Dramatic Drop in Health Insurance for the Self Employed – ObamaCare Draws Cheers!

Dramatic Drop in Health Insurance for the Self Employed – ObamaCare Draws Cheers! (Just kidding)

by Jack

For the self-employed only five states have announced their new health-insurance premium rates and in all but one the rates are higher than what people pay now. Plan for a 15 percent increase in your health-insurance premium, says one self-employment expert.

Wait, wait, wait, … I thought ObamaCare was going to lower my insurance cost, what’s with the increase? Well Bunky, you see it’s like this, many people who previously didn’t have health insurance invariably had a major pre-existing medical condition that also made them unsuitable for conventional employment with health benefits, therefore they gravitated to being self-employed and it’s this pool of people with high healthcare costs that is driving up your insurance premium. This is the way it works, it’s always cost divided by the number of insured that equals the premium….even under ObamaCare.

P.S. This timely comment just came in from “More Common Sense: I certainly hope the GOP holds the line and does not compromise. This is a battle over an incredibly destructive law. I received a letter from Blue Shield yesterday. Beginning January 1 the health insurance plan I have will cease to exist. The plan that replaces it is not as good but will cost me 68% more per month.”

Our Dysfunctional Government

Posted by Tina

Post Scripts has been highlighting the failures of government for eight years. But failure in government under Obama has gone to extremes. The headlines today are filled with stories that describe what can only be called extremely dysfunctional government.

President Obama, the leader of our country, has failed to lead. As our nation slogs along with high unemployment, scarce opportunity, and massive debt the President does nothing but play the blame game. He thinks the bully pulpit is a billy club for bullies.

I can’t guess why President Obama decided to beat up on elderly WWII veterans yesterday. They were scheduled to visit the WWII Memorial yesterday an outdoor venue. The President said no.

(In an act of pure defiance the veterans proclaimed they had faced much tougher foes during the war and, with help from Rep. Steven Palazzo, they stormed the barricades to complete their tour)

Democrats deny veterans benefits. Republicans remain on the job, at the negotiating table, while the Democrats in the House voted against a new bill to fund the Veterans Administration, the District of Columbia and National Parks, including the Holocaust Memorial Museum and Smithsonian.

O’Bummer Care: It isn’t signing up that sucks, although the glitches make that difficult. The headache is choosing a plan in a law that includes 1,700 individual rules affecting eligibility.

continuing story……

Dr. Walter E. Williams Gives Us a Much Needed History Lesson

Posted by Tina

The learned and logical Dr. Williams makes a common sense case that guns are not the reason for all of the violence and murder in America and he gives us a much needed history lesson in the process.
(Do yourself a favor, after you read the article take a look at the biography of Dr. Williams linked above. He’s a well grounded human being with a remarkable life)

This from the article:

Those and other historical facts should force us to ask ourselves: Why — at a time in our history when guns were readily available, when a person could just walk into a store or order a gun through the mail, when there were no FBI background checks, no waiting periods, no licensing requirements — was there not the frequency and kind of gun violence that we sometimes see today, when access to guns is more restricted? Guns are guns. If they were capable of behavior, as some people seem to suggest, they should have been doing then what they’re doing now?

A good question!

Hint…as Dr Williams so wisely suggests, it isn’t guns or gun violence that plagues America. So I ask you, when will we get serious and begin to address the ooooozing rancid morality problem in America?

Out of Control Spending Down Since Republicans Took the House!

Posted by Tina

The American Spectator adds shape and color to the good news resulting from the Republican victory in 2012:

In the wake of the Bush-Pelosi-Obama spending splurge from 2008-11, federal spending has fallen by 3.1 percentage points of GDP. In the second quarter of 2009, according to National Income Products Account data, federal spending hit 26.5 percent of GDP, thanks to the Obama stimulus and the Bush recession. As of the second quarter of 2013, just as the sequester was beginning to take effect, federal spending as a share of GDP is down to 23.5 percent and, barring some unforeseen emergency, is on track to fall to around 23 percent by the end of this year. The turning point in spending from the binge years of 2009 and 2010 came when the Republicans took control of the House in 2011.

State and local government spending as a share of GDP has also fallen by more than one percentage point over the same period that federal government spending fell by 3.1 percentage points. If Republicans in the House stick to the sequester and future caps already built into current budget law, federal spending will stay at this low level for years to come, and state and local government spending will follow suit.

Not since the economic boom following World War II have we seen such a rapid decline in the federal government’s claim on the nation’s resources. Amazingly, federal spending was $3.92 trillion in 2011 and is now down to $3.80 trillion on an annual basis in the second quarter of this year. This is the first time in 50 years we’ve had two straight years of declining spending.

More good news is that the annual deficit is falling too. The Great Recession, followed by stimulus, bailouts, Cash for Clunkers, unemployment insurance extensions, and other follies raised the deficit to $1.4 trillion in 2009, or just over 10 percent of GDP. By the end of this year, however, the deficit will be closer to $600 billion and 4 percent of GDP. In other words, federal deficits will be 2 percentage points less as a share of GDP than they were three years ago. And the decline may not stop even then.

Republicans have shown themselves to be better managers of the people’s money.

More could be done with cooperation from their esteemed collegues. Not much chance of that happening but think of it…we’d be spared all the finger pointing and buck passing by these desperate Democrats who cannot run for re-election on their dismal record. If they just did their jobs instead of playing stupid political grow the government games we would all be having a more pleasant day…every day!.

Their adolescent (criminal) games have resulted in unnecessary, dire, misery and hardship for the people of the United States of America that surpasses the malaise experienced under Jimmy Carter!

There is no excuse for such irresponsible behavior! Meanwhile the lame duck President will trot himself in front of the cameras to shill for his Democrat pals just before he runs out to play another round of golf.

Methinks it won’t help them this time.

“The turning point in spending from the binge years of 2009 and 2010 came when the Republicans took control of the House in 2011.”

More on the Government Shutdown

by Jack (written entirely independently of Tina’s article)

Well, the worst has happened. The much feared government shutdown has arrived. Brace yourselves for some museum closures and other stuff hardly anyone will notice.

Who will win and who will lose in this political stand-off over implementing ObamaCare? So far the polling shows 4 to 1 Americans are against the delay, so Republicans are being severely damaged for taking a rare principled stand calling for a one year delay. Dr. Charles Krauthammer, one of the most respected conservative spokespersons of our time and one who was vehemently against ObamaCare, in it’s present form, believes the Republicans are making a terrible mistake by throwing up a roadblock. He subscribes to the “Silent guns of time” theory to expose the flaws of ObamaCare and let the Democrats take the blame.

Unfortunately, it’s been voted into law, it’s been challenged all the way to the Supreme Court and we conservatives lost. It’s going to happen and an attempt to delay implementation by one year only advantages the Democrats because it gives them the time to correct ObamaCare’s most glaring defects. Beyond a stand on princple, there’s not much in it, politically speaking, for Republicans.

Polling shows the better battle is to resist the debt ceiling. Americans are only 2 to 1 against this one. But, a victory here is likely to crash the economy unless it’s done with extreme skill. Has anyone in Congress in our recent history been that skillful? In either case, ObamaCare or the debt ceiling the GOP finds itself in another one of those da#$% if you da#$% if you don’t situations.

The ultimate losers in this battle are going to be the American people. We have two outcomes and neither are good. We are at high risk of collapsing the economy by printing too much money and extending the debt ceiling beyond repair. And we seem unable to reduce the spending rationally and responsibly to restrain the debt ceiling that’s destined to ruin our future generations. We’re also going to be forever burdened by a form of socialized medicine because the people have never, never, never reversed an entitlement and this latest one will be an enormous drag on our economy at the worst possible time.

On the US Government Shut Down

Posted by Tina

In America as I write it is not yet midnight on the West Coast but in DC, and certainly in Briton, it’s Tuesday and that means the government is now halted…well, at least slowed down a bit.

I went looking for news articles about the government shut down so I would have trouble getting to sleep tonight, and the first line of the first article just cracked me up…I had to share. It’s from Mark Mardell of the BBC; the first sentence reads:

The ferocious Republican distaste for President Obama, and their hatred of his changes to America’s healthcare system have plunged the United States into crisis.

Ferocious…hatred….plunged…crisis?

The BBC, unless it’s changed, is no friend of the right but, really, ferocious?

The rest of the article attempts makes an attempt at sounding serious about the subject but sympathy for the Democrats is drippingly obvious throughout. Read it if you must.

Not once does it mention that had Senator Reid bothered to pass a budget, or had the President presented a budget that wouldn’t be rejected even by every member of his own party…never mind the opposition…we would not be here.

One could make a compelling case that the Democrats planned for this to happen as a kick off salvo in the 2014 elections. Blame the Republicans is about all they’ve got.

Tim Stanly of the Telegraph, in a piece a little friendlier to the right, decided to have a some fun with the “crisis” created by “ferocious” Republicans:

Okay, so let’s get the mainstream media analysis of the looming shutdown out of the way first. The House Republicans are led by a moderate weakling (Boehner) who is being held hostage by a gaggle of Tea Party crazies determined to destroy a humanitarian law known as Obamacare that is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to rescue us from disease, poverty, global warming and Robin Thicke. Obama (Father of the Nation and possibly Jesus, but he’s too humble to admit it) and the lions of the Senate are standing their ground. And so the Federal Government faces catastrophe because a GOP alliance of cowards and loons won’t see reason and bend to the public will as represented by the glorious Democrats. Prepare yourself for society to collapse as museum workers don’t turn up for work in the morning…

Told ya he was funner!

Mr. Stanly also didn’t mention that by law a budget must be passed each year, and hasn’t, because of Reid and Obama. Then he nails the cause of this “crisis” down…overspending and the Constitution have caused it! I have to say his article is otherwise much more informative and readable just in case you’re so inclined.

Don’t worry, we’ve done this before and, surprise, the sky did not fall.

I have to say I’m proud of those Republicans. They have to fight the opposition and an awful lot of folks in the media…but it’s getting better.

Have a peaceful night’s rest Patriots!

Deception @ Presidential Healthcare Webpage

Posted by Tina

According to Weekly Standard the President’s signature healthcare law website, Healthcare.gov, has been informing visitors to the site that they can get free healthcare: “If you can’t afford any health plan, you can get free or low-cost health and dental care at a nearby community health center.” This was the happy response to the query, “Where can I get free or low-cost care in my community?”

But that reference to “free healthcare” has now been deleted:

Even as President Obama and his administration are making a last minute push to encourage enrollment in Obamacare, a quiet change was made on the Healthcare.gov website regarding those who will still not be able to afford coverage after the program kicks in. …sometime between September 16 and September 23, the reference to “free” care was dropped. The title of the topic was changed as well, and now reads: “Where can I get low-cost care in my community?” (See how page originally appeared and how it now looks by following the link)

So before the enrollment date the poor could get free healthcare if they couldn’t afford it but now they can only get low cost care?

And this is an improvement with the working man losing his insurance at work, doctors losing their practice to BIG Kaiser, and healthy citizens choosing a fine rather than participation which spells disaster for the plan working economically?

This administration just cannot be trusted…period. The people must continue to scream for repeal of this dogs*#y law.

We can do So much better but it will take Republicans, Democrats, and Independents who love America to get it done.
