Parents Placed Kids at Risk During Trip to Mexico

by Jack

6 Jan – Mexico   Another American family takes the kids on a vacation to Mexico and then their worst nightmare happens, they were ambushed by cartel members.

The family was traveling in two vehicles, returning from a vacation in central Mexico. It was near midnight when the two vehicles entered a long, straight, stretch of two lane highway that parallels the US border. This isolated area has become a well known battle ground for two warring cartels. Any residents in the area moved out long ago due to the violence.  Now along comes the two US vehicles, loaded with family members, apparently oblivious to the danger.

The two vehicles were suddenly overtaken by two SUV’s coming from behind.   The lead SUV cut them off and forced a rear end collision that brought all four of the vehicles to a stop in the middle of the highway.

Gunmen in the vehicles then opened fire on the helpless family. Four of them were wounded and a 13 year old was killed. The gunmen abandoned the damaged lead vehicle and left in the second SUV.

Why the family was traveling at night through this desolate and dangerous region has not been determined, but whatever the reason it was a real bad choice.  The family was from Oklahoma.

ED NOTE – Anyone travelling to Mexico should at the very least review the Dept. of State Tourist Advisories and then consider if the trip is worth risking your life?  Mexico, like some of our border towns, is a very dangerous for the average person, and especially Americans.   That danger has carried over from Mexico to Hispanic neighborhoods in National City, CA, San Diego,  East Los Angeles, San Jose, Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto and into rural Northern California.  Even smaller places like  Chico, Willows, Orland and some of our unincorporated areas have been hard hit by gang activity, this is including marijuana grow sites in the hills operated at times by cartels members from Mexico.

WAR WITH IRAN! OMG…run for cover

by Jack

What would war with Iran look like?   Quick answer, it would be short and violent.

  • If there was a war the Saudi’s would cheering.  They hate Iran and are fighting a proxy war with them right now in Qatar.
  •  In war the Strait of Hormuz would be a likely battle ground.  Iran can launch ship killing missiles and block international oil tankers from passing through.  This is Iran’s only home field advantage.
  • Obviously the Iranians options are fairly limited in a declared war.   They would have to fall back on terrorist type tactics because they don’t have a military that can reach us.
  • The Iranians can void the nuclear treaty, but since they have already done that many times that action has lost any significance.  The old treaty has no value and it didn’t long before Donald Trump took office.
  • If Iran declared war we would have every reason to obliterate their nuclear materials production.  The Israelis’ would love to see that or help us.  They’ve been wanting to  take out Iran’s nuclear capabilities for a long time.  There are many Middle East nations would have be very happy if we did that.
  • In terms of conventional combat Iran can’t attack us with their navy, they can’t reach us with their army or their air force, so what’s left?   Not much.  We would have to sail up to them and let them shoot at us, because they can’t get beyond their territorial waters without being destroyed.   But, we can stand off and shoot at them all day long with almost zero risk.
  • In terms of real harm they can’t do much of anything, but we can.  If they set off an IED or a car bomb, we can flatten their version of the Pentagon or take out a whole squadron of jet aircraft.  In a real shoot out Iran’s military force could be nullified into a broken force of just ground soldiers with small arms and next to no command and control ability.
  • War with Iran would be like sending little Chico High’s JV football team against NFL all stars.

Questions Linger About Drone Strike

by Jack

Unless you were a cog in the wheel of our middle east machine, you probably never heard of Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani (Shown on left), Iran’s most powerful commander or Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis (Shown below right), a lifelong ally of Iran and the current Iraqi deputy commander overseeing militias. The latter has long been at odds with the United States and was a sellout to Iran.  The fact they remained unknown and untouched is a colossal failing of past president’s Bush and Obama.

From the start of Gulf War II, the global intelligence community knew these guys were trouble. Insiders knew Suleimani was orchestrating bomb attacks and other terrorist type attacks in Iraq. So why were our former leaders not building a case against them before the world and the American public? Why did it fall on Donald Trump to finally do what should have been done years earlier?  Consider, the history of these bad guys goes back decades – why didn’t somebody say something?!!!

Now fast forward to President Trump. Trump’s had his own problems to deal with since day one of his presidency, but despite those horrendous distractions, he still got the job done.  He cleaned up the mess that Bush and Obama left behind.

It doesn’t take a lot of deductive reasoning to figure out why Bush and Obama took a pass on removing Suleimani. They were afraid.  They knew the political fall out would be rough.  This is the same reasoning President Clinton followed when he passed on killing Osama bin Laden prior to 9-11 and look what that cost us!  So, finally it took the bombastic Donald Trump to do what should have been done years earlier.

Of course now in the aftermath of their deaths the fallout is much worse than it needed to be.  And selling the attack to the public now is also much harder, especially with democrats united in destroying Trump.

Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Oakland, was one of the swiftest and fiercest lawmakers to condemn Trump’s actions. She said the strike that killed Gen. Qassem Soleimani is a “dangerous escalation of tensions with Iran that brings us close to the brink of war.”

“The Trump Administration has acted without any consultation with Congress or an authorization to use military force,” Lee said in a statement.   (This is why I’m torn between Barbara Lee or Maxine Waters for the Idiot of the Year award.)

The dems are looking for political advantage here and consequently they are playing games with national security.  They are putting their own self interests ahead of the American public and that is loathsome beyond measure.

The drone strikes were legally and morally justifiable.   It was a unanimous decision by Trump’s cabinet members, but now he alone takes the heat.  The dems and our left-wing media have gone to great lengths to minimize this part and instead focus on beating up Trump for their own purposes.  Outrageous.   If they had the slightest bit of integrity we should be hearing over and over how these two characters were actively engaged in the plans to kill American soldiers and coalition forces and how Trump did the right thing, knowing it would cost him.

To make matters worse and let me say this again… until these two were killed nobody in the American public knew they even existed.  That was a tactical blunder of the highest order by both Bush and Obama and they deserve to be smacked down now.  That blunder now makes it easier for Iran to come at us in retaliation.   The only thing that is going to give them pause is Trump.  They know he doesn’t run from a fight.

Shoot or Don’t Shoot?

Shoot or Don’t Shoot-

Summary: City police received a report of a young adult couple being threatened by a 20 year old male Hispanic with a .45 cal pistol. The couple had been hanging out in a city park when the suspect approached the female and started to harass her.  He made some vulgar comments to her about performing a sex act on him and laughed.   This attracted the attention of her male companion who was standing about 20 feet away.

He approached the park bench where the female victim was seated and told the (S) to leave her alone.  At this point the (S) dared him to make him leave.  He then threatened to shoot both of them as he drew what appeared to be a semi auto .45 cal. pistol from his waistband and pointed it at the male companion.  He threatened to “blow him away.”

The (S) left the area on foot going north towards a residential area. The victims called police from a cell phone.   Several police cars quickly arrived on the scene and began searching for the (S).

Approximately 3 minutes later Officer A observed a subject matching the description of the (S) walking through an alley, due north of the park. He was wearing clothing and carrying a black backpack similar to that described by the victims.

Officer A stopped behind the (S), exited his vehicle and he ordered the (S) to stop and show his hands. The (S) dropped his backpack and bolted. The officer pursued him in his police vehicle until the (S) tried to escape running through several backyards to an adjacent street. Officer A chased the (S) on foot as he radioed directions to responding police units.

The foot pursuit lasted about two hundred yards when the (S) suddenly stopped, pulled back his coat and attempted to withdraw the pistol as described above.

Officer A was already pointing his own service pistol at the (S) and told him to freeze or he would be shot!   The Officer again held his fire.

The (S) fumbled the weapon and it fell into tall grass. However, the (S) continued to ignore the orders of Officer A and bent over to snatch the weapon from the grass. He did not point the weapon at the officer, instead he held it and then raised it to his own head.

(S) turned away from the officer ran towards the street a short distance away.  But, his path was cut off by a responding patrol vehicle. At that point (S) dropped his weapon and surrendered to Officer A who was about 25 feet behind him.

Moments later police determined .45 cal weapon had the serial number ground off…it was also loaded.  The (S) also had a fully loaded spare clip in his coat pocket as well as three unfired .12 gauge shotgun shells.  The (S)’s backpack was recovered ad it had articles of clothing in it typically associated with gang apparel, possibly indicating gang affiliation with the Sorenos, a well known street gang in the city.

An elderly Hispanic man witnessed the pursuit and spoke to the officers and asked why Officer A didn’t shoot him?   Officer A said, he did not shoot because of the changes in CA law that made the officer liable unless he could absolutely prove the (S) meant to use his weapon on the officer, a far higher threshold than last year.  Merely drawing a weapon may not have been enough reason to shoot.  The witness was stunned.

Prior to this time the officer could have justifiably fired when the (S) attempted to draw his weapon, especially after being told to freeze by the officer.   Officer A said he had no choice, but to risk his life or face trial and possible incarceration.

Officer A’s sergeant and police chief would later concurred Officer A was right. They both felt under the new law that there was weak cause to shoot the (S) and if he did shoot it would likely have ended in a prosecution of the officer.  Whether or not he was convicted was another matter.

The witness strongly disagreed with this CA law because he claimed it placed him and other civilians at greater risk, as well as the officers.

He said his neighborhood was so heavily controlled by gang members that it was unsafe to be in the park or walk down the sidewalk at night.  He felt the criminals in CA have more rights now than law abiding citizens.  He said he would never vote for a democrat again and will urge his family members to vote republican.  He’s also thinking about carrying a gun for his own safety.  He expressed some strong comments about Gov. Gavin Newsome that can’t be repeated here.

Your opinions please.

Virginia 2nd Amendment Crisis

Posted by Jack, with thanks to RHT for link

You may recall that citizens of Virginia have become outraged recently by new laws that are likely to pass this month, effectively banning all semi-automatic weapons. Sanctuary counties, cities, and municipalities now cover all but the most urban parts of the state. These sanctuaries have vowed to support the Second Amendment and are refusing to enforce unconstitutional gun laws.

In response, a member of the state congress suggested that Governor Northam could call up the National Guard to disarm residents of Virginia despite the wishes of local governments. In response to that, at least one county has formed a militia and others are expected to spring up. The state’s Attorney General says that these sanctuaries carry no legal weight.

Despite the AG’s opinion and threats from the state government, Virginians appear to have no plans to give up their guns or register them. Many members of law enforcement entities and the National Guard have said that they will not act on unconstitutional orders.

Has the radical left gone to far in VA?  We’ll soon see.

And now this….

“I would hope they (cops) either resign in good conscience because they cannot uphold the law which they are sworn to uphold, or they’re prosecuted for failure to fulfill their oath,” Virginia Rep. Gerry Connolly told the Washington Examiner.  Connolly wants to use the National Guard to seize weapons.

“The law is the law. If that becomes the law, you don’t have a choice, not if you’re a sworn officer of the law,” the Democrat added.

At issue is sweeping gun control legislation being pushed by Virginia’s Democratically-controlled House of Delegates, which includes universal background checks, an “assault weapons” ban, and a red flag law. The office of the Democratic governor explained that the proposed ”assault weapons” ban in Virginia would “include a grandfather clause for individuals who already own assault weapons, with the requirement they register their weapons before the end of a designated grace period.”

But more than 75 counties in Virginia have declared themselves ”Second Amendment sanctuaries” in the wake of the control being imposed by the Democratic Virginia General Assembly. Law enforcement officials and legal firearm owners in the state have banded together and vow to uphold the Second Amendment in the municipalities regardless of what comes down from the capital of Richmond.

ED NOTE:  This is very serious and while we hope this does not spark violence, there are no guarantees it won’t.   Keep a close watch on VA.

109 Media Mistakes

From Peggy….

And then we have award winning investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson disclose 109 lies/falsehoods about Trump by the media.

109 Media Mistakes in the Trump Era: The Definitive List:

“We the media have “fact-checked” President Trump like we have fact-checked no other human being on the planet—and he’s certainly given us plenty to write about. That’s probably why it’s so easy to find lists enumerating and examining his mistakes, missteps and “lies.”

But as self-appointed arbiters of truth, we’ve largely excused our own unprecedented string of fact-challenged reporting. The truth is, formerly well-respected, top news organizations are making repeat, unforced errors in numbers that were unheard of just a couple of years ago.

Our repeat mistakes involve declaring that Trump’s claims are “lies” when they are matters of opinion, or when the truth between conflicting sources is unknowable; taking Trump’s statements and events out of context; reporting secondhand accounts against Trump without attribution as if they’re established fact; relying on untruthful, conflicted sources; and presenting reporter opinions in news stories—without labeling them as opinions.”

continued… (Fascinating list)

Michael Moore – Gun Owners are the Problem

Thanks go to RHT for this find

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – NOVEMBER 07: Michael Moore attends the 6th Annual DOC NYC Visionaries Tribute at Gotham Hall on November 07, 2019 in New York City. (Photo by Santiago Felipe/Getty Images)

The Hollywood scion, Michael Moore, who lives primarily on his trust fund has declared publicly that firearms owners pose a real threat. If that was true, Fat Mike would have been planted six feet down with a mouth full of dirt.

But he’s alive and he never left the US as he promised to do when President Trump took office. So he’s not only foolish, he’s a liar.

Texas Church Shooting – After Action Analysis

by Jack

Wire story – “A gunman who was fatally shot by parishioners after opening fire at a Texas church service had been given food by the church many times and was being closely watched before his rampage began, church leaders said.

Keith Thomas Kinnunen, 43, shown at left, slipped into the Sunday service at the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement wearing a long black wig, a fake beard and a bulky jacket.”We’ve helped him on several occasions with food,” minister Britt Farmer told The Christian Chronicle. ”He gets mad when we won’t give him cash. He’s been here on multiple occasions.”

During Communion, Kinnunen pulled out a sawed off, 12-gauge shotgun with a pistol grip and started shooting. Killed were Deacon Anton “Tony” Wallace, 64, who was holding a silver Communion tray, and Richard White, 67, who yelled, “Drop it!” as he stood up and reached for his pistol.

One victim was identified as Deacon Anton “Tony” Wallace. He was 64. The second victim was identified as Richard White by his family. Both died at a nearby hospital.

The Church of Christ was live-streaming their Sunday services on their YouTube channel, and while the motive remains unclear, a man is firing off two shots while church-goers ducked under their seats in fear. The video, which has since been removed from the church’s YouTube channel, also showed an armed security guard, identified as Jack Wilson, taking down the gunman with a single shot.

AFTER ACTION REPORT –

TEXAS LAW and TEXANS:   The church deserves no end of praise . . . for having some of their members take part in an armed security force.  That was smart thinking!  It was also something encouraged by the Texas legislation in the wake of several church shootings.  They passed a law in Sep. of 2017 that  made it legal for churches to have armed volunteer guards — but the law’s author says many churches in Texas don’t know it’s an option.  Well, how about that?  The Texas legislature acted prudently and encouraged armed intervention to protect their people.

CA LAW:  If you live in CA, don’t expect any help to come from our liberal legislature.  I can assure you they will learn nothing from this incident.

Our democrat idiots are too busy looking for creative ways to disarm law abiding citizens or create gun free zones.  They are and shall remain, oblivious to the reality that Texans consider common sense.  In CA they only know one thing…ban it or tax it.  All their repressive, anti-second amendment laws and all their moronic gun free zones would not have prevented this shooter from killing, only an armed citizen could do that!

CA’s goes in the wrong direction again, it’s become a habit with democrats.  Current and proposed gun laws in CA only make it easier for a killer to do his worst.  They offer nothing for the protection of the law abiding citizen.   Until these far left democrats are kicked out of office, this situation will not improve and CA citizens will be at greater risk than they should, thanks to these jackasses in Sacramento.

Here’s a few takeaways for your consideration….

NEED FOR GOOD TRAINING:  When people come face to face with an armed killer it’s hard to predict what they might do.  However, if a person is well trained for such an event chances are in that split second moment of crisis he or she will fall back on that training.  There’s no time to think about it – you just automatically react, hopefully that means as you were trained.

LEARNING LESSONS FROM HISTORY:  In the picture below you will see the gunman #1, then #2 the Deacon, then #3 the security.  The security (Richard White) realizing the danger stood up as he yelled drop it and then he reached for his handgun under his coat.  He took less 1/2 second to get his coat tail out of the way and draw his weapon.  Unfortunately, in that time the gunman fired two fatal shots, taking out both White and Tony Wallace the Deacon.

A 3rd armed parishioner/security was about 30 feet away and the shooter was looking away from him.  This gave him an advantage of time and a good angle on the shooter.  He dropped him in one shot.  A total of 6 seconds lapsed from the first shot and then it was over.  Lives were saved this day by that one well placed shot.  Imagine if that security guy had no weapon.  The cops would not arrive for 3 minutes, what could a man with a sawed off 12 gauge do in a crowded building in those minutes?

  1.  Security fell a little short, they were good, but with just a little more training it could have prevented 2 more deaths.  They needed a bit more situational awareness.  Why do I say that?   Let’s back up.  The gunman entered the church as the service was already in progress and he walked right past security (White) and several others standing just inside the front door.   The news story said he was wearing a fake beard and wig – who would not spot that and think that’s weird? So there’s the first huge red flag.  He was wearing an odd long coat capable of concealing a weapon – another red flag.  He entered the church last, after everyone else was seated, that’s suspicious.   He was an unidentified stranger and very strange in his appearance, yet he was able to walk right past at least 4 adult men, including White the security guy, anyone of them  should have sized him up and then action.
  2.  Situational awareness here could have been better, but I shouldn’t be too critical, none of these people were trained law enforcement professions.   Sadly, reaction to this  threat went totally unnoticed or at least unchallenged.  If the gunman had been challenged right at the entry by the first three men present, he might have tried to use his shotgun, but he would have had a difficult time pulling his weapon from under the long coast.  There was a better than average chance he could have been taken down and  stopped right there.
  3. Once inside the church the shooter walked about 20 feet to positioned himself in the rear corner of the room, then he pulled out his weapon.   Now taking any action to stop him would be extremely dangerous, but there are few good options left.  Now what would you do being the closest armed security?  First, you don’t stand up and yell “Drop it!” at the moment the gunman is looking your way!   Second, you don’t take any action before you have your weapon in hand.  But, once the gunman draws his weapon it’s green light time.   You shoot first and ask questions later, you have a legal green light to end the threat.   But, timing is everything.  You have to be smart and keep your cool.  The security that fired the fatal shot did exactly that.  He waited until it was safe to shoot.   Like I said earlier, when you are in a crisis situation you will generally fall back on the training that you know.  Unfortunately, victim White’s training came up short.  He was not properly prepared, even though he carried a gun.   His reaction to seeing the armed gunman was unquestionably heroic, but his movements were wrong and it cost him his life.  And that’s why we’re talking now.
  4. We must learn from the mistakes of others, while hoping this never happens to us, but being better prepared than the last guy if it does.  Key word…prepared!   Do you agree or have comments to add, please feel free.
