How not to measure temperature, part 6
Ok folks, just when you think I could not possibly post any worse pictures of official climate stations, I yet again have more. I’d like to point out that I’ve only surveyed about 10 stations in California so far, and what you see posted here represents samples from those.
It gives you an idea of the magnitude of the problem.
Ok here is Tahoe City California, GISS ID 425724880010 and an active station of record. I was unable to locate the observer for this station but was able to speak with the property management people for the nearby condos.

The first picture is looking south over lake Tahoe. BTW the van is not mine, but belongs to the groundskeeper, and yes that's where he parks it regularly. Note the doggie bags. There's a walking path nearby.

Next picture, looking north, whats that, a tennis court within 25 feet of the station? Horrors.

Final picture. It seems the groundskeeper likes to burn the trash and paper he picks up on the grounds, guess where he does it?
Honest folks, I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried.
The property management person I spoke with said the tennis court and condos was built in the early 80’s.
Here is the GISS plot, showing the data trends used in NASA's Model E global Climate computer model

Note the jump and sustained plateau of temperature after 1980. Tennis anyone?

You've finally nailed it, Anthony. It's all the concrete and asphalt that is making the world warmer! It was not humans at fault after all!

thats not the point, dork. the data being recorded isn't accurate. Whats the point of graphing anything over time, if the data isn't 100%?

I still have not figured out why people who support "global warming" are so opposed to this. Since when is correcting the data set worthy of ridicule? Unless of course they aren't concerned about science, or maybe they just forgot the definition:
sci·ence /ˈsaɪəns/
–noun
1. a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws
I don't think anyone on this site is saying that global warming isn't true. All that's being said is the data being collected is suspect, with the goal being to fix the problems. Then more accurate temperature data can be collected. Determining whether the earth is actually warming or not is a completely separate issue than finding out what actually causes the warming and/or cooling.

Hey I grew up there are tahoe marina unit 30. I remember the weather station perfectly.
I will say that the tennis courts were there before well before 1980, so I don't know if that is totally it.
But I do know if you look at the graph look at 1960 and 1980 and compair them to the sunspot data you'll see huge rises in sunspots. 1980 was the beginning of this off the chart sunspot multicycle growth.
Anyway interesting that your looking at this.

REPLY: The property management person I spoke to said "early 80's" but she hadn't been there during that period. It just goes to show that interviews/memory isn't always reliable. As you said in another post, they were built in 1973. The best way will be to check town records, such as contruction permits.

FYI tahoe marina lodge was built in 1973

one last thing I remember about the weather station is that there were many more trees around it in the 70's, it is possible they thinned out the trees around 1980 so if the station was in direct sunlight vs. shaded it might also make a difference.
