Chico Air Museum – Historic Aircraft on Display to Public

Can we just take a break here, just for today…lets skip the headline news?  How about we talk about something fun, like the new planes destined for the Chico Air Museum.  That’s right, it’s almost a done deal, two and possibly three new aircraft are in negotiation for transport.  Transport is all that’s holding two of them up.

The first candidate is a U.S. Army AH-1 Cobra helicopter.  (See left)  The Cobra is a very advanced and a somewhat stealthy ground support helicopter.  It’s fast and has a substantial combat history in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Cobra is a two-blade, single-turbine engine attack helicopter manufactured by Bell Helicopter. It was developed using the engine, transmission and rotor system of the Bell UH-1 Iroquois. A member of the prolific Huey family, the AH-1 is also referred to as the Huey-Cobra or Snake.  Top speed is 141 mph, pretty darn fast for a helo.

The next candidate is a jet trainer called the T-38 Talon.  It’s a fast, highly maneuverable jet with a pilot and co-pilot.

At one time this plane served as an escort for the SR-71 to aid in landing approaches at Beale AFB.

The T-38 (still in use – see right) trained many US fighter pilots, however in another configuration it was called the T-5 Tiger Shark and it was a true fighter.  A number of NATO allies bought this plane for the first line of defense.  Perhaps one of it’s best known roles for the Talon was as an op-force (enemy) fighter used to train F14 and F15 pilots against Russian tactics.   They were usually painted black and had a red star painted on the side to resemble an old Soviet plane.

And the last plane under consideration is a show condition, award winning plane, that is famous from coast to coast.  It’s identity is restricted for time being due to ongoing negotiations.  However, I can tell you it is a plane that has graced the cover of more than one major aviation magazine.   It’s truly a stunner.  But, we’re running out of room and this plane is definitely an indoor display only!   Maybe we can make room by hanging another plane from the rafters in our hanger?  We’ve done that with our EAA bi-plane and it looks pretty cool. More room up there than on our floor.

Soon to be improved is our aircraft model collection.  The model room is destined for brand new glass display cases.  Many of our models are one of a kind that date back over 60 years and they need to be displayed in safe and secure manner… without little hands being able to grab them, know what I mean?

Simply put, we have amassed a fortune in rare and collectable aircraft at our airport-based museum and it’s well worth seeing.  For example, our F-15 Eagle cost taxpayers over $80M and we saved it from the boneyard.  Now you can see this mach 2.5 fighter jet and talk to one of our staff experts on this plane and many others.

On the flip side of those faster than the speed of sound aircraft is the beautifully done SPAD Model 13 (see below right) as used in the Great War circa 1917.  You can see one in the Smithsonian or you can see one right here in Chico (for free).

One of the rarest planes in our collection is currently under renovation by our A and P team.  Its due for display sometime in 2020.  This is the ultra-rare USN Guardian sub-hunter, designed during WWII, but not completed until 1950.  It is one of six known to exist.  Ours may be the best and most complete of the six.

We’ve got a little something for everyone and that’s no joke.  There’s a kiddy area inside with a mini-theater and a big screen TV.  Playing now is Pixar’s, Planes.   We have a nice gift shop for aircraft-related souvenirs, clothing and toys.   There’s a special area just for educational tours, grades 3-8 and high schoolers.   Outside, we have a covered viewing area for planes coming and going right outside our hanger door.  On the opposite side of the tarmac is a fenced display area that features several rare Russian planes, an very rare F86 Saber jet (shown to the left), a P-80 Shooting Star, a huge H1 Piasecki chopper, a twin engine Neptune P2V, a Corsair II jet and more.

Admission is free, parking is free and it was built without costing the taxpayer’s one dime, it’s an all volunteer effort.

Trump Declares ‘Time for Us to Get Out’ of Syria as Republicans Object!

Donald Trump got “rolled” by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a National Security Council source with direct knowledge of the discussions told Newsweek. 

MSNBC – In a scheduled phone call on Sunday afternoon between President Trump and President Erdogan, Trump said he would withdraw U.S. forces from northern Syria. The phone call was scheduled after Turkey announced it was planning to invade Syria, and hours after Erdogan reinforced his army units at the Syrian-Turkish border and issued his strongest threat to launch a military incursion, according to the National Security Council official to whom Newsweek spoke on condition of anonymity.

The U.S. withdrawal plays into the hands of the Islamic State group, Damascus and Moscow, and the announcement left Trump’s own Defense Department “completely stunned,” said Pentagon officials. Turkey, like the United States, wants regime change in Syria. Russia and Iran support the Assad regime.

“President Trump was definitely out-negotiated and only endorsed the troop withdraw to make it look like we are getting something—but we are not getting something,” the National Security Council source told Newsweek. “The U.S. national security has entered a state of increased danger for decades to come because the president has no spine and that’s the bottom line.”

Newsweek granted the National Security Council official anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly. The source said it would not be surprising to see a Turkish incursion in the next 24 to 96 hours.

This has caught the GOP completely by surprise and has lawmakers on both sides are screaming foul.  One leader after another is taking to the podium to condemn this action as ill-advised and foolish.   Sen. Lindsey Graham, said ”

Appearing on Trump-boosting morning show Fox & Friends, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was asked whether he supported the president’s move, prompting the hawkish Republican lawmaker to exclaim, “Absolutely not.”

“If I didn’t see Donald Trump’s name on the tweet, I thought it would be [former President] Obama’s rationale for getting out of Iraq.” he said. “This is gonna lead to ISIS’s reemergence!”

Graham went on to say this was a “big win for ISIS,” claiming that the Kurds in the area will align with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad because they’d have no choice due to the United States abandoning them. “So this is a big win for Iran and Assad,” he added.

President Trump Threaten’s Turkey!

“As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done it before!). They must, with Europe and others, watch over “the captured ISIS fighters and families. The U.S. has done far more than anyone could have ever expected, including the capture of 100% of the ISIS Caliphate. It is time now for others in the region, some of great wealth, to protect their own territory. THE USA IS GREAT!”   President Donald Trump

If I have deciphered this tweet correctly,  Trump is saying if Turkey wages war on the Kurds or if they invade Syria, they can expect economic sanctions from the US.  As for watching over the captured Isis terrorists and their families, this is a little more clear.  It is in reference to the cost of keeping terrorists and their families in camps.  This is creating a serious cost burden for the US.  In many cases the country of origins for these Isis thugs  don’t want them back.  In the recent past, Trump has threatened to force repatriation.

Now this from Business Insider – 15 minutes ago:  “Turkey is a member of the NATO alliance, making it highly unusual for the US president to threaten economic war on an ally. Trump rebuked the Turkish and European governments and suggested they weren’t shouldering enough of the responsibilities in fighting the Islamic State.

“”It is time now for others in the region, some of great wealth, to protect their own territory,” Trump tweeted.

“The Turkish economy has been in the midst of a year-long recession with a battered currency and high inflation. Economists say the Turkish economy will contract 0.3 percent this year after a decade of strong growth. It’s not clear what actions Trump could take against the NATO ally.”

President Erdogan of Turkey is a dictator and he is fast approaching being a Muslim hardliner in defiance to Turkey’s secular status.   So, it’s highly unlikely that he will be moved by anything Trump threatens.  However, it could strain diplomatic relations to the point that we lose our two air bases in Turkey.   Incirlik is the main base.  It employs 5,000 airmen which includes Turkish and British Airmen.  The second base, Izmir, is more for NATO purposes, however Americans are also stationed there and we’ve done most of the construction and upkeep.  It would be a huge loss if we were evicted from these bases.

Erdogan has been a political figure for decades and more recently increasingly a religious nut-case.  But, until he achieved power in 2014 (he was voted in as President), he was a minor irritant to US policies.   Now, after his election and his strong hold on power he has started undermining free press and free speech and other Constitutional guarantees.  Four years after his election key military leaders attempted a coup that failed and now he’s become just another Muslim dictator.

It’s safe to say that Erdogan has never been a friend of the US, but with President Trump the relations have become extremely stressed.  Where this will end up is anyone’s guess.  But, I don’t like the prospects for equitable resolution.

There was a time when the fine young cannibals of the left confined themselves to “Eat The Rich” t-shirts and bumper stickers. They have since moved on…

I am torn between laughing out loud and grimacing in anguish at the completely bent idiocy of it.

Of course that agonizing (or agonizingly funny) bit of theater could have been a put-on. But in light of the mountains of politicized, activist baloney permeating climate science, the relentless stream of über-hyperbolic hysteria and fear mongering from manipulative misanthropes, pandering progressive politicos and an obsequious activist press posing as professional journalists, I think not. This sad woman is very stupid, very scared and very, very disturbed (or a brilliant actor portraying the usual prog) which is exactly the sort of constituency Democrats seek to cultivate, as well as progressives worldwide. Case in point — the recent school walkouts over climate change. Children being used and abused in the name of political activism. Its not about climate, it is about power and manipulation.

Considering the ludicrous political positions recently championed by Democrats and the abject lunacy coming from a cadre of contemptible clowns currently vying for the party’s presidential nomination, I suspect this poor woman is absolutely and totally sincere.

Adam Schiff is a Liar!

The Congressman from CA, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, should be kicked off the intelligence committee.  Why? Because we can’t trust him – he’s way too partisan and he deliberately lied when he said his office had not spoken to the Ukraine whistleblower prior to that individual filing a complaint against President Trump.    

It was this big fat whooper that now threatens to undermine the credibility and of  Schiff and his committee, that is, if it really had any to start with?  

I can see now there is no way this kangaroo court of inquiry is going to produce anything rising to the level of impeachment.  Trump need not do one single thing to defend himself…just let them implode in their rush to judgement.  Adam Schiff blew it because he is a bungler par excellance’, Pelosi feared this would happen.  Why do you think she’s been so reluctant to get involved?   As Shakespeare once said, “hoist with his own petard”  Nice going Rep. Schiff – ya liar.

The Kangaroo Court for Impeachment

News today – “Over several weeks in March, the office of Ukraine’s top prosecutor moved ahead on two investigations of intense interest to Mr. Trump. One was focused on an oligarch — previously cleared of wrongdoing by the same prosecutor — whose company employed former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s son. The other dealt with the release by a separate Ukrainian law enforcement agency to the media of information that hurt Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign.

The actions by the prosecutor, Yuriy Lutsenko, did not come out of thin air. They were the first visible results of a remarkable behind-the-scenes campaign to gather and disseminate political dirt from a foreign country, encouraged by Mr. Trump and carried out by his personal lawyer, Rudolph W. Giuliani. In the last week their engagement with Ukraine has prompted a formal impeachment inquiry into whether the president courted foreign interference to hurt a leading political rival.”

What is not being investigated was Joe Biden’s influence pedaling and his son Hunter Biden’s amazing windfall of landing a $50,000 a month job working for a Ukrainian oligarch who controls vast oil and gas resources in the Ukraine.

Check it out… a Congressman from Illinois was speaking  on NPR about the impeachment hearing.   He said, “Trump was trying to bully the Ukrainian president into creating fake charges of corruption against Hunter Biden and Joe Biden.”  FAKE CHARGES?

I didn’t catch this Representative’s name, but here is a guy who is on a committee to determine wrong doing and he is going on air to flatly state Trump was bullying the Ukrainian President  to create false charges against Hunter Biden!  How many levels of wrong is that?  A U.S. Congressman with this kind of bias is sitting in judgement for impeachment and he is asking the American people to believe Burisma Holding company scoured the world over looking for the best and brightest to serve on their board of directors at $50,000 a month.  Then we’re asked to believe they just came upon ol’ Hunter Biden as the perfect man for the job?   Good timing too, cause ol’ Hunter was out of work.  Two months earlier Hunter was commissioned as a Naval Reserve Officer…one month later and was tossed out of the service for using cocaine.  And two months after that scandal he lands this big job with Burisma Holding while his dad is Vice President, but democrats see nothing wrong?  The stench of hypocrisy is overwhelming.

Maria Gets Scammed

Maria is a hard working lady, approaching the age of 50.  Her work experience had been limited to cleaning houses and some part-time retail work for several discount stores.   Then she heard about one of these online employment referral places, this is where you submit your resume and you have a lot of potential employers checking you out.   She really wasn’t getting anywhere in her current job and so she decided to do an online resume.

About a week later she got a call from a lady who said she lives in the US, but works mostly in Dubai.  She was looking for a trustworthy person to act as her personal secretary.  This  would mean answering the phone, forwarding messages and mailing things when she was in Dubai.  All of these things she could do from her own home in less than 20 hours a week.  The salary was $3500 a month!    Maria decided she would give it a try.

The next day her new boss called and said she was forwarding her a check for $2500.  She wanted Maria to deposit it in her own checking accounting and then send two checks for $750 each to two addresses in Florida.  Maria was told she could keep the balance ($1000) for her trouble.  The $2500 check arrived 3 days later and Maria did just as she was instructed…so simple and she just made a $1000!.

Some time past when she received a notice from her bank that her checking account was overdrawn.  What, that’s impossible?  She thought.   As it would turn out that $2500 check never cleared, but her checks did, but only because her bank covered some of the money for her and now they wanted their money.   Maria never heard from her mysterious employer again and she was out the $1500.

Maria was hired over the phone to do a job that she no experience in and yet paid her double what she normally earned and in less than half the time.   This seemed to good to be true.  Red flag.

Employer wants to use her checking account and her money.  Big red flag.

Next, Maria was asked to deposit this stranger’s check for $2500 and did not wait for the funds to clear before she withdrew her own money in the form of two $750 checks and sent it off.  She was so focused on getting a $1000 tip for her effort that she didn’t question why her employer couldn’t have done this for herself?  Red flag.

She didn’t tell anyone, friends, relatives or anyone at the bank what she was doing or they could have stepped in and exposed the scam before she lost her money.  ( That was just over the top stupid. )

Trump Investigation – Nothing So Far

“The anonymous whistleblower complaint has been declassified by the House Intelligence Committee and was released to the public Thursday morning after select members of Congress reviewed the report Wednesday night.

The complaint chronicles accusations of President Donald Trump conspiring with a foreign leader to interfere with U.S. elections, mirroring charges made three years ago against Trump, alleging he worked with Russia to defeat Hillary Clinton in 2016, allegations that were later shown to be no more than a conspiracy theory.

The declassified whistleblower document reveals that White House officials attempted to “lock down” the details of a July phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in which Trump suggested Ukraine investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter for their dealings with a Ukrainian energy company to weed out corruption in the country. While he was vice president, Biden played a role in firing the Ukrainian prosecutor for going after the company whose board Hunter sat on for $50,000 a month.

The first page of the complaint also notes that the whistleblower “was not a direct witness to most of the events described” in the memo, basing each claim on hearsay.

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said Thursday that the newly released complaint “is nothing more than a collection of third-hand accounts of events and cobbled-together press clippings — all of which shows nothing improper.”

“The White House will continue to push back on the hysteria and false narratives being peddled by Democrats and many in the mainstream media, and President Trump will continue to work hard on behalf of the American people as he always does,” said Grisham.

CA now has 1 in every 2 Homeless in the Nation – Says WSJ

From the LA Times, “Guess which state has the highest poverty rate in the country? Not Mississippi, New Mexico, or West Virginia, but California, where nearly one out of five residents is poor. That’s according to the Census Bureau’s Supplemental Poverty Measure, which factors in the cost of housing, food, utilities and clothing, and which includes noncash government assistance as a form of income.”

And now the Wall Street Journal study says California has 50% of the nation’s bum population, even though our non-homeless population is only about 12% of the total for the US.

Let me sum it up for you:

CA- most taxed state in the nation

CA-legislature, tied with NY for highest paid

CA-education, ranks 47th out of 50, grades 1-12

CA-has 3 of the nation’s worst cities for homicide 

CA-ranks number 1 of all states for the most homicides 

CA-has most stringent gun control laws in US, except for Washington D.C.

CA-has the most illegal immigrants. Estimated number of undocumented immigrants is 3,034,000 people

CA-is in a 4 way tie for the most Sanctuary cities, the other 3 are Vermont, Rhode Island and Connecticut.  Theirs is a token gesture because they have almost no illegal aliens  

CA-Highest fuel prices in the nation.  This affects poor more than anyone else.

See what happens when liberals control everything?  It is a complete disaster and I’ve only touched on a fraction of the problems liberals have created.  CA should be a warning to the nation – never elect liberals to anything.

PS  Be sure and sign the petition to recall Karl Ory and Randall Stone from the Chico City Council, these are two flaming libs without a wit of common sense.
