On the Healthcare Front

Posted by Tina

Another union leader has declared that if Obamacare can’t be fixed it should be repealed:

President of the Laborers’ International Union of North America Terry O’Sullivan emphatically stated if Obamacare cannot be fixed it needs to be repealed Wednesday at an AFL-CIO convention in Los Angeles.

O’Sullivan warned health insurance plans for organized labor are “under siege” and it will be a “big fricken deal if our members lose our health insurance.”

Despite White House opposition, the AFL-CIO passed the resolution calling Obamacare “highly disruptive” to union health plans.

There is no way to fix Obamacare to appease the unions without giving them special privileges that won’t apply to all Americans. This is one of the many the problems with this big government solution to healthcare. One size does not fit all but with big time government regulation we are trying to fit lots of square pegs into round holes and driving the cost and inconvenience up in the process.

Free market solutions work better. News from the same publication, The Washington free Beacon, reveals that Bush’s Medicare Part D plan, written so that it utilizes market forces, IS WORKING:

The American Action Forum released a report Thursday finding the Medicare Part D program has been successful in its first ten years, with significantly lower government expenditures than projected, low beneficiary costs, and high customer satisfaction, according to an AAF release.

The success of Part D over the past decade makes it a model for future entitlement reforms, the report reads:

The Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit has been an unmitigated success. A market-based approach to further federal entitlement program offers additional opportunities for controlling taxpayer costs and generating high levels of beneficiary satisfaction.

The free market works to keep costs down. The free market creates competition and jobs.

Our healthcare and social security systems would work better with the governments role cut way back to oversight using simple, succinct regulation that everybody understands.

October first the Trainwreck begins in earnest. Next years healthcare will be such an unnecessary unholy mess…keep calling, faxing, emailing, tweeting…we the people are the power IF we turn the key!

Schooling Presidents Putin and Obama

Obama and PutinPosted by Tina

President Vladimir Putin spoke directly to the American people today in a letter published in the New York Times. The letter demonstrates leadership and the fact that he has trumped President Obama on the world stage. Speaking diplomatically he managed to shake his finger at America while assuming for himself (Russia) the mantle of peaceful negotiator. His appeal is quite compelling but ended with a lie unfortunately delivered first by our own President:

My working and personal relationship with President Obama is marked by growing trust. I appreciate this. I carefully studied his address to the nation on Tuesday. And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal. (emphasis mine)

It’s a shame that the man who represents America to the world is not grounded in the principles that have made America exceptional; principles that when contrasted with the governance of despots, tyrants, dictators, and kings stands out as both valuable and unique. Last Tuesday evening President Obama did indeed make the following unfortunate statement in his address to the nation:

America is not the world’s policeman. Terrible things happen across the globe, and it is beyond our means to right every wrong. But when, with modest effort and risk, we can stop children from being gassed to death, and thereby make our own children safer over the long run, I believe we should act. That’s what makes America different. That’s what makes us exceptional. With humility, but with resolve, let us never lose sight of that essential truth.

President’s are called upon to make difficult decisions and it would be foolish to expect every decision and every remark to be perfect. But never before now has a president of the United States wavered…failed so miserably to represent America. Freedom and recognized individual rights (equality) are the principles that have made America the envy of the world…freedom is what has made America “exceptional” in the world.

America has never claimed that her people are more capable or more special as human beings. We have never claimed an egotistical or arrogant brand of exceptionalism. America was founded on the notion that God created all men equal…Putin’s personal record stands in direct conflict with the notion of equality…the people of America need not be lectured on this vital principle.

It is unfortunate that we have elected and then re-elected a man who does not appreciate or understand something so basic to the fabric of our nation. Our nation’s birth gave human beings for the first time in history the chance to pursue happiness in liberty and through individual effort, individual creativity, individual cooperation and striving for excellence we built a thriving land of opportunity.

God bless America. The world needs the example!

Twelve Years Ago Today

911-5Posted by Tina

George W. Bush Sept 11, 2001 11:14 PM EST

Good evening.

Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts.

The victims were in airplanes or in their offices — secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers. Moms and dads. Friends and neighbors.

Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror.

The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing, have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness and a quiet, unyielding anger.

These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed. Our country is strong. A great people has been moved to defend a great nation.

Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.

America was targeted for attack because we’re the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.

Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature, and we responded with the best of America, with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.

Immediately following the first attack, I implemented our government’s emergency response plans. Our military is powerful, and it’s prepared. Our emergency teams are working in New York City and Washington, D.C., to help with local rescue efforts.

Our first priority is to get help to those who have been injured and to take every precaution to protect our citizens at home and around the world from further attacks.

The functions of our government continue without interruption. Federal agencies in Washington which had to be evacuated today are reopening for essential personnel tonight and will be open for business tomorrow.

Our financial institutions remain strong, and the American economy will be open for business as well.

The search is underway for those who are behind these evil acts. I’ve directed the full resources for our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and bring them to justice. We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.

I appreciate so very much the members of Congress who have joined me in strongly condemning these attacks. And on behalf of the American people, I thank the many world leaders who have called to offer their condolences and assistance.

America and our friends and allies join with all those who want peace and security in the world and we stand together to win the war against terrorism.

Tonight I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me.”

This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time.

None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.

Thank you. Good night and God bless America.

Given all that is going on in the world I thought we needed a reminder.

Prisons or Schools?

by Jack

prisoner45The Calif. Teachers Association radio ad opens with, “Governor Brown is proposing spending on prisons that could educate 86,000 children (if it was spent on building new schools instead). ”

Well, I have just a few questions for the CTA. First, by educate do you mean turning out a product that rank in the bottom 5% of the nation? Or does educated translate to union job protection for a top heavy school system?

And what does it mean if those prison facilities aren’t built? Does it mean that fewer of us, including children, won’t be around… because we’re dead? What’s saving one life worth this time? Oh, wait, that only pertains to spending on gun control. When it’s a choice between spending on a bastion of liberalism (public schools) or protecting the public from harm, the choice becomes very clear…build more government jobs, er, schools!

Well, I grant you, it’s a heck of a choice when you can either spend on education or spend on prisons, but you can’t do both and do either one any justice. But, that’s the corner the liberals of California have backed us into through decades of irresponsible spending. It took a world class recession to expose this reckless squandering of tax dollars, but despite some temporary cuts here and nothing’ has really has changed. Sacramento is poised to resume spending like mad the moment the taxpayers boot is lifted off their necks.

Did you know that during the Great Recession and the subsequent protracted recovery, not one of the 364 State agencies nor the hundreds of boards and committees went out of business…not one! And during this same we have added the train to nowhere that will consume billions of scarce tax dollars.  But, the CTA doesn’t mention that do they?  They love big government.  So, they pick on prison spending because all good liberals also hate to see evil people locked up, even child molesters or serial killers, because evil doesn’t exist in their utopian society or I should say it won’t exist, if you’ll only pony up a few hundred billion more dollars for more schools. The liberals have made it clear, they would rather defund prisons and release predators on California familes, if it empowered their union and protected their wages. Thanks for nothing…again CTA; you better check your own house before you go throwing stones at the governor’s.

The Sun and Earth’s Weather

by Jack

NOAA scientists concluded that there are at least four factors that determined global temperatures. Of course we would expect that green house gases and particulants will have an solarcycle-670effect on weather.   Of these, only a small fraction is due to manmade pollutants, the rest are naturally occurring.   For example, carbon dioxide levels and toxic gases have more to do with volcanic eruptions than any other source, even cow flatuants! And then there’s the Pacific El Niño pattern and the Sun’s activity. Scientists now believe the latter has played the most significant role in climate change, man on the other hand has contributed very little, despite what our critics say.

Four factors that determine global temperatures

1.  Sun solar activity

2.  Carbon dioxide and other green house gases.

3.  El Nino

4.  Volcanic eruptions

The evidence seems to be overwhelming that solar cycle activity directly impacts cycles of warming and cooling on earth. During the period from 1645 to 1715, the sun had almost no visible sunspots and guess what? The earth cooled. This was called the “Maunder Minimum” or “Little Ice Age.” Temperatures dropped by 1.8 to 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit. Conversely high sunspot activity warms the earth, as seen in Solar Cycle 23 shown left.  This picture shows the suns average activity from 1986 thru 2008.

As solar activity increases the Earth warms and so does Mars.

Update:   On August 5, 2013, NASA reported, “The sun’s global magnetic field is about to reverse polarity. This is a sign that Solar Max has arrived . . . The sun’s magnetic field changes polarity approximately every 11 years. It happens at the peak of each solar cycle as the sun’s inner magnetic dynamo re-organizes itself. The coming reversal will mark the midpoint of Solar Cycle 24. Half of ‘Solar Max’ will be behind us, with half yet to come . . . Transitions from one side to another can stir up stormy space weather around our planet.” Read more here: http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2013/05aug_fieldflip/

Syria – Obama’s Support is Dropping Daily

by Jack

Seems like the more Obama says on Syria the more support he loses. His trip to Russian was a diplomatic flop, his outreach to Congress is going badly and predicted to fail. Polling in the American public is completely lopsided against a strike. In Syria they are protesting in the streets against Obama because the people fear if Assad falls they will get something much worse, and evidence to date says they are right. Look anywhere from England to Ohio, Obama is losing everywhere, nobody believes this is a good idea, except perhaps John McCain and Nancy Pelosi. McCain has dropped in his popularity as fast as Rand Paul has gained it. This is one of the weirdest White House flops in American history…it’s embarassingly bad and what’s worse, Obama still doesn’t get it.

Hey, why not make a call to our CA Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein…register your NO…it’s a free call. (202) 224-3841 for Dianne. Boxer’s is (202) 224-3553

Half & Half

Posted by Tina

Howie Carr , Boston Herald:

On the issue of Barack Obama’s management of the so-called Syrian crisis, the American public seems split into two camps.

Half the country believes he’s lying.

The other half believes he doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about.

Is it possible both sides could be right?

Am I re-posting this to poke fun at the man in the big white house in Washington DC?

Yes…yes I am! Something has to be done to awaken our populace before the coming elections. Humor often does the trick.

New Ice Formations Defy Global Warming Claims

Posted by Tina

Climate alarmists have been proven wrong before; this is just the latest example:

A chilly Arctic summer has left nearly a million more square miles of ocean covered with ice than at the same time last year – an increase of 60 per cent.

The rebound from 2012’s record low comes six years after the BBC reported that global warming would leave the Arctic ice-free in summer by 2013.

Instead, days before the annual autumn re-freeze is due to begin, an unbroken ice sheet more than half the size of Europe already stretches from the Canadian islands to Russia’s northern shores. …

…Some eminent scientists now believe the world is heading for a period of cooling that will not end until the middle of this century – a process that would expose computer forecasts of imminent catastrophic warming as dangerously misleading.

The problem with the alarmists is they have managed to frighten entire generations of children who now foolishly believe they have to go jobless, buy expensive alternative vehicles or ride bicycles, and sacrifice living space, heating and air conditioning while their governments collect piles of cash in taxes and pretend to be doing something about it.

Follow the link above to see the contrasting pictures…they’re really cool!

Butte County Should Join the State of Jefferson!

by Jack Lee

Jefferson

It began in earnest just prior to WWII. Siskiyou County declared itself independent and a sovereign state, but then WWII came along and people turned to the business of defending the nation and that ended the brief rebellion against big government.

But with government being bigger than ever, with more rules, more regulations, more freedom robbing laws every which way you turn, people are thinking maybe those rebels up in Siskiyou had the right idea all along? Maybe it is in our best interests to form a new state, free from whims of a heavily populated Southern California that can out vote the north state every time on any issue. There is no balance when that happens, the South can say, it’s our way or the highway.

Today’s editorial says this idea is an attention getting publicity stunt, but I disagree. I think it’s for real or at least it could be!

The State of Jefferson idea should be expanded beyond Siskiyou, to Del Norte, Humboldt, Modoc, Shasta, Trinity, Butte, Glenn, Tehema, Lake, Nevada, Sutter, Yuba, Sierra, Sonoma, Napa, Yolo, Sacramento and Mendocino. We might as well keep the Capital since it’s already built and let SoCal have Los Angeles for their Capital. LA is calling the shots anyway, might as well make it official.

Northerner’s are tired of outsiders telling us what we can and can’t do. As time goes on this situation is only going to get worse. At stake is control over our natural resources and our freedom.

I say it’s time to split the state and restore our common sense Northern values! Let’s break off and form a new state. It’s now or never! The State of Jefferson can become the model of democracy, and not this sorry socialist excuse for what California has become. Berkeley, Oakland San Francisco on down to L.A., keep your socialism and ruin your state all on your own and leave us alone. Let those nut job libs run their state into the ground. Let’s save our half and show the rest of the country what democracy really means. It would be very telling and about as different as Cuba would be sitting next to Hawaii.
