New State Emission Rules Cost Calif. Farmers

State emission rules a costly burden for farmers
By JEFF NICHOLSON — Marysville Appeal Democrat

YUBA CITY — Jenming Gee, owner of Gee Agri Transport in Yuba City, said he’ll spend at least $350,000 this year alone on new vehicles and retrofitting old ones.
Chris Torres said his company, F&L Trucking in Princeton, has taken half a million dollars in losses in the past 10 years staying in compliance.

And they might be the lucky ones — certainly, they’re the most prepared.

“Not everybody can afford to buy new or retrofit,” Gee said. “As far as I’m concerned, those people are out of business.”

Hmmm…yet another reason to establish a new state of Jefferson. The reasons just keep pouring in!

Republican Plan to Replace Obamacare

Posted by Tina

Republicans in the House have been working despite liberal talking points. In addition to the plan proposed today to defund the extremely unpopular Obamacare while funding the government they have also come up with a better option for the problems the ACA was meant to address. The plan, to be unveiled today includes smart reforms to bring health care costs down and promote healthcare choices:

The 200-page budget-neutral bill would provide $20,000 in tax deductions to families and a $7,500 deduction to individuals, so they can buy insurance from vendors in any state. It would…allow Americans to keep the money they save by picking lower-cost providers… would also create a 10-year, $25 billion fund to lower costs for Americans afflicted with pre-existing conditions such as cancer… (it would) let people carry their insurance with them from job to job, and cut wasteful legal costs by reforming medical lawsuits… Via a reformed national health insurance market, Americans will be able to buy many of the provisions in Obamacare…such as coverage for adult children up to age 26

More details are available here.

Americans shouldn’t have to pay for healthcare with after tax dollars. Americans should be able to buy a health insurance plan that works for them from any provider in the nation. Americans shouldn’t have to pay for a big government bureaucracy in addition to their health insurance and care.

Americans shouldn’t have private information exposed! Americans shouldn’t be inconvenienced or put at risk when supplies stores are put out of business due to draconian regulation and cuts to Medicare. Americans shouldn’t lose the healthcare plan they have or the doctor they have come to depend on for care. Americans cannot afford or sustain another big federal social program. All of this and more represents the negative effects of Obamacare. We can do better!

The Republican plan gives power and choice back to the people, lowers the cost of healthcare, addresses the problems that have caused hardship and won’t add trillions to our debt. Let your Representatives and Senators know you support the Republican Study Committee’s American Healthcare Reform Act, a Republican alternative to the trainwreck!

Reason No. 6,061-73: Why We Should Split the State – California Rank’s Last for Business Friendly States

Posted by Jack

JeffersonCalifornia is ranked as the worst State in which to do business and we’re sick of that label. Sacramento has turned our once great state into a wasteland of over regulation and restrictive laws.

From ChiefExecutive.com, these CEO comments:

“CA Regulates and taxes companies unreasonably.”

“California is getting worse, if that is even possible.”

“California’s legal system is broken. Employment law and contract law are highly problematic and along with regulations and taxes, discourage any further investment in this state.”

“California is completely confiscatory, ever dreamng up new ways to stick it to sub-Apple-sized companies. So far, Washington is smart enough to recognize where its jobs come from.”

“Am not aware of any businesses other than entertainment that will be expanding or moving into CA. It is a black hole.”

“Only thing [California has] going for them is the immigrant influx and the established industries already there.”

“California has the best labor pool and the worst government. Taxes are punitive, labor laws are punitive and regulations are restrictive. California is a Union Owned State.”

“California is accelerating down the wrong track. At some point even the climate will be outweighed by the massive disincentives to business and the tax penalties on the modestly successful. It’s well on its way to becoming an environment where the super elites (Hollywood, Silicon Valley and the political class) are separated from the ‘service class’ by a personal income chasm as the union continue to plunder the state’s treasury.”

“I’m considering relocating my business now based in California.”

“California is not small business friendly, or friendly for any business size when it gets down to it. Taxes are beyond belief and going higher. Cost of living overall is out of control just like our elect leaders in Sacramento. Too many entitlements and not enough people contributing.”

“Workplace rules are key for us and California is a disaster. We have considered a higher price structure in CA for our products to cover the added expense of doing business in the state.” –

Reason No. 6,035: Why We Should Split the State – AB60 Driver’s Licenses for Illegals

by Jack

In the latest and most brazen disregard for the rule of law, Hispanic legislators slapped each other on the back as they passed AB60, a bill that when signed into law by Gov. Brown will give driver’s licenses to illegal aliens!

AB60 is an insult to every law abiding resident who came here legally. It is a complete disregard for the notion that state representatives are elected to represent the interests of all the people of the state. This law caters only to a minority, and they are here illegally! AB60 is special interest, race based, legislation and there’s no other way to describe it.

Under AB-60, the licenses would have the initials DP (driver’s privilege), rather than DL (driver’s license), and would state that the document “does not establish eligibility for employment or public benefit.” California’s Department of Motor Vehicles will determine what type of documentation will be required to obtain a driver’s license. However, it’s stated purpose and it’s hidden agenda are miles apart. It’s really designed to win votes for democrats and bring us closer to an open border. And it erodes away another benefit formerly reserved ONLY for the citizens of California. These legislators don’t care if it encourages more illegal immigration, they actually want open borders!

Don’t think for one second this kind of thing is not related to sanctuary cities, it is! It brings illegals one step closer to a whole host traditional benefits and the costs of illegals are already killing us.

rottendemocratsWhy do these liberal democrat legislators seem to care more about appeasing the 2.6 illegals living here unlawfully than the average law abiding voter? Whatever the reasons, it has nothing to do with the rule of law; that part has been trounced royaly. Guess we will have toss out the age old “fruits of the poison tree doctrine.” That doctrine pertains to illegally gathered evidence and the summary says nothing legal may follow an illegal action. And yes, issuing a legal license to a non-citizen here illegally fit’s the premise of the doctrine. That’s why I say the legislation makes a mockery of the law and it should not stand.

The original bill as proposed by Assemblyman Luis Alejo (D) of Watsonville would have granted licenses to immigrants who could prove they paid taxes or worked in the United States. However, Mr. Alejo conceded this point late Thursday, reassuring Brown that California would adhere to federal procedures for granting licenses to illegal immigrants and subsequently winning the governor’s backing.

Brown’s support helped propel the bill through the California Legislature. This begs the question…is there one democrat left in Sacramento with an ounce of common sense and the courage to stand up for American idealism and our laws? I think not.

The Economic Result of Big Government Thinking

Posted by Tina

CBO predictions are based on projections made given current law; at best they can act simply as indicators to guide for decision makers. Our President and our decision makers haven’t been very effective over the past five years. The fruits of their poor management are now in:

CBO is far more pessimistic about the long-term fiscal picture than it was last year. Where it predicted a gradual decline in publicly held debt over the next 25 years in its 2012 report, it now expects national debt to reach 100% of GDP by 2038, on its way to 250% by 2088. (It was 39% when President Bush left office.)

And after a couple annual declines, deficits start rising again, reaching 6.5% of GDP by 2038, which is higher than any year between World War II and Obama.

The CBO admits that such long-term forecasts are highly uncertain. But if anything, the results will be worse, since the budget office simply assumes, for example, that ObamaCare’s costs don’t explode and that all its dubious cost-cutting measures actually work.

Both are unlikely.

While the CBO largely blames the decision to extend most of the Bush tax cuts for the worsening long-term budget outlook, its own numbers make clear that out-of-control spending is the real culprit.

According the report, federal revenues are on track to hit 20% of GDP by 2038, which is well above the average of 17.4% over the past four decades.

We need legislators and a president with serious leadership qualities who are dedicated to reforming social programs, eliminating duplicate programs, fraud and waste, eliminating unnecessary departments and creating a sound fiscal budget.

That is the goal even if it takes seventy years!

This is why there is a shrinking middle class and job opportunities are few and far between.

Continuing Resolution W/O Obamacare Funding?

Posted by Tina

Robert Costa of National Review informs the GOP in the House is “preparing to vote on a continuing resolution that simultaneously funds the federal government and defunds Obamacare”.

The final decision will be announced by leadership after Wednesday’s Republican conference meeting.

They apparently have a plan “B” planned knowing the chances are slim to none in the Senate…TIME TO CALL, FAX, AND EMAIL OUR SENATORS!

State of Jefferson: Reason 6034 plus One Big Green Whopper!

Read A Green Car Named Desire in the Wall Street Journal for the full context…here’s what fuels the fires of those who are tired of So Cal and Bay Area liberal BS:

•California has a goal to cut its greenhouse emissions to 80% below 1990 levels, effectively all new cars sold in California by 2040 will have to be electric or plug-in hybrids

•Governor Jerry Brown has ordered that 1.5 million zero-emission vehicles “be on California roads” by 2025

•Car companies compelled by law to increase fleets can’t sell the cars so California lets the manufacturer comply by buying credits. Palo Alto-based electric car maker Tesla has made a $119.5 million killing (300% of its net income) this year from hawking its excess credits.

•Combined government incentives can reduce the price of a Nissan electric Leaf to about $18,000.

•According to state survey data, the typical rebate recipient earns over $150,000 and owns at least one other non-electric car. About 80% hail from the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Orange County. The most popular car among rebate recipients this year has been Tesla’s Model S sports sedan, which runs between about $70,000 and $100,000.

•California last year also awarded Tesla a $10 million grant to develop its Model X SUV and $756,000 in funds for “workforce training.”

• The demand for rebates among the well-to-do is surging, which has created a funding squeeze. In March, the state had to create a waiting list. While the legislature appropriated an additional $15 million for rebates in June, the program is already running on empty and needs at least $30 million more to meet demand in the coming year.

•To keep the party going, Democrats might next tap the state’s cap-and-trade revenues, which they probably would have done this year if Mr. Brown hadn’t raided them to plug a $500 million budget hole.

So we in California are paying “the rich” with our tax dollars to buy the electric cars that push the green agenda…that’s so typical of these weavers of deception, Tom foolery and lies.

I wonder if it has occurred to them that they still have to create electricity for the plug-ins…and it sure as heck ain’t going to come from wind or solar.

Obamacare Update

Correction: Buffet’s Still an Obamacare Supporter After All

I was wrong. Warren Buffet still loves Obamacare…and why not? He doesn’t need it and you can bet he is already poised to profit big time from its implementation. He’s a corporatist through and through. His comments about scrapping healthcare were taken out of context from an interview in March of 2010:

Omaha.com:

“I’ve never suggested nor thought Obamacare should be scrapped,” said Buffett, who has supported Obama’s political campaigns. “I support it. It relates to providing medical care for all Americans. That’s something I’ve thought should be done for a long, long time.”

It’s a shame the old guy doesn’t see, or doesn’t care about the train wreck his support has guaranteed for millions of Americans a lot less fortunate than he.

I have crossed out some of the quotes attributed to Buffet as being in reference to Obamacare. I have not deleted the quotes from the article that remain true for many Americans today. Buffet said what we had before Obaamcare was untenable…he can’t possibly believe that Obamacare will do anything but make matters worse.

Two items regarding Obamacare in the news caught my attention today. The first was the startling news that billionaire investor Warren Buffet, who backed Obamacare before it was passed, is now saying we should “scrap it and start over”:

“‘We have a health system that, in terms of costs, is really out of control,’ he added. ‘And if you take this line and you project what has been happening into the future, we will get less and less competitive. So we need something else.’

Buffett insists that without changes to Obamacare average citizens will suffer.

“‘What we have now is untenable over time,’ said Buffett, an early supporter of President Obama. ‘That kind of a cost compared to the rest of the world is really like a tapeworm eating, you know, at our economic body.’

“Buffett does not believe that providing insurance for everyone is the first step to take in correcting our nation’s healthcare system.

“‘Attack the costs first, and then worry about expanding coverage,’ he said. ‘I would much rather see another plan that really attacks costs. And I think that’s what the American public wants to see. I mean, the American public is not behind this bill.'”

He’s got (some of) that right!

The second story illustrates just one of the many problems that make this law unworkable. It comes to us from Chicago, but you can bet the same thing is happening in towns and cities all across America. This is the sad tale of medical supply businesses being forced to close their doors because the new “cost saving” Medicare rules in Obamacare don’t adequately cover the cost of supplies needed by sick and aging Medicare patients. The owner says his profits will be cut by 85% citing one example of reimbursements for diabetic supplies that were cut by 72%.

Only a big government thinker could believe that it’s possible to make healthcare more affordable by creating a huge bureaucracy that attempts to control costs through regulation. The way to control cost is to eliminate the expensive, dictatorial, government middleman thereby creating competition among suppliers for the business. The buyer at the store is then free to negotiate with suppliers…he can say things like, “Gee I’d like to give you the business but Joe over at ABS will sell that item to me for $50 less per case…can’t you do better?” This is how costs are kept low.

The market, when not interfered with, will establish a fair price that is more affordable for everyone and the entrepreneurs that make these products will have incentive to find a way to make their product less expensive.

Warren Buffet (should be able to see) knew this before he endorsed Obamacare; hes a businessman! But better late than not at all.
