Speaking Bluntly About the Murders of Police

by Jack

The problem of cop shooters deserves our full attention because we can’t let this injustice continue, the risks are too great. When Joseph Wambaugh wrote about the “Thin Blue Line” being our last line of defense, he wasn’t kidding. There are over 360 million people in America and only about 900,000 cops. They operate every day greatly outnumbered, and against a mostly unseen enemy that we could pass on the street and never know it.

For the people that think the police have nothing better to do than harass (black) people, you could not be more wrong. Take a look at the people they encounter and the attitude that comes with it. The police take a lot of abuse for just doing their jobs, which they do exceptionally well. So, rather than focus on that 1/2 of 1 percent that do something wrong and don’t deserve to be cops, why not commend the 98.5% that do a darn good job every day?

Have you ever stopped to think that the traffic stop that is an infraction for us, could turn into a deadly encounter for the cop? They never know. The same holds true for disturbance calls, bank alarms, and for almost everything they do that brings them into contact with the public. There’s a reason they wear a vest and carry a gun folks. Far more cops are killed each year than blacks killed by cops.

I opened this by saying these cop shootings deserve our full attention and now here’s why: It’s about your safety! That rapist on the 5 o’clock news that was just taken down by cops, he might have targeted your wife or daughter next, you never know. That serial killer that sits on death row might have had you in his sights, if the cops didn’t stop him. That’s how life works, you never know what awaits you, but I do know your odds of survival are made infinitely better because of the person who wears the police uniform. But, what about their odds? As good citizens, we have a civic responsibility to do what we can to preserve and protect that thin blue line. At the very least they deserve our respect and a decent salary. They are up against long, tough odds and lately against the organized the forces of hate, as in Black Lives Matter. Remember their New York City chant, “What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want it? Righ now!” They are so irresponsible and dangerous.

But, I wasn’t looking to blame anyone here, my point was to make a rational case for supporting decent police officers. But, hey if you’re looking for blame there’s plenty to go around. For example, it would make more sense to blame absentee black fathers or the negligent black mothers. They’re part of the problem. They’re directly promoting what comes next, and that would be the bad attitudes and the low character of their children who will eventually come into conflict with the police. It would make more sense to focus on the 1 in 3 black males that will go to prison before they turn 30. That takes considerable effort too, because one little mistake won’t do it. The average convict has committed over 30 felonies, only a few of which he was caught for and fewer still he was convicted of.

The cops didn’t create our mess and they can’t fix it …. not alone anyway. Only intelligent, responsible leaders and black parents working with, instead of against, the police can do it. This problem has been years in the making and it will take time to fix it.

Many of us had hoped that President Obama would be the leader to start the process. But, he’s been a huge disappointment. He’s failed to address the pervasive criminal conduct that exists within the black community. Instead, he’s called for reforming the police. Thats just stupid and I’ve had enough of stupid. It’s time for the adults to take over and start fixing things.

And now, EVERY responding officer is going to wonder if this is the call that is a set up for an ambush.

The following is very hard to watch, but it is what every officer contact with the public has the potential to become.

Thank you for sharing RHT447. Every adult American should be made aware of the reality for officers in today’s world, this video does that very well.

I wonder if Sheriff Clarke might re-title it “Lemon-aid”?

Would love to see Michael Ramirez do a cartoon showing Uncle Sam with a fatherly arm across the shoulders of an American citizen, gesturing to CNN’s Don Lemon, with the caption “See? There’s your problem.”.

Heart rending speeches tonight at the convention. David Clarke, Milwaukee County sheriff speaking now. Outstanding.

  3. J. Soden says:

Rudy Giuliani said it best last night. (Paraphrasing) When you call for help, the cops don’t ask what color your are – they come to help
    Was a real barn-burner of a speech!

  4. Harold says:

Now if only Obama would do a daily reminder of the service the people in blue do for the entire populous of America, then we could stop this current insane hated , fueled by his WH week stance on it, other than use it for more gun control.

Makes you think, maybe that is his stance? kill enough people to get the country to follow his misguided goals.

  5. J. Soden says:

Today, in an open letter to police, Obumble claims “we have your backs.”

Perhaps, but based on his on-again, off-again (mostly off) performance since his inauguration, da prez is more likely placing targets there.
