First Debate: Chris Wallace five Stars, candidates, well, uh….

Trump was an interrupting blowhard, Biden an interrupting bloviator. Both were nauseating except I give the smug Biden the blue ribbon for vomitous, boorish tripe. It was the worst presidential debate I have ever seen. Which means, of course, it was the most interesting presidential debate I have ever seen.

Chris Wallace is, certainly, the most outstanding and competent presidential debate interviewer there has ever been and probably ever will be. I admire his tolerance, patience and skill.

The big question for me is will Trump learn from this or will he simply ignore any advisors? Seriously, he could have kept his big fat yap shut and let Biden hang himself on numerous occasions. Shut up, let Biden speak, and then respond to his lies and half baked lunacy.

Both candidates “achieved” but one thing — preaching to their respective choirs.

If even that.

Damn, he makes it tough to want to support him. How can he be such an as…..le and still make all the right moves when it comes to the Supreme Court, the economy, international politics, the bureaucracy, etc.?
Then I think about the destruction of this country if Biden’s puppeteers take control.

So far this year I’ve lost a daughter to cancer, dealt with cancer myself, been ordered to stay home then ordered to leave, and wonder if I’d have a home when I returned. I’ve watched peaceful protesters take control then demolish cities without consequence. I’ve been told I’m a racist by birth and should spend my life trying to atone, even though that’s an impossible task. I’ve watched Nancy, Chucky, and their unholy choir, including the MSM talk to us like we’re idiots.
    Screw you, 2020.
What the hell. I guess I can continue to put up with an obnoxious narcissist in the White House. I’ll just try singing Sweet Caroline as loud as possible whenever he’s speaking.

I thought Chris Wallace bombed as a moderator last night. Papa Wallace is not proud. His political bias has been on full display since he interviewed Ted Cruz in 2016. It’s his mode of operandi to rudely cut off people who he doesn’t agree with. He did it repeatedly to Trump last night, while letting Biden speak freely. He should be banned from participation in all future debates.

CW knew his question at the beginning about Trump’s $750 tax would put Trump on defense and piss him off even more when CW stopped him from countering with Hunter’s $billions from China and $millions from the Moscow mayor’s wife. Even a novice journalist would question why a billionaire would only pay $750 in taxes and look up the IRS code, which says it’s a late filing penalty fee. Trump has been under audit for 10 years. Anyone with an ounce of common sense would figure out if Trump had committed a tax violation the IRS would have swooped in to collect what was owed during those years, but they haven’t. Have they? Also, Trump takes no salary for his work as president. He takes no salary for his businesses deals with international connections and his son has stopped all NEW international business deals since Jan. 2017.

Not sure how much a man who takes no salary, donates his full presidential salary to help various programs, with a huge reduction in income from previous years, but would guess he has legitimate write offs we’d all take, if allowable.

“If you owe tax and don’t file on time, there’s also a penalty for not filing on time. The failure-to-file penalty is usually five percent of the tax owed for each month, or part of a month that your return is late, up to a maximum of 25%. If your return is over 60 days late, there’s also a minimum penalty for late filing; it’s the lesser of $435 (for tax returns required to be filed in 2020) or 100 percent of the tax owed. See Topic No. 304 for information about extensions to file, if you can’t file on time.”

CW even had a different tone for each candidate. Trump’s were offensive, while Biden’s was conciliatory. CW would cut Trump off if he didn’t stick to the question, but when Biden went off topic CW would bring him back by stopping him and repeating the question.

IMHO, two things were accomplished last night. It drove Trump supporters more to his side evident by the Telemundo’s poll of 66% Trump to 34% Biden. And Biden let his far left Bernie fans know he had no plan to follow the agreed upon 110 page manifesto that included AOC’s Green Deal.

From the AZ Republic, “You can fairly say that the first presidential debate between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday night was historic television — historically bad television, a smoking crater of absurdity that played like the reality TV show life seemingly has become.

“That was a hot mess inside a dumpster fire inside a train wreck,” CNN’s Jake Tapper said once it was over. “That was the worst debate I have ever seen. In fact, it wasn’t even a debate. It was a disgrace and it’s primarily because of President Trump.”

Liberal media bias? Not if you watched.

Trump repeatedly — by which I mean almost constantly — interrupted Biden and the moderator, Fox News’ Chris Wallace. It got to the point that it seemed strange when Trump didn’t interrupt.

    • J. Soden says:

      Well said, Peggy!

  3. Peggy says:

Here is what Mark Levin had to say about the debate.

“As I reflect on last night’s debate, Biden pulled the same stunts on the president as he pulled on Paul Ryan eight years earlier, but Trump would have none of it. Biden was making faces, rolling his eyes, interrupting the president with laughs and jabs, and was long-winded, which the moderator allowed to a ridiculous level. He was also allowed much longer opportunities uninterrupted by the moderator to speak, which Biden used to hurl one nasty lie after another. The president is a counter-puncher and often was forced to try to muscle his way in to address Biden’s list of attacks as he wasn’t given opportunities to reply. The moderator’s liberal bias was obvious in the nature of many of the questions, as was his dislike of the president when he’d get into arguments with the president over policy while mostly letting Biden get away with whoppers. The moderator knows the governors shutdown the economy not the president, the moderator knows the president didn’t kill over 200,000 Americans, the moderator knows Antifa is a real group, the moderator knows that the “science” of man-made climate change is in dispute, etc., but it seemed like none and certainly little of his correcting or challenging was aimed at Biden or, even worse, he’d insert his views into the questioning and follow up. If he was truly interested in tax returns, why did he ignore Biden’s use of an S-1 corporation to get around paying over half a million dollars in payroll taxes, including Social Security, or mention that the New York Times article itself states that Trump paid approximately $24 million in the alternative minimum tax. If you’re going to bring it up, then get it right. Unlike most commentators I’m reading this morning, who either declare a plague on all their houses or are more critical of the president than Biden, I see it differently. Biden’s strategy was as a disrupter who was prepared with memorized attack lines and falsehoods, which he rattled off like a machine gun. Biden’s handlers figured such a debate — going from hiding in the basement and limiting press availability to a debate brawl — would continue to protect Biden from real scrutiny for his past record and his current embrace of truly extremist policies as set forth in his 110-page manifesto. Biden’s obvious strategy, plus the moderator’s predictable approach, was infuriating.”

  4. Peggy says:

If you can stomach it take a trip back to 2012 and the Biden Ryan debate. Note all of the smirks, put-downs and interruptions Biden does. Look familiar?

Also, of interest are the topics of Benghazi, Iran nuclear deal, the economy/recession recovery and an unemployment rate over 8%.

Peggy, CW tossed Trump some great openers, but Trump was too busy being on the defensive and acting like an egomaniac, so he blew right past them. That makes me cringe, it makes me mad! Trump could have scored so easy and he missed the opportunity. I want Trump back in the White House because of his policies. His policies Most of them) are good for this country. I just wish he would attend a few speech classes so he would not look like such a jerk.

      • Peggy says:

Agree. He does act like a jerk sometimes. But, what ticks me off and brings out my mama bear streak is seeing someone bullied for over four years 24/7 from three different sides at the same time, and when he fights back he’s called a bully and other names. Sure, we can say he’s the president and should act presidential, but he’s a man first and while trying to help his country has the right to defend his name and his family from constant verbal attacks.

I too want him back in the Oval Office to continue his work for the sake of our country and to keep the socialist from taking over. I’m hoping he doesn’t just throw in the towel if he feels he’s fighting alone without enough supports for him to win in Nov. He needs to know we have his back while he takes the front line.

This is good and I agree with it.

A comment on how Trump came across during the debate (actually a pissing and dissing contest, by all in 3)

After listening to Mark Lavin show (which a link is provided, Thank You Peggy for the insight) I felt it pretty much sums up the reasons why Trump came out swinging.

It is a long radio broadcast, but there is good info in the first 10 minutes that I feel offer a positive explanation, and critic of why Trump had the need to interrupt.

I do agree with Levin that had Trump not injected himself into Biden’s remarks as much as he did, Biden would have gotten away with political BS.

        • Post Scripts says:

I kinda felt if Trump had backed off a tad…let Joe talk, that Biden would have fallen on his face. He came so close several times. But, every single time Biden paused to remember where or who he was, Trump jumped in, mouthed off and that gave Biden the break he needed to recover. These were golden opportunities to take Biden out and he blew it – his well timed silence would have served Trump’s cause (and ours) so much better!!!!!

IMHO, that was a pitiful performance. Only the great masters of talk, like Mark Levin or Sean Hannity could find something good about it to save Trump. Every time I go back to review that so-called debate, it makes me more angry and disappointed. It was a disaster and if life long right-winger like me feels this way, I imagine there must millions more of us that are equally disappointed and frustrated. Geez… we’ve got so much to lose if Biden/Harris gets elected, well, I don’t even want to think about it. So, I will still vote for Trump because I like his policies. But, the man’s ego-driven personality has a lot to be desired.

          • Peggy says:

Every morning I listen to Rush and every night I listen to Levin, when I can. I find knowledge in their views and insight from their years of experience. I’m pretty thrilled with myself when they validate my own thoughts. LOL

Dana Perino the other day said she watched the debate a second time, listened to it and then read it. It was reading it that she gained the most from, with so much going on at the same time. If I remember right she did agree with you, Jack, on one point. Trump needed to pause and let Biden talk to force him into answering his questions, like about the Supreme Court and Hunter. On this I agree with you and Dana.

  5. Tina says:

Trump is a NY street fighter and always will be. But that is a fraction of what he is. His ability to create groups that accomplish great things and give them credit for it is one aspect of the man. He has accomplished more in just 3 years than any other President in our history and this while being criticized and undermined by the opposition party, media, and from within our government. He knew CW would not be even handed going in…but he showed. I can see why people wish he’d behave differently but really, how many of us could continue working, and smiling, Uber the weight of so much negative garbage? He’s been under siege through it all.
Meanwhile, Biden is protected, just as Hillary was.
Why people aren’t more livid about the obvious bias and pure evil waged against him in media and elsewhere, I’ll never know.
Major cities, run by Democrats, have been under assault and on fire for months by left wing agitators and terrorists and CW asks Trump if he’ll denounce right wing extremist groups? Is the man insane? It was a perfect and timely question for Biden regarding Antifa. That question alone was enough to completely discredit his performance.
Yes the debate was a s…show. Chris Wallace got the biggest black eye in my opinion.
    Kudos Peggy!

  6. Peggy says:

Good read. I agree with most and like the rest. Jack, I think you’ll like it too.
