable” that our public servants are the ones doing the shoving.

      • RHT447 says:

Hear, hear. We did not leave Kalifornia, it left us. Other than the military, this is the first time in my life I have resided outside of California. The costs I mentioned above certainly are a huge improvement over what we used to pay. That said, is Texas perfect? No. Are there challenges and headaches? Sure. Are there idiots and morons to put up with? Yup. There is no free lunch, and we did not expect one. The big difference is we get to choose.

  4. Peggy says:

About half of my retired friends and coworkers have moved out of state. Most to the Reno, Carson City area. One to Texas. Another who works in the political system has moved to Reno and commutes to Sacramento or works from home.

I’d been told it’s about a 20% increase in retirement income when all savings are factored in for retirees.

If my son and grandkids weren’t just a mile away I’d be in Reno where my brother is. If my son moves away I’m headed for Reno.

  5. Peggy says:

Conservatives are on the move. One young couple found a need and filled it. After only eight days of setting up their website over one thousand have signed up. They help with real estate at both ends, moving, finding jobs and good schools.

“Paul Chabot, founder of conservativemove.com, is helping conservative families in blue states relocate to more conservative states such as Texas.  But the FOX Business Network’s Stuart Varney, said he disapproved, asking Chabot, “The Republicans, how are they ever going to win in a place like California or New York state, if all the conservatives move to Texas where they’re already winning?”
